So here’s the problem with a video like this. Merchant is just winging it. No testing, just press record and spout stream of consciousness feelings about changes without even understanding what changed. I feel like 5 minutes in the firing range testing what changed before making this video would’ve made it worth watching. As it is, all I learned is that Merchant *feels* like nothing changed, which is objectively false and also a useless opinion. Why did I watch this video? I went into game and tested the changes myself. Here’s what I found: - You can no longer jump immediately after landing. There’s now a very small delay between landing and being able to jump again. - While spamming jump, after a few jumps you get wild aim sway while ADSing. It’s especially noticeable with snipers While relatively small changes, I do believe it will have a noticeable effect on how often we’re encountering bunny hopping bimbos. Dying around corners is definitely an issue, also hitting someone and getting the hit marker but getting no damage. Those to me are the biggest issues. Although I am glad they are attempting to address the sniper and the jumping. The jumping I see but definitely not as much as I hit someone and get no damage and getting clipped around corners.
I get why people are saying that jump spam is a good thing, but at the end of the day it's a low skill high reward mechanic that doesn't have much counter play beyond doing it as well. It would be more interesting if they could buff sliding or add a commando dive or something so that there were other mechanics in the game to use other than jumping and sliding icl.
the counter is literally just knowing they are jumping and adjust. i don’t mind them nerfing them but people are also over exaggerating how hard it is to kill them. if you know they will jump i just aim higher and i actually kill them faster because they jump into headshots.
The idea of the jump “most people don’t understand the reason why they are doing it and copy like sheep because they think it’s a skill move “ It’s to exploit the low tik server and the hit register detection!..this combined was to exploit in game hit boxes and give you a massive advantage! They fix the hit detection first the problem is solved! Cheating would be even better 👍
The first jump has some air strafe, 2nd jump decrease, 3rd jump you are barely strafing. The nerf is in but its on mutiple successions of jumping that slows movement while shooting, aim is still on point but bunny movement is smashed when fighting 2 people or more
3 jumps is too much. A single jump completly disrupts aim assist (keep in mind the vast majority of players are on controller, even those that play the version play the game with controllers), imagine trying to acquire atarget that jumps 3 times in 1 second.

Love that you’re covering this game, I wanted to say that the camera shake from explosives were sooo annoying when trying to fight near the objectives, so I am elated that they touched on it.

The jumping around corners is fine, but i have seen plenty of people redirect their movement while in air. Like a tap strafe but not tapping the ground just mid-air redirect.
I didn't think someone who doesn't jump spam to begin with can give an honest take on how big the changes are, tbh. You didn't have a real frame of reference lol. Everybody who hate it want the other person's aim to basically be all over the place as if they're playing CS:GO or Valorant. I think they went light on the amount of weapon sway introduced just to see the reception of it. It will likely get tweaked again.

I wonder if the aim penalty is for hip fire which really wasn’t an issue previously because ADS, it feels the exact same as it did previously. I think adding more fatigue with multiple jumps and removing the ability to be change direction while in air would have been the plays. Jump shotting would still be a viable tactic but not an abuse mechanic especially for those who play with paddles

The jump nerfs start working after 3 jumps than the aim starts zooming around all over the place. It won't stop people from jumping a bit, but they can't spam it.
Literally the only way to balance jump spamming is to make it unusable for everyone. Just take away like 50% accuracy while in a jumping animation and then people will only complain about slide shotting.
I'm surprised to say this about Merchant's videos, but this is not the usual comprehensive analysis I've come to expect from him. Now, if Merchant is saying that under normal play where you're not going to notice the jump/crouch spam nerf, it's true, but for people who abuse the jumps in particular, this nerf has the intended effect. Staycation has a much better analysis of the changes on his channel for those interested.

I like this game but if I want to play jump spamming I have Unreal or Quake, if I want bunny jump I've got CS2... this game should be more like PUBG instead of the other 2 I said. That's my oppinion.

There’s also a slight but clearly noticeable delay between jumps. Used to be able to jump again the instant you touched the ground, now you can’t. Definitely more of a nerf than most people seem to think (and clearly more than Merchant’s ignorant feelings about it.)
So literally zero change then. 1) if you don’t have a scuff you’re at a huge disadvantage and 2) by the second bhop let alone the third you’re already dead and lol bhopping is broken because bullets do no register when the someone’s spams bhopping AND it fucks up the aim assist.

The grind to UNLOCK a weapon’s potential is WAAYY too BIG! After a full week playing every day and I’m lvl 20-30. It’s not fun imho just to be able to tune your weapon. Idc about camo so yeah make that a grind cool for showoff your addiction hours, but holy moly unlocking attachments is way too much of a grind. Yes I know every gun works fine at lvl 1 but come on..

