Coming from someone who started playing 6 seasons ago, these tips are going to help me a lot, especially the first one. I tend to feel down when eliminated, but it annoys me that I care so much and feel that way. Thanks a lot GM!!
I got really lucky and met some one with 12,000 hours who had hit pred 4-5 times in a diamond ranked game and the best thing he ever told me was “if you’re ur scared of dying you’re definitely gonna die to someone like me”
The "just don't care" advice is my go-to whenever I play anything tense/spooky/horror-like. First thing I always do in those games is run up to whatever the creepy nemesis is and die on purpose to get it out of the way. 🙃
Our community also needs to change when it comes people making mistakes in game. Everyone has made the same mistakes a lot of people still learning make all the time but yet they always wanna hop in mic and say something even when they’re dead. Not to mention, if you’re dead, your randoms might actually curse you out even when you haven’t blamed them for your own death. People assume a random is always going to be raging at the teammates when that random makes a mistake even if said random hasn’t said or typed anything to make that clear.
thx for the tips. it rlly helps. my friends all used to play apex but then they all switched to fortnite and now none of them play apex anymore which leaves me all alone
TO be honest, the requeue option after every ranked match helped me. Not seeing the RP drop helps in maintaining composure and focus. One session later I see a lot of gained RP.
I'm a solo queue guy, and I would love to have a three stack I jived with, but it's not really that easy. All my friends who are interested in playing Apex aren't interested in competing at that level, and most of the people I've met who are, aren't really on the same page as me either. So here I am, banging my head against a wall.
Remember the best source of coaching is self reflection. Figure out how you died and what you could have done different. It has helped me so much just to take a step back and review some old clips and fix my flaws.
Rule #1 is 100% the most important part. Just don't care if you're practicing. You shouldn't be trying to "Rank Up" or "Climb" until you're done practicing.
One of the things that started to help me so much is just playing around with dpi every time I play! You’re not married to a dpi so if you feel your aim is off, do something about it!
Also, people will never improve from these mistakes or learn if everyone is just looking for the quick easy fix to feel like they are improving when they’re really not. Looking for bot lobbies for a badge, ratting for a badge, buying an account for a badge, cheating for a badge, using a “meta” slow sensitivity, playing a legend that’s easier, etc. etc. People wanna get badges in this game and not actually practice fundamentals because they care only about looking good to someone, not actually being good.
I am a solo queuer. I have a small handful of friends I play with now and then. lol But solo queue is also its own vibe. but I do quit playing once I hit diamond. 😂
3:54 Thats easily the worst tip you could ever give newbies or casual players. Wanna know why? I will tell you why. They will only hotdrop and die. Nothing else. They don't improve. They just die as cannon fodder to pros while getting no progress done and ruin the rounds for everyone else. *Do not do this guys!* An *way better* tip would be to go in mixtape and play calm, don't care about the win. Just focus on your aim after training in the firing range for a bit.
I legit will have 10 games in a row where my teammates both get under 100 dmg and then I’ll switch to solos and almost always end up in a game with someone who is the number one at their legend. Not joking.
@@DandandanTelevison I believe you. Half of my solos lobby are Horizon sweats. Solo queuing may be pain, but it‘s fun conpared to solos. And that‘s what they removed Duos for. Respawn trash.
I feel that last point as I’ve also mainly solo queued everything since season 0. The problem now though is that people are just so rude or not authentic now that I can’t trust even accepting an invite or going to discord anymore. The only time I’ll play with people is my IRL friends at this point but they don’t have really much time anymore to play. Community has gotten so toxic I’d rather give myself criticism than trust anyone else’s.
Never played with a pre made & I started day 1, I have all communication blocked for my account so no one can even speak to me or their messages do not appear in chat 😂 can't even message my Xbox account at all either
I have the exact same issue, also player since day 1 and never left. But lately grinding solo in ranked is a nightmare because most solo players are not teamplayers…
I mostly play Asian server, and 2 things I noticed, when you get to around platinum, teammates are alot less toxic. And 2 na servers are super toxic in general.
Apex Mistakes 1. Don’t care, it’s just a game. 2. Slow down kid, take your time. 3. Change your damn settings, try new things out. 4. Keep your fingers warm, mix it up. 5. Stop hitting your head against a wall, get a team. I’ll make sure to write this big enough on a notebook and keep it by my side while playing apex… thanks merchant of the game for the amazing tips and video🫡
I just purchased a pro controller with paddles at first I hated it, I still don't use all the paddles but I like the one for squatting and it has made a big difference in my 1 v 1's .
To enjoy the game more and care less about the outcomes I'm playing mixtapes without headphones while listening to music in the background and I'm not doing as bad as I thought. Also playing something else for a while (XDefiant is looking very good) helps to refresh muscle memory, sometimes it's all you need to realize that you're just too nervous, and your hands are working more than is needed.
Only thing I slightly disagree with is the second tip. Being methodical doesn’t mean you have to move at a snails speed. The main thing you do have to be aware of is that speed comes after seasons and seasons of consistent practice.
I think one mistake that you almost always do is that you play with pay to loose skins that have too much visual clutter. Its ok if you are able to play with them as good as without, but they give you an disatvantage right from the start. Mostly talking about guns like the PK, EVA-8 or R-99.
There's too much emphasis put on kills and damage when the whole point of a BR is to be alive at the end of the match , look at the way the teams play the game in ALGS compared to the general player base , look at the sheer amount of people in the final rings compared to average game where the game doesnt even get to the final ring
That first tip is such a relief. Thank you. I’m heavily going to take that into account Woah woah woah, I definitely thing of the gaming merchant when it comes to good players! Don’t ever say that again
Having suffered the feeling of anxiety of playing apex, after playing lots of matches and not caring I feel that I dint stress as much around tricky situations. Gaming merchant, thank you for releasing this video to help people excel
i think your a good apex player, thank you for making this, for now im trying to achieve more high damage games, i wanna test myself and get maybe more 2ks or 3k damage games, for me its never been easier to get better for me because i always fight against diamonds and masters and consistently having those players im fighting against makes me more able to counter them
Changing settings held me back for a long time. After a year of playing i finally started playing around alc and switched to 4-3 linear. It took me a while to dial it in but it was 100% worth it. My aim & recoil control went from storm trooper status to marksman status. My biggest problem now is getting used to using paddles. Ive played video games for over 30 years now and after all that time its been very difficult to re train my brain to use back buttons but I'm still giving it my best because i know it help in the long run. Thanks GM! Much love brother!
please merchant, wish you made more auth content like this unlike the clickbaits youve been doing, i loved this video, its been atleast a year since i was able to finish your videos, feels like the old merch is back
You are a great player IMO and you make amazing content that has helped a lot of us get better too. Def one of my top fav apex content creators you always keep it real and i love that.
im over 7 thousand hours lol and i feel the same way. I feel like this game is inconsistent. steam settings and launch option settings take away the games integrity also resolution and aspect ratio really changes the whole feel of the game where up close fights seem way easier depending on how you have settings. there are too many variables goin on that shouldnt be part of the game. the game should be launched and what the game gives you for settings is what you work with and thats it. you shouldnt be able to go into nividia reflex and change resolutions change this and change that. its frustrating with cheaters and them acting like they cant fix it. they should make the game have certain qualifications ip address verification if you get caught cheating your house will not be able to play the game unless you change internet providers. there are things they can do but why when no one else does. lets worry about selling skins and events where we want you to pay hundreds of dollars in a gambling obsession format, the fear of missing out on skins availability, the i have something you cant have bragging rights heirlooms that takes 500 packs or 170 events. its all a crap shoot scummy business model all the way around these game developers are copying each other how to screw the player base.
Steam settings and launch options are for capping FPS and fixing issues. Also resolution doesn't give you an advantage I've played native I've played stretched and I've played 90 FOV and 120 it doesn't make that much of difference just quality of life changes and preference most pros play native as well. IP address verification doesn't work nor does phone number verification, IP address doesn't work because ISPs reuse IP addresses and sometimes use them for multiple homes at the same time you can also just call your ISP and ask for them to change it or use a VPN. Phone number wont work because there's a bunch of sites where you can buy verified phone numbers for pennies. The only solution to the cheater problem is a more intrusive anti cheat with more manual banners and them taking preemptive measures against cheat providers.
GM "Just take a whole ranked split, hot drop, push fights, don't care if you die"
My solo Q teamates...."hold my beer"
yup. they were maybe a step ahead all along :)

