Football stadiums have often been part of the heart of many cities. Some have suggested that great stadiums should be seen as an important part of the social and cultural fabric of the city.
In this video, retired footballer Alan Hansen explains his reasons why he thinks Liverpool FC is viewed as a great football club, and recalls some of his fond memories playing at Anfield.

I remember very well when Alan Hansen made his debut for Liverpool. An absolutely class player a Rolls Royce of a defender always reading the game. Also look at the other team mates he had in those days any team that won anything had a Scotsman in their team. My thoughts and prayers are with Alan and his family

1977 what a great year, Hansen makes his debut, Liverpool win their first European Cup and I was born. 😉😄

Liverpool never had a crowd of 55k in 1977 with 10k outside. Their average crowd in Hansen's first season was 45,660.

@@keithrobson593No, but we know the maximum crowd was 50,000 as that was its capacity. Sure, just go and increase Liverpool’s trophy count by 20% because it doesn’t really matter or say that they won the FA Cup in 1977 - that would be closer to the truth as they finished second. Just heard the sad news that Alan Hanston is seriously ill in hospital. Thoughts are with him and his family at this difficult time. Hope he doesn't die because Liverpool will milk it for all it's worth, like they do with everything.
He is much loved and very unwell and yet the 2nd half of your post is dreadful. Show some respect.
A reputable historian using the information garnered from several gladiator tombstones estimated their average age at death as 27. Hansen said it was 33, but I think we can safely discount his claim.