Bro you are literally not even doing the right movement techs, so you slide hop, into B-hops in different directions multiple times, then my dear brother you will feel what is different after you have done 3 of those, but you have to have momentum in order for it to be fluid or you would have had to do it in that way before, now it’s gone
Its really only noticeable after like 4-5+ consecutive jumps which IMO is fine. 1-3 jumps to try and outplay your enemy is fine, 4-5 and you might as well buy bunny ears and embrace what you truly are.
I don't think Xdefiant would nerf their base movement for players to be more comfortable. They made have made a nerf, but SMG/run and gun is meta so it may need some tweaking eventually.

Honestly. Not feeling this game at all. I really did give it some time. Unfortunately. It seems Xdefiant will fall by the wayside. If they are planning a BR mode. Then yes. I'd give it another shot. In it's current state😬😬 nope.
literally every game has a BR mode now, XDefiant offers something different to gamers who crave those old school arcade shooters. I would be fuming if they wasted time developing a BR, Fair enough if it's not for you though.
Bad players complaining usually results in neuturing a fun, smooth experience, the only change they needed to make was moving left and right while jumping.

If you stand still and spam jump then you will see the changes that they made to b hopping. The SWAY is mental

After you spam jump 5 times in a row, you can jump 3 times with no effect. Pointless change at the moment

You can hip fire with smgs and bunny hop still and the netcode is still as bad as it was if not worse.

It takes 4 consecutive jumps for the sway to start. But theres alot of ways around it. The nerf was pointless.
How about instead of nerfing movement we nerf the cleaner passive and drone 😭

When you die in under a second the “3 jumps before it sways” is still to long. Needs a harder nerf. Just take jumping out of the game.

The grind to UNLOCK a weapon’s potential is WAAYY too BIG! After a full week playing every day and I’m lvl 20-30. It’s not fun imho just to be able to tune your weapon. Idc about camo so yeah make that a grind cool for showoff your addiction hours, but holy moly unlocking attachments is way too much of a grind.
Yes I know every gun works fine at lvl 1 but come on..

Pretty sure most people wouldn’t make that distinction between the two. Both involve smashing the jump button as fast as you can while moving 🤷🏼♂️

They werent removing jumping all together bro 😭 they nerfed the accuracy by adding sway. And added increased fatigue after a certain amount of jumps
Now just nerf quick-scoping and the game will be playable
You have to aim and jump at least 4 times and the aim gets messed up
But in all honesty if y'all can't MOVE YOUR RIGHT STICK at a person jumping around that's just a skill issue

Bro you are literally not even doing the right movement techs, so you slide hop, into B-hops in different directions multiple times, then my dear brother you will feel what is different after you have done 3 of those, but you have to have momentum in order for it to be fluid or you would have had to do it in that way before, now it’s gone

Its really only noticeable after like 4-5+ consecutive jumps which IMO is fine. 1-3 jumps to try and outplay your enemy is fine, 4-5 and you might as well buy bunny ears and embrace what you truly are.
I don't think Xdefiant would nerf their base movement for players to be more comfortable. They made have made a nerf, but SMG/run and gun is meta so it may need some tweaking eventually.
They need to nerf it more

Anyone complaining about jump spamming is just proving the argument that it is a skill based mechanic. If it’s that busted just use it. Oh wait what? You can’t track while jumping? Ah makes sense why you’d complain.
idk i really like the bhop while shooting meta it actually makes people hard to shoot at and require more skill plus the game feels so much more fluid and movement based

Honestly. Not feeling this game at all. I really did give it some time. Unfortunately. It seems Xdefiant will fall by the wayside.
If they are planning a BR mode. Then yes. I'd give it another shot. In it's current state😬😬 nope.
literally every game has a BR mode now, XDefiant offers something different to gamers who crave those old school arcade shooters. I would be fuming if they wasted time developing a BR, Fair enough if it's not for you though.

Movement is the only reason i play the game. Why take the fun part out?
Bad players complaining usually results in neuturing a fun, smooth experience, the only change they needed to make was moving left and right while jumping.
@@jake100xx spamming jump just visually looked ridiculous since there are no other movement options that are as good. They should have just buffed sliding really. The air strafing is dope to me though, i like that part
@ChildOfFury I understand the complaint, personally I think the bunnyhopping suits xdefiant very well due to the frantic and cartoony nature of the game. Good aim and positioning is the best counter to crazy movement
