There's just something neat about doing stuff like this. I have a perfectly good phone, that runs UA-cam easily at 1080p, with great audio quality. But it's -cool- having videos on a GBA, or a DS, or straight up watching UA-cam on a 3DS. The audio sucks. The quality sucks. But it makes my brain feel pleasantly fuzzy, so I'm gonna keep doing it.
Since I've recently started my retro journey with my old psp, your series is just the perfect thing to watch while I rediscover childhood games. It's like periodically finding out what your friend has discovered on their journey😊 Keep it going, your videos are great!
Oh hey! So glad someone else had this idea, I love dumb stuff like this. I personally converted all my college projects that I did to GBA roms. It's crazy to see these videos I spent many many hours on filming and editing in full HD run on this super tiny resolution screen. I love it. Now I just need to put that degree towards making content on UA-cam instead of making them into GBA files lol. Thanks for sharing this! It's great to see things like this spread ^_^
I love putting random videos on old devices like this. Did it with my DSi, 3DS, Wii, and even an old Blackberry. Something about it is just so fun from the process, to even watching the video. I love it! I also use ffmpeg for all my video conversion needs. It's a bit tough to learn at first, but once you've got the commands down it make converting a whole library of videos a breeze

I used to do stuff like that back in high school. I ripped youtube videos of amvs and formatted them with super converter. Though back then there weren't cartridges you can plop micro sd cards into. The model I had came with its own loader that plugged to the computer via usb and it took forever to load anything into the cartridge. It was worth it to watch those videos everywhere and to play with primordial nes emulation. Good times.
The result is so surreal that makes feels like the video was just “added in post”, otherwise this is freaking cool. Also, thanks for sharing the video.
The GBA was truly ahead of it's time, to have a video, FMV 'S (whatever you wanted to called it) played on a portable console, WITH an audio is just a mind-blowing stuff Despite the compression, it still sounds great and clear! (To me at least) The GBA rocks!

I didn't knew about the 32MB ROM size limitation, although I presume that maybe it is possible to use some memory bank switching witchcraft in other to "keep the ROM 32MB" while there is something else switching parts of the 32MB ROM in order to allow a bigger video to be played. Yes, it is a rather specific and silly idea, but there is certainly someone with the GBA expertise out that to pull this trick out of curiosity, nostalgia or just to kill the boredom. That was a fun video. Keep up with the fun content. o/ :3

i think some people can make really good meme's fit the GBA rom file size as a gag gift, or make a gif of said vtuber chilling in the GBA like a tamogachi.
I had a couple of these with Pokemon episodes on them as a kid. I haven't watched them since back then, but I remember noticing that the video quality was bad even as a kid. If I could notice it was worse than my VHS copies as a child....I'm not brave enough to see what I would think about them as an adult, lol.
Back when I was very little, I had a video now. I used to watch stuff on it all the time. I stopped using it though when I got a portable dvd player, but still it was cool!
I'm a bit aware that you can watch TV shows and movies on GBA, but it was before I noticed it, because the first portable console I knew that can do that was the PSP, mine was the 2001 model that was the Daxter + Family Guy bundle, I only know the Family Guy one was a UMD Video that contains like 5 episodes. But it's kinda fun to watch videos on portable consoles, I'm planning to add some videos on my PSP
