The new Raptor R no longer offers a front TORSEN limited-slip differential. I think this is a mistake. It now uses brake distribution to control front wheel slip. Nissan has been using something similar called Active Braking Limited Slip (ABLS) for years. Both, my old Nissan Titan and my Xterra had this. It works ok, but not as good as a true mechanical limited slip.
So you can get a front locker on the Broncos, But the top of the line raptor doesn't have one? Why Wouldn't they add that as an option? BFG TA/KO2 tires are not good in mud. I have them, they are good tires, they are awesome in a handful of other situations but mud - no. You need stubbier ones. Also, wide tire size is bad in mud. Thinner ones sink in deeper, potentially to the bottom, where there is somewhat more grip. More importantly, if you take that long entry dirtroad and send it - that's where the RaptoR will shine.
First, it is an unbelievable truck! As you said (at the end) it on all terrain tires and NOT mud terrain! I HAVE ONE (a Raptor R) and it is a 707hp BEAST!! I have mud terrain tires on it and I could EASILY make it up that hill within a few seconds!!!!!!
@JR'S Cars & Guitars Exactly, I had the KO2's on my FJ and absolutely hated them. They were scary as hell to drive on wet or snow covered roads and were horrible on muddy trails. I took a loss and replaced them early with Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3's. My wife will drive it in bad weather with confidence now and we are both happy with the Bridgestones!
@onehandwashestheotherso you think Bezos works harder than one of his warehouse workers who aren't allowed bathroom breaks? Workload is often not correlated with salary.

of all the videos i hve seen of ur channel, this one was the best, what a suspense.... problem solving... those rocks behind the tires to turn, never heard of it. it was fun to watch. you should teach offroading and talk more about tips like those. Amazing job as always. lots of love nd respect.
Ryan you need to man up here and call this crap for what it is. Go ask the dealer about the warranty if you use it as marketed. We need to stop this insanity and save the over moneyed mall crawlers some change.
That mud requires special tires with a tractor type of thread to be able to get out without help. With no trees around the Ford Raptor with winch would be useless anyway. The more horsepower vehicle has the easier is to get it stuck. Also the best rule of off roading says to get enough gear and most importantly do not go alone: have other folks with other vehicles with you just in case. In the video at the end of the day the most useful for off roading was good phone connection.
Some of those situations you were in, you shoulda just let the truck eat....gave it the beans. I get you weren't trying to tear up the trail or the truck but you could have got out of that jam(s) by letting it romp.
Agreed. I noticed that there were several points where Ryan stopped the truck, and he shouldn't have - it was asking too much for the loaded-up tires to try to climb up from a dead stop on a road full of chocolate pudding that has a significant incline. You just don't do that, no matter what you're driving. And this also applies to the clowns in this message thread who insist that their Subaru CrossTreks could have made it up the hill! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😆😆😆😆😆😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣😅😅😂😂😂😂
I havent been able to get my gladiator on nitto trail grappler 40's stuck, I usually air down to at least 20psi. I've seen Raptors on 40's, but I probably would only do real 37's on one (BFG runs 1" small). Thanks for reminding me never to buy something like the ridge grappler or ko2 ever again.
With that kind of mud - chains on the front tires. I've spent entire days driving through caliche clay mud in Utah, New Mexico, and northern Arizona. The chains make all the difference.

There are times, the biggest baddest truck will still get stuck...there are limits to all vehicles...seen a bulldozer get stuck one time...and that's hard to do
Perhaps the driver is to blame, but we are left with the impression from practice that the Ranger Raptor has much better passability in such places. In addition, there is a device called a frontal winch, and in front there was also a support tree ...
I don’t think the wandering is related to the faint lines. The same thing happens with my F150 Lightning when I have Blue Cruise on, even when lane centering is on as well. It’s something Ford needs to fix.

Excellent choice buying the Tacoma I have a 21 TRD ORDC 4x4 automatic and wouldn’t trade it for any truck out there . By far best truck I’ve bought in 27years . I sold my 2017 Tacoma in 2018 and bought several other different truck brands and went right back to the Tacoma .
I would take a ZR2 over the Raptor R. I realize the R has more power is faster etc. . But no front locker??? If I’m paying 110+ for an F150 it better have every option known to man. I’ll take the ZR2 for less money with a front lock.
Worth it even with less hp. Could throw a supercharger on it and would have beast of a truck while saving money, could put~ 30k of upgrades on a zr2 for the cost of the raptor r.
Another great video review from Ryan! I really wish you would invest in a set of Maxtrax traction boards, you would have been out of there quick without all of the back breaking labor lol.

