Not overpriced, watch Dirtbox Overland and Ronny Dahl. They are discounting because dealers are flooded with the last production for 2024 so the factory can build quartermaster truck and the 2025’s. Ineos anticipated 7000 cars sold in US for 2024 they have already sold over 8000 and heading for 9000 and that’s with essentially no advertising. My local dealer sold 35 last month more than all there other brands.
We drove one. Impressive build quality. Just very high priced and it’s probably better to wait until they trickle down on the used market to 54k or so.
Go tap on the frame of a wrangler or gladiator then the Grenadier. Check the payload and towing capacity. Look at the steering components, high pinion diffs, double Cardan front axle, full floating rear and a true non clutch off-road transfer case built in America. Well done Mr. Hardy.
This car is named after a pub in London called The Grenadier. Quite appropriate for this car. What makes a car 'cool' is a quality of its own measure. The British automotive television program Top Gear with used to have something called the Cool Wall that ranked cars based solely on how 'cool' they are. I think that if the 'Cool Wall' was still around this would be very cool, or what Top Gear would refer to as 'Sub Zero'. Everybody likes cool car. Go down to the local pub/bar and say you have a Land Cruiser and nobody will bat an eye, but say you have an Ineos Grenadier and you will quickly be making friends.
Everyone complaining about the price, have you not seen the price of lets say...a new Ford Maverick? $45k for a mickey mouse truck. Makes this look like a great option.
the problem it's just hard to use as regular car. you got a wrangler it has all the modern car amenities and big screen U connect easy to use and ergonomic just better in those. If you looking at the Grenadier the material is solid but it looks in 90's plastic vs, there is some design choice and color in the Jeep and Bronco. Ineos is a hardcore vehicle its fine it's just won't be as big of market seller as wrangler/Bronco because it's not good as for daily
Picked mine up last week and really happy with it. I have been more excited about driving this than my lx600. If i have passengers, i’ll drive the LX but if just by myself, i’ll drive this. Loaded it up with 5 full size luggages plus carry ons with no problem. Surprised about the mpg too. Getting 17.5 to 18 which means fewr trips to the gas station.
Not a daily driver, too off-road-ish and uncomfortable, I switched to the LC First edition! But I do agree with you, if you are an off-roader and have a second vehicle for daily driving, it is a no brainer.
Definitely some great deals compared to what those of us who did build-to-order got. That said, my dealer said some of the lot inventory was “quirky.” Since originally we could just put $500 down on an order with no contract, they even gave me an example where a customer had 3 ordered - and delivered but never purchased. For those pre-launch orders, people were still learning. So maybe something on the lot doesn’t have the compass, or the roof aux power or something - the customer could just back out and order a new one. The whole point of this approach was it de-risked the initial purchase for a vehicle that nobody had seen in the wild - except for those of us who tested it in another market or participated in some of the regional pre-production off-road events. My guess is that, just like the dealers didn’t charge markup, Ineos is doing something to “make them whole” on the back end for clearing out remaining ‘24 inventory. But yeah, someone can get a really good deal right now off lot stock, and there are still some pretty sweet configs on that stock.
I own one personally and 1hr away from a Midwest dealer (IL). Even that I was hesitant of purchasing my pre-order due to the lack of dealer & service network and no road side assistance. I've talked to someone who had a pre-order from OH and he had the same concerns. If they don't improve on the service/dealer network this issue will continue. With 3 months in with 5K miles, so far so good. Still need to get used to the steering.
You never want to order a “base” anything. Whatever it is you think you are saving will cost you big time at trade in. The good news is, now that the hype is dying down, many who buy such a hardcore SUV will quickly tire of them and revert back to Denalis and Land Rivers. At 54k and under 10k miles, probably in late 2025, these will become interesting. I just hope the AC situation is fixed. Many have had issues and that would be a huge problem. Also, at the current price point, the handles shouldn’t be plastic.
I agree with you. That said, I don't think I've seen one video review that doesn't mention the ADAS / Speed Limit Warning. In my opinion, if they would have fixed that on day one, they wouldn't have had to do a discount. It is one of the most annoying 'features,' ever. That's a fact, not an opinion.!

