Hey Dave, Thanks for a Fantastic Montage of "Al" Legend is often Overused. Al was our Kenny at the Back, Superb player, Captain, Gentleman, Diplomat. Not bad for someone who failed schoolboy trials at Anfield. Was going nowhere as a Midfielder at Partick Thistle, the real rough end of Glasgow. It was Jock Stein who called Bob Paisley about Al, he said "he had something, your sort of player" The Rest is History! Thanks for the Vid, Superb Work. YNWA Al Get well soon from all REDS Fans!
Best wishes to Alan. I have seen him on his way into Anfield a few times, the last time was only a few weeks ago and he looked well although didn't want to be recognised which is understandable. Very sorry to hear he's so ill.
My Dad loved him. One of my earliest memories was standing at Villa Park and my Dad nudges me 'watch Alan, he walks through a game and cleans up everything' and sure enough he did. He would read the play perfectly, intercept, twist one way, then another then another and play it back to Bruce. And then walk away nonchalantly with his farmer's walk. if the Reds needed a goal, he would step up and charge forward. I heard a great quote last week that Socrates use 'play the game like he was walking through a shopping centre looking at the windows'. Remined me of Al.
Fantastic work, Dave. 'Jocky' truly was a great exponent in the art of defending. Smooth as silk. Imagine him beside big Virgil today. Unbeatable. Let's hope the big fella pulls through. Thanks.
This shows Alan wasnt just a world class defender but a quality goal maker and scorer. Thoughts and wishes with you and your family Alan. A great tribute to a great player. Thanks for posting it.
He made it look easy, from the stands it looked effortless watching Hansen stepping out of defence into midfield. Pure class. Lets hope he can recover from his serious illness #ynwa
Alan was a truly brilliant centre half and my favourite TV analyst of all time. He really understands the game like very few do. Get well Alan. Best wishes to a great.
Man U fan here... stay strong and get well soon Alan, love you to bits - like anyone that ever saw you does. You have always been one of my favourite players and also pundits. Brilliant player and a great man everyone says, and I always believe.
He was a world class center back, loved watching him at anfield with my dad early 80's, spot on this dave, Keep strong Alan we all love ye in Liverpool keep fighting, once a red always one #YNWA 💯❤️🙏🏽
He is one of the greatest defenders that I have ever had the pleasure to see play live. In what was I believe to be the penultimate game of the season in the late 80's at Hillsborough with Liverpool already crowned champions in a match that they would beat Wednesday 5-1, he led the Wednesday players a merry dance in his own box and they didn't get the ball off him. If he was playing today he would be an absolute superstar just like he was back in the 70's and 80's.
My favourite player as a kid and probably in life.. l was a defender from a child in to an adult.. I based my game on Alan Hansen.. He was a baller, a complete player and I think he could have played in any team in the world during his career.. if he was Brazilian, German or Argentinian he would not be so overlooked or underrated.. Name any centre half during his time, i bet he is in the top ten of all time best defensive players..
Absolute Rolls-Royce of a defender only Beckenbauer in Europe compares to big jockey. Scotland never appreciated how good he was instead they picked the two from Aberdeen which was ridiculous.
Well done Dave, best defender we've ever had, lets hope he's ok.The £60,000 from Partick was a bit expensive ,especially when you compare it with £75 million to Soton!lol.
The compilation does not really show the greatest quality I experienced watching countless matches on (scandinavian) TV with Hansen playing - When he got the ball, regardless of where on the pitch, the result was always good. He did never fumble or do anything rash, when he delivered the ball it was always to Liverpools advantage. Not really a Liverpool supporter at the time, Liverpool was by far the most televised team, being at the time probably the best team in the world. Me and by brother used to try to find fails when Hansen had the ball, the fails were extremely few. He really had a fooball brain.
Pffft rubbish Alex Ferguson's hatred for liverpool and underlying Scottish angst was the reason why.. there was more meaning when Alan Hansen said you can't win the title with kids... what he really meant was that it takes time for players to gain the skills.. Alex proved that football IQ could be earned in less years.. Whatever the case Alan Hansen was a fair better player than anything Alex Ferguson ever produced hahaha
The greatest central defender this country has ever produced. Bar none! Bobby Moore? Not even close. That's how good he was. Only Mark Lawrenson did come close. For me he pushed Beckenbauer.
He was my favourite player as a child, looking back his still in my top 5 of all time.. he could have played for any team of his generation... a complete baller
Such a class act. Keep fighting Alan from a Stoke City supporter and admirer of LFC 70s, 80s and early 90s teams
Classy defender who was well ahead of his time. Get well soon Alan. Swansea fan
Hansen is a class act off the field....Just as he was a genius on the field
Alan Hansen is one of the best Defenders ever to pull on the jersey of Liverpool Football Club. Get well soon Jocky..
One of the best players mate, never mind defenders. He was a phenomenal footballer in his day.
@@PAP-o7l Still hard to believe that he only won 28 (??) Caps for Scotland - who the hell was better ?!?!?
What a player. What a team ❤
@@PAP-o7l I agree with you. Hansen was so classy on the ball. Great player!