Between the manufacturer and the dealership, I'd bet the profit margin on a truck like this is pushing 50%.
I'll bet its more than that. The base price jumped $23k for no reason and this and this is $33k over that.
love the raptor videos and getting stuck!
Snow chains work really well in slurry mud. A guy in North Queensland, Australia runs them in the wet season.
Man ain’t none of us winning as consumers with these prices.
Great video Ryan. But KO2 tires are only good for dry terrain, they're not anywhere near as capable as others in the all terrain segment.
@JR'S Cars & Guitars
Exactly, I had the KO2's on my FJ and absolutely hated them. They were scary as hell to drive on wet or snow covered roads and were horrible on muddy trails. I took a loss and replaced them early with Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3's. My wife will drive it in bad weather with confidence now and we are both happy with the Bridgestones!
People love these tires for some reason.
Nice! except if you see one it will never be off road and the owner has too much MONEY $96,000 msrp
@onehandwashestheotherso you think Bezos works harder than one of his warehouse workers who aren't allowed bathroom breaks? Workload is often not correlated with salary.
Maybe, I am mistaken but it seems the price of the Raptors keep climbing alarmingly and perhaps the customer base is shrinking. Perhaps, in general, the only persons that can afford these are contractors who can write them off as part of their business?
They do keep going up.
of all the videos i hve seen of ur channel, this one was the best, what a suspense.... problem solving... those rocks behind the tires to turn, never heard of it. it was fun to watch. you should teach offroading and talk more about tips like those.
And then the Subaru comes cruising right by without a problem where this Raptor got stuck LOL
Loved this episode . had been same situation before. there was no way get out without a winch
I’d say always bring traction boards. Better to have and not need
100k+ truck ?
No winch or boards priceless
Mud season is the great equalizer.
Love the Quality of your VIDEOS!
I havent been able to get my gladiator on nitto trail grappler 40's stuck, I usually air down to at least 20psi. I've seen Raptors on 40's, but I probably would only do real 37's on one (BFG runs 1" small). Thanks for reminding me never to buy something like the ridge grappler or ko2 ever again.
ive had 4 raptors. Now i have the BEST TRX no joke
Would have liked to see it be put in mud/slippery mode
With that kind of mud - chains on the front tires. I've spent entire days driving through caliche clay mud in Utah, New Mexico, and northern Arizona. The chains make all the difference.
Hey man, this Raptor R is a vehicle that I like and dream of very much!! But after this video, I decided to stay in my Dachia Duster. I will definitely beat you.
Beautiful beast 😍
Ram TRX been real quite as soon as this thing came out
Simple truth is no machine is unstuckable.
Stop stopping man.
EXACTLY! You got it! 😀😀😀
I cannot WAIT to smoke one of these in my Rivian!!! 🤤
Everybody saying that Raptor R is better car than TRX. But nobody says exactly why. All I hear is that TRX has better interior quality)
There are times, the biggest baddest truck will still get stuck...there are limits to all vehicles...seen a bulldozer get stuck one time...and that's hard to do
I love how the background music is the same from Super Caesars Palace from Super Nintendo days.
32:53 "welp, that's someone else's problem now..." **boulder rolls menacingly downhill at 148mph**
Perhaps the driver is to blame, but we are left with the impression from practice that the Ranger Raptor has much better passability in such places. In addition, there is a device called a frontal winch, and in front there was also a support tree ...
Should have towed it out with a Subaru 😊
Lmao. Then the 4Runner can come pull them both out
@@haroldbeauchamp3770 LOL there was a reason they came prepared with a Jeep
@@erich2186 haha that’ll do it too
I don’t think the wandering is related to the faint lines. The same thing happens with my F150 Lightning when I have Blue Cruise on, even when lane centering is on as well. It’s something Ford needs to fix.
Hey Ryan! I know this is quite a long shot, but I was just curious. Will you be reviewing the Toyota Tacoma 2023 anytime soon? I know you’ve already tested the 2022, and odds are, they’re quite the same, but I was just curious because I’m getting a 2023 Tacoma soon. Just wanted to see what was on the menu! Great work, and thank you for all you do!
Thats my dream 4x4 right there. Soon ❤
We need the Ford Ranger Raptor 2023 test😍🙌🏼
I would take a ZR2 over the Raptor R. I realize the R has more power is faster etc. . But no front locker??? If I’m paying 110+ for an F150 it better have every option known to man. I’ll take the ZR2 for less money with a front lock.
Worth it even with less hp. Could throw a supercharger on it and would have beast of a truck while saving money, could put~ 30k of upgrades on a zr2 for the cost of the raptor r.
Would airing down have helped in the situation?
Back to the dealer for my money back , for that amount of money I want the moon and back
no front locking differential for $112k is wild
Another great video review from Ryan! I really wish you would invest in a set of Maxtrax traction boards, you would have been out of there quick without all of the back breaking labor lol.
We have a set. Just didn’t bring them that day. Oops.

Maybe next time
😀.
Cool truck but I can’t help but feel like an old K5 with a huge v8, solid axles, some boggers and a lead foot would have handled this no problem for a literal tenth of the price.
As long as you didn't stop every 70 feet & expect to be able to proceed again on a muck-loaded steeply inclined trail, I think you're right.
Momentum is your friend, you don't seem to know that... 🤔💡🤔
Sorry to say it, if true, how do you get stuck in a 4x4 raptor? Isn’t that suppose to be impossible? Got to be smarter than the machine!
Great effort 👌, try the same conditions by Toyota Land cruiser