This is the nature of shooters in general. That won't change

As someone with 15k hours on shooters my aim is still not good enough & makes up 95% of my deaths. Skill ceiling is a b!tch

Putting apex legends and an actual crisis on a scale is a hilarious comparison
I feel like we’re forgetting the most important tip : HAVE FUN
Rule #1 is 100% the most important part. Just don't care if you're practicing. You shouldn't be trying to "Rank Up" or "Climb" until you're done practicing.
that solo Q point.....i feel exposed
we got therapy merchant now(honestly thx a lot ur my favourite apex creator)
Wise man. You’re a good role model for this game.
First tip is great I hit my highest damage on a game where I had had enough and just went full throttle not caring about losing
I recommend using 800 or 1600 dpi. The input lag is lower than 400..
One of the things that started to help me so much is just playing around with dpi every time I play! You’re not married to a dpi so if you feel your aim is off, do something about it!
all of us OG players can agree the worst mistake we made was playing the game
Same squad mates since season 2! Some of my best bros! Invited them to my wedding

Guess I’m built different. Thanks merch
You should try a higher DPI, at least 800
Biggest mistake everyone makes is to still play this SBMM crap game.

My god i have only been getting bots as teammates in trios, they just Crouch spam at a single place
I want to end mistake 5 so badly!!!
Would you want to give it ago with me?
Do you ever feel like you’ve wasted the last 5 years of your life in this digital world?
you have to be in the top 5%. Probably top 3% especially if you'd play with a team more often instead of trying to get solo clips so much.
“Step 1: Stop caring.”
I’m out 😅.
Hey gaming merchant I just want to let you know I’m doing much better now thanks for everything ❤

Yeah it's a shame. How many times do I get an invite and then after 1 bad game where I do 10 less damage than team mate , he leaves. 😂

This game too sweetie for me i have 1.77 kd this season but the game is so frustrating i feel so peaceful playing single player games
Agree. My kd higher than ever, but it’s also the most stressful season yet. And my kd also been tanking lately (I assume cuz of cheaters)
Same also here, I'm good but damn do I prefer PvE games
Yeah it's like all games are just ranked at this point
same lol. kd doesnt mean anything tho - especially since three strikes and solo mode etc the game is much easier.
True but then again I bet anyone who plays apex to feel peace is probably a psychopath.
Damn that solo queue, advice really hits home.
Probably one of the best videos I've seen recently. Dropped apex 3 seasons ago but still watched it till the end
Gaming Merchant lowkey an Apex Legends therapist. ❤
This guy's a real legend
if he sticks with it he sure has potential to become a true apex legend yea.
Bruh tgm give yourself more credit you are awesome at apex and you are a pro not just above average