The center dash lighting at night is horrid. It’s fine during the day but irritatingly bright at night. So in front of driver at night is nothing because the main dash panel is located in the center and is obnoxiously bright and distractive at night. Test drive at night before you buy.
Wrangler out of the box comes re geared 35" tires triple locked electronic sway bar it's far more capable and the aftermarket and dealer service is everywhere in usa for 2ok less.
You can't get a comparably equipped 4-door Wrangler for $20K less. As a Jeep owner having bought 6 new Jeeps I can attest Jeeps are way overpriced for what they offer.

4runnerhas IFS and weak tie rods that break easily when pushed hard offroad...same issue with the GX. Even the Land Cruiser IFS had a habit of breaking a lot. The grenadier and the Nissan Super Safari have both front and rear solid axles.....and are MUCH TOUGHER.

I need something for some mild off-roading, mild towing, big trips, small home repairs etc… I got a new Lexus GX460 in 2023 for $62,000 it’s much more of a well rounded vehicle for $20,000 less. People go on and on about solid axels etc… COST! Think about it, my GX even though it’s not a solid front axel, the diff, axel shafts, hubs, control arms etc all cost something, so you subtract that cost from my GX and add the cost of a solid front axel, is that really an additional $20,000? No! So what are you getting for $20,000 ADDITIONAL dollars? There is a bunch of stuff you can take off dollars wise on my GX, the 3rd row of seats, the rear air conditioning unit, the mark levinson stereo, you lose those with the grenadier… ok… so what does that buy you in its place? Where is the additional $20,000?
Not a word that if you change the tires to bigger ones, you lose the warranty for the whole car. In my opinion, this car is not even this price after the discount, it is an untested new product, if it wants to be successful it should cost 10-15% less than the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, but even if you buy it after the sale, believe me, you will leave in the BMW service (because only the BMW service can service Ineos so as not to lose the warranty) the second amount you saved on the discount. For this price it is better to buy a new Land Cruiser Prado or Lexus GX550
I absolutely love the Grenadier - BUT the lack of a normal driver dash is absolutely a deal breaker. I know it supposedly an "off road" feature; but its just awful! I also worry about the longevity of the company/reliability of the vehicle and lastly, that BMW engine makes me nervous. Keep us posted on yours. By the time they will hopefully change that dash - it may prove to be a legitimate alternative.

The one mistake Ineos made was not going with IFS. If IFS was considered the best choice for G-wagon, it should be for Grenadier as well; without the extremely poor driving dynamics on-road. The Grenadier would have been so much more popular, but one drive and people hate the way it steers, and how the steering wheel does not return to center after making a turn.
No manufacturers offer a discount because they are just being nice. It is really a niche vehicle. Your average soccer mom is not going to buy this. Sales must not be what they want.
It's for more foreward visibility. Keep in mind this is primarily designed for off-roading, and visibility is important off-road. That being said they probably could have found a better solution to keep it in front of the driver while still maintaining good visibility instead of putting it in the center. But so far the people who own them or have driven them have said they get used to it being in the center and it doesn't really bother them so🤷🏽♂️...
The steering on this is similar to the Land Cruiser 70 series....and probably the discontinued G class professional pickup...which the Grenadier competes with. If this is a success, the UN likely will start using this truck also....
The grenadier would sell better if it was powered by a GM V8 or a Toyota V6. Stuffing a BMW engine under the hood and then advertising it on the hood like its a badge of honor is most definitely going to turn away most potential buyers of "reliable" offroaders. Regardless of whatever the B58 is known for in the auto enthusiast world, most buyers in this category arent necessarily car enthusiasts.
The B58 is better than any GM or Toyota engine, bar none, no question, and extremely durable & low maintenance. That’s why. And power & torque for days.

