Thanks very much for your sink install video. I was installing my bathroom sink plumbing using PVC pipes. I was not putting plumbers tape on and I constantly had leaks. After watching your video and you said put the plumbers tape on just in case. And now after using plumbers tape install is complete leak free.
Putting one in exactly like that in my condo which goes on the market in two weeks. THANK YOU. Saved me allot of time when I can plan it out. You're a great instructor.
Great tutorial for anyone with modest plumbing skills. I read some negative comments below and just want to say that plumbers putty and tape are a plumbers best friend, whether it be metal threads or plastic. (I personally hate plastic piping threads, but it's now on everything) You got it all right in my book !! Well done !
mikecarter79 thank you my friend. Whos to say what is right or wrong.? This is the way I do it and maybe folks can learn what works best for them. And if it doesn’t leak, it’s probably my correct! Lol. Thanks so much for commenting!
I like him, he's funny 😊 And I saw another comment saying "I'm the wife." Ditto. I'm tackling a whole bathroom reno. Gotta love UA-cam for videos like this! I would have attached the top first then everything else and would have been frustrated being jammed under a sink trying to reach everything. So thank you for the tip!!
Excellent job with video! I followed it to a "T" (no pun intended-LOL), and the install went great. You don't talk too much. You showed every step perfectly. Thank you so much!
Thank you for taking time making this video! You are a great instructor. I’ll try to do the job with my daughter in a few weeks. Your video will help a lot! Btw, I’m the wife.
Good job. Make sure you wrap your Teflon tape in the opposite direction of the threads that way it doesn't unwrap itself as you are tightening the fitting FYI.
Thanks bro. Great tutorial. Do you think its best to use teflon tape on the threads of the plastic parts? Im always nervous and put the tape on but some say its not necessary? Even when I use it though, sometimes i will still get small amounts of seepage at one joint or another. Just curious as to your take on it. Thanks again.
hey bulls! great question.. never had an issue on the trap assembly but the screw on cap of the drain seems to be a problem sometimes, even though its plastic to plastic, I tape it always now.. a pain but its worse to have to pull it back apart again. thanks for the comment!
Hi d. If your pipe in the wall is galvanized, you would need a threaded pvc fitting to screw onto it, if you cant do the threaded, than a rubber no hub coupling with band clamps would work out for you.. thanks for the comment!
Perhaps the drain popup is plastic- and hence the instructions say not to use plumbers putty. Oatey's PP says not to use on plastic. My instructions say to use silicone sealant. Would that be something like GE SIlicone II?
hi micah.. yes that should work... people get into their own way of doing things.. ive always found plumbers putty to be trustworthy.. i hope this helps!
hi bill, im guessing youre referring to the plumbers putty? theres no "clean up". after you set the drain assembly in the sink and tighten it down, the putty will mushroom out and you can pull it away. i hope this helps! thanks for watching!
would you have a repair solution for a wet side panel of a bathroom vanity? the bathroom sink/vanity is near the shower. from water splashing out, the bottom left side of the vanity keeps getting wet. it has now warped and started to peel. I do not want to replace the entire vanity as 95% of it is on great shape. it is just the one side bottom that needs repair. Thanks!
1frankgulko hi Frank great question. If you're just having a little flaring issue from a wet panel you can always use a thin finished piece of wood and create a new side for it and go right over top of what you have now. That's the way to dress it up but just make sure it is painted with a semi gloss paint or a polyurethane coat put on it if it's wood grain. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
so i got a new vanity to install.. my drain goes into floor vs wall. both the sink drain and floor pipe drain have no threads how do you pick out the pipes and also create a seal?
real education. great show how to do. but i did mine both bath. cabinet dried out. counter turning bad color. faucet rusted. i had a crooked left side floor. wall sunked in in middle.right side corner wall crooked.didnt take me short time. to do.took over 7 days to get right.please show video on this floor and wall messed up. when install .thanks man.but mine was a pain in the butt...take care man
My bathroom sink drain is clogged to the point where the plumber says it would cost $4,000. I have the drain, bu I don't know how to put it together to drain in my bath tub.I want to have the vanity faucet tube drain in my tub. Can you please tell e how to do it?
I don't have a wall to connect my faucet to drain. It is damaged. I do have a vanity but it can't drain the normal way. I have to have the water drain in a bucket, in the toilet or in the bath tub. I must be off because I can't figure out how to do this. I have to keep using the kitchen sink .My eyes are 63 years old , maybe that's why I can't figure it out. lol!!!
Your wife will be proud!?! I'm the wife and I'm trying to do this! Otherwise this is a great, straightforward video but...too bad the tricky bit with attaching the p trap to the wall isn't shown. I'm worried that my pipes won't line up.
you can do it ski! you may need to add pvc pipe if it doesn't line up exactly! like fitting pieces of a puzzle together. just dry fit before you glue! you can definitely do it!
hey jacks... i prefer the ones you can take aprat by hand...the glue traps are a bummer, unless they install a clean out, which is rare... thanks for sharing!
The red can is not the right one you need transition glue to connect the abs to the pvc. Also the abs had paint on it so it won’t make a good seal.nice try
@@homemend the red glue is for abs to abs cpvc to cpvc pvc to pvc. the red can is not made for pipe combos the green can is meant for abs to pvc combo. use the green can not the red.
You need to give a closeup view of every part your talking about. Also, when you go to put something in the front of the sink that we can't see that's not helpful
Hey SL..Sorry your having trouble..i demonstrated the trap assembly before putting it in. if you want to show me on facebook..i can talk you through it. i hope this helps! Homefacebook.com/home.mender.31?ref=bookmarks

The pipe sticking out of the wall is smaller than the 1 1/2 trap adapter. Should I wrap it with plumbers putty?
Hey Danielle that might be an inch and a quarter, bathroom sinks use the smaller one sometimes. Just get an inch and a quarter trap adapter :-)
Thanks for the video
Thank you bro!
Great video man. You helped me with a job I'm about to do. Cool. Keep it up!
awesome robert! thanks for the comment!
great video. if the pipe coming out of my wall is galvanized..can I still use that pvc adaptor/marvel adaptor? my Ptrap is also pvc

It's because the plumber's putty us oil based and oil can damage plastic over time.

So they say not to use plumber's putty on plastic...! So why did you use it anyway instead of silicone?
Hey Jack they come with this little plastic or rubber gasket that is supposed to serve as the plumbers putty but I don’t trust it so I don’t use it

I recommend to use sch 40 p traps not the tubular traps
hey jacks... i prefer the ones you can take aprat by hand...the glue traps are a bummer, unless they install a clean out, which is rare... thanks for sharing!
They also make a glue trap with one nut on it so you can clean it out.
Here is a part number of one I like to use with the nuts.78215
WHY DIDNT I WATCH THIS AT THE BEGINNING OF MY PROJECT INSTEAD OF STRUGGLING FOR A MONTH
Awe so sorry ms Leigh! You got this. I would've come earlier if I would've known! If you have any questions feel free to ask! You can do it!!
You didn’t put any plumber’s putty on the faucet base which attaches on top of the sink
Hey bro. The newer faucets come with a plastic gasket there’s no need to put plumbers putty there. I hope this helps
You just glued pvc to abs witch is not code it will leak