Keep fighting mate 💪
YNWA
Stay strong Alan. Not Liverpool fan but enjoyed listening to his punditry
Hansen is my hero, the best defender Liverpool have ever had.
Nice one Dave, class player, how did he only get 26 caps but what a career for Liverpool. Get well soon Alan, YNWA.

The goal against Norwich at Anfield was shown on the opening credits of Grandstand in late 1980/early 1981
This shows Alan wasnt just a world class defender but a quality goal maker and scorer. Thoughts and wishes with you and your family Alan. A great tribute to a great player. Thanks for posting it.
He could think 10 yards quicker than most players could run.
WBAFC ❤
Keep fighting
Just as good as Beckenbuar in my opinion, Keep fighting Jocky YNWA
😂 "as good as Beckenbauer" 😂
Captain Scarlet Alan Hansen, Liverpool's greatest defender. Van Dijk closet thing to him. But Hansen was and always will be number 1.
Liverpool has had far better centre-backs than Van Dijk.
He made it look easy, from the stands it looked effortless watching Hansen stepping out of defence into midfield. Pure class. Lets hope he can recover from his serious illness #ynwa
Alan you served Liverpool very well ... my thoughts are with you now.
Alan was a truly brilliant centre half and my favourite TV analyst of all time. He really understands the game like very few do. Get well Alan. Best wishes to a great.

Great compilation Dave well done
The interception and pass to Rushie in the 5-0 was sublime
Rushie got the plaudits for that game, but Alan Hansen;s part in the whole game was faultless
World class defender my thoughts are with you and your family get well Alan, Darren Angel Liverpool fan.
Liverpool Legend ❤️ One of the best players to wear the red shirt ❤️Get Well Soon Alan "Jocky" ❤️🤍YNWA🤍❤️

Great player and a good sensible pundit
I do hope he gets through his illness but, when someone is said to be seriously ill they tend not to 🤦😔
He's one of my childhood idols
Alan hansen was a elegant and classy defender. Shame to hear he's not well
Absolute Rolls-Royce of a defender only Beckenbauer in Europe compares to big jockey. Scotland never appreciated how good he was instead they picked the two from Aberdeen which was ridiculous.
I always remember his diving header against charlton in 87 at the kop end in the pouring rain. I hope he’s ok.
Well done Dave, best defender we've ever had, lets hope he's ok.The £60,000 from Partick was a bit expensive ,especially when you compare it with £75 million to Soton!lol.
Get well soon legend 🙌🏾
Handsome man, he always was.
From Partick Thistle. Discovered by the greatest scout of them all... Geoff Twentyman
What a player big Al was!!!!!!!!!!
Alan Hansen was a great footballer. 😊

Only 27 caps for Scotland is criminal.

State of those pitches
8 league titles. Scotland must have had some team in 86
4.25 The miss by Dalgleish was unbelievable.
Should have sold Kenny on the spot 🤣
Why wasn’t he picked for the 1982 World Cup?
he was and made a bad mistake v USSR