BMW has a huge history of chronic VANOS issues and it's highly expensive to repair. BMW timing chain guides? Tensioners? You think pulling the engine out for this stuff is better? Has a B58 proven itself to handle a life off the beaten path 4x4s of this caliber are thought to live in? Electric water pumps, sensors, annoying plastic clips all over a B58? You need SSTs to work on a B58 in a white glove environment. A GM truck V8 or a Toyota V6 can be repaired with shoe strings, a toy hammer and some bubble gum on the side of a trail if it ever gets to that point. Parts alone for a B58 isn't exactly stocked at a local parts store in Moab, UT, Fort Mohave, CA or Zimbabwe Africa if something were to break and need to be repaired on the trail. Nobody in the history of 4x4s has ever even dreamed while drunk of swapping a B58 into their 4x4 project. But everyone's literally thought "LS SWAP THAT THING!" What does everyone and they're momma all over the globe say about a V6 4Runner? RELIABLE AS F and the same engines are optional in all their extreme use 4x4s from the base LC70 pickups to the big daddy LC300s. He'll, even frigging Lotus used the Toyota V6. So, how is a BMW B58 a better engine fit for offroader duty?

It's also a concession to less parts mixture at the factory, keep the cluster in the middle, swap the steering wheel per market.

Stuffing a BMW engine under the hood and then advertising it on the hood like its a badge of honor is most definitely going to turn away most potential buyers of "reliable" offroaders. Regardless of whatever the B58 is known for in the auto enthusiast world, most buyers in this category arent necessarily car enthusiasts.
The B58 is better than any GM or Toyota engine, bar none, no question, and extremely durable & low maintenance. That’s why. And power & torque for days.

BMW has a huge history of chronic VANOS issues and it's highly expensive to repair. BMW timing chain guides? Tensioners? You think pulling the engine out for this stuff is better? Has a B58 proven itself to handle a life off the beaten path 4x4s of this caliber are thought to live in? Electric water pumps, sensors, annoying plastic clips all over a B58?
You need SSTs to work on a B58 in a white glove environment. A GM truck V8 or a Toyota V6 can be repaired with shoe strings, a toy hammer and some bubble gum on the side of a trail if it ever gets to that point. Parts alone for a B58 isn't exactly stocked at a local parts store in Moab, UT, Fort Mohave, CA or Zimbabwe Africa if something were to break and need to be repaired on the trail. Nobody in the history of 4x4s has ever even dreamed while drunk of swapping a B58 into their 4x4 project. But everyone's literally thought "LS SWAP THAT THING!" What does everyone and they're momma all over the globe say about a V6 4Runner? RELIABLE AS F and the same engines are optional in all their extreme use 4x4s from the base LC70 pickups to the big daddy LC300s. He'll, even frigging Lotus used the Toyota V6.
So, how is a BMW B58 a better engine fit for offroader duty?

I know about Toyotas durability testing of the B58 and rejecting parts that failed while the Zupra was in development and BMW openly saying they're adopting Toyotas rigorous testing methods blah blah blah. But an engine for a car driving on paved roads doesn't share the same standard of testing as a 4x4 that has to bounce off boulders and traverse washboard roads. As for known chronic issues for the B58, there's reports and then there's BMWs reputation.
Ineos has went as far as creating a Grenadier prototype powered by a GM V8. I wonder why...

Not a lot of people except for UA-camrs are willing to pay $80k+ for a box on wheels which gets 12mpg and has zero luxury features.

Prediction, you get rid of yours in less than a year. And lucky if they are still in business in 5 years. Very limited target market. Yeah it’s very cool looking and capable, but seems like a rich man’s toy or an average man’s mistake. Reliability? Parts and service costs? I personally would not buy even if that $$ was a non-issue.
