    Northwest Seaplanes scheduled flights to a number of destinations in the Northeast Vancouver Island, BC area, Broughton Islands, Port McNeill and Port Hardy from Seattle. The locations we serve are generally into marinas and marine resorts with seaplanes docks. We also serve locations where a plane to boat transfer of passengers may be necessary. Our aircraft will land and a small boat transfer will be required to transfer passengers and baggage. If you do not see a location listed above, feel free to call and we can discuss the ability to drop or pickup there. We specialize in personal service!
    Northwest Seaplanes is conveniently located on the shores of South Lake Washington on the Renton Airport. We are just minutes from downtown Seattle, downtown Bellevue and the Seattle (Sea-Tac) Airport and offer a complimentary shuttle to the Seattle Airport on your arrival into Seattle.

    This aircraft, Wilga and AN-2 are my favorite bush planes of all time. They all run the radial engine and are built like trucks. Thank you for bringing us along!

    just love the sound of the engine and the scenery. Something I would like to understand. You left the USA and went to Nanaimo. When the video restarted, you flew by Victoria. Did you back track cause to go to Desolation Sound you have to go North of Nanaimo. Great videp

    Super nice video Jim, thanks for sharing your job with us! I have a technical question for you. I'de like to know around what altitude do you start to need to lean out the mixture in your climb? I know that I risk getting an answer like "when it start to sound like I'm outputting less power" but if you could give me a ball park altitude that would be appreciated... Also.. Are you generally more conservative in leaning at climb power compare to 28/1800 cruise in order to protect the engine from overly hot EGT?
    Thank you!Stephan from Northern Quebec!

    • @ifoundjim
      @ifoundjim  7 років тому +3

      Stephan we typically start leaning the engine between 4000-5000 feet on up. Nothing worse than frying a cylinder. And depending on the plane (Beaver) in this case, sometimes adding a bit of carb heat and leaving some on, and always cycling carb heat during flight. When climbing from 5000 and higher I usually have it leaned a bit as well and as you said not quite as much leaning until 28-1850. And... of course on decent which can be a costly mistake, to always increase mixture to avoid overheating and frying cylinders.

    As you can probably tell I am not a pilot but I do enjoy airplanes so these questions are asked out of ignorance also two more questions one what is the highest altitude you can go when your plane to is your plane pressurized????

    • @RADIOACTIVEBUNY
      @RADIOACTIVEBUNY 6 років тому

      You can google all of this. The Beaver is not pressurized.
      Wikipedia will list most of the specs, but you can also find and download the POH for the aircraft, probably. Google "DHC-2 POH" or "Dehavilland Beaver Manual" or something of the like and you can probably find the manual itself with all of the details of the aircraft.

      He often does that. I'm thinking it's easier to break the surface tension of the water if he does it one float at a time. So as soon as one side lifts off, he straightens back out and finishes his rotation.
