You can loosen tension much easier from the top. There is another 19mm that you can get at from the top. All I had to do was move the power steering reservoir out of the way (didn't have to remove any hoses). When you get a 19mm socket on it you just push steadily toward the rear. You can then easily remove the belt. No need to try from the bottom (way more difficult).
Thank you Steven!!!! I saw that bolt and wasn't sure. You were the one who gave me the answer!
I tried that way and cannot get enough tension on off the slide belt on. will try again in tomorrow
I finally got the belt on. I put it on everything but the tensioner wheel, then pushed it forward with long pry bar for leverage and slipped it on tensioner wheel starting at bottom of wheel. Then pulled it upward until it was in place. Hope that helps and don't give up!
+1 OMG so much easier!! 1/2" Breaker bar with a box end wrench cheater gets you comfortably above the AC lines. Thank you Steven!!
One question regarding the hydrolic tensioner cylinder. I pulled the rubber boot back to inspect and a good amount of oil came out. Is that normal or did it just leak out from the cylinder?
I got it from the top. remove engine cover and some junk out of the way, breaker bar and a 2 foot pipe for leverage, worked just fine.
Thanks for this. Chagning mine today.
I spent 2 hours trying to get a serpentine belt off a 2006 Odyssey Touring....then I realized the tensioner had 2 19MM bolts....one below it, and one on top...... when I used the one of top......it was no problem.........................
Holy Sh*t! Really?! 9 more thumbs up 4 you HR G! 12:45am and I'm headin back out to try it again!
Love your videos. You would have been a very good college professor.
Love it. Short and to the point. Thanks for sharing.
awesome work guys its given me some confidence to do the job
What is the length of the hydraulic piston when expanded compared to contracted
Very helpful
when you guys upload clk w 208 videos ?
I have broken a few of those hex nut on the tensioner. Doing this alone is a nightmare
How long of labor is this job at a shop?
I replaced mine with one from Amazon. verified the model number, but there is a squeaking sound? Any ideas what to do? Do I need to buy another OEM belt? Thanks!
Rain is doing that motor sitting outside good!
Thank you 🇺🇸
thanks bud!
The right way to compress the tensioner to get loose is on the top.theres one more bolt head over there and do it slowly to relieve tension
Breaker bars and a nice piece of steel pipe when by yourself and from the top they do sell this skinny long breaker bar for this type of tight squeeze but anyone can do it grab the right tools and believe in yourself everything is possible
Use a prybar between Crank pully and the tensioner on bottom to put belt back on and have a person to help you . It's IMPOSSIBLE W RATCHET!!!!!!!! Use prybar w orange handles.
A blue handle won't work?
Hi guys,i just want to know where is your location.i mean what state in the U.S.are you?
Well done guy
hows big is a mini meter
milimeter (mm)
Honda serpentine belts are some of the most difficult to access and work on. if u crank on the tensioner too hard, it will strip the 19mm bolt head.
exactly what happened to me just b4 the belt went on. Now I'm looking forward to trying to pound on an ez off bolt w/ 3" of swing room. My van is outside so, as it will be cold and rainy, listen carefully and you may hear me burst into joyous song!
🙏
One applies force, not pressure.
you are not kidding about it being a 2 person job. unfortunately, im all by myself.
19 mini meters of water
Ain't no 2 person job I did it with 2 wrenches
I don't care how easy there video makes it look it's IMPOSSIBLE W RATCHET to put the belt back on
It is possible, all yo need is some muscles
😁👍
You can remove the belt by yourself. When you pivot the socket on the tensioner, slide it off of its pulley. And slowly let go of the wrench on the tensioner.
Yes taking it off is easy .
Its putting it on that is always a good idea to have a second set of hands. As you have to loop it around with barely any clearance.
Belt no good at all ? JUST CUT IT With SISORS . and Put the new one on.
Always good to keep an EXTRA belt in trunk Just incase . Also the tool to loosen tensioner.
Some vehicles its just a socket and wrench or breaker bar others are diferent.
Xd
I hate cross engines cause of this you can't see anything got pita to remove and install it myself alone in my Altima 2097 and pretty easy as a piece of cake in my e39 2002
I can't listen to this . Sounds like he has something is stuck in his throat
I didn't get to see the tensioner so disliked sorry.
