Northwest Seaplanes scheduled flights to a number of destinations in the Northeast Vancouver Island, BC area, Broughton Islands, Port McNeill and Port Hardy from Seattle. The locations we serve are generally into marinas and marine resorts with seaplanes docks. We also serve locations where a plane to boat transfer of passengers may be necessary. Our aircraft will land and a small boat transfer will be required to transfer passengers and baggage. If you do not see a location listed above, feel free to call and we can discuss the ability to drop or pickup there. We specialize in personal service!
Northwest Seaplanes is conveniently located on the shores of South Lake Washington on the Renton Airport. We are just minutes from downtown Seattle, downtown Bellevue and the Seattle (Sea-Tac) Airport and offer a complimentary shuttle to the Seattle Airport on your arrival into Seattle.
I have watched this so many times, again it’s been keeping me company in my workshop most of the afternoon. One of my absolute go to videos.
6 yrs is a long time, I hope you are keeping well Jim.
Thank you for the flight. Reminds me of the 38 years in the North.
Great ! The Beaver is such a beautiful plane! The scenery is stunning! And thank You for not adding some silly music:-)
So calming just to hear the engine spinning.... :-)
Sveinung Torgrimsen I agree, thanks for not adding some silly Music. I like the sound of the engine.
You mean silly music which is louder then the person speaking
This aircraft, Wilga and AN-2 are my favorite bush planes of all time. They all run the radial engine and are built like trucks. Thank you for bringing us along!
Just found this, could watch this for hours.
Thank you again. These fishing grounds look familiar!
Enjoyed the long flight. We flew Beaver CF-GYS from Parkin, Central Yukon to Calgary ,on its last flight before being sold.1970-71.
Thanks Jim, for the flight. Love the Beaver (no pun intended 🙂)
That P&W music is beautiful! Thanks for the videos.
really enjoy your videos Jim .. thx again
Gracias Mr. Howard for more of the beautiful beaver
Wow! 2-hours of scenic wonder I have only seen by sailboat and motorcycle. Will pick up the other near 2-hours later on. Very enjoyable adventure...Thanks!

oh my, i still have one of those same Garmin's you have connected up with the little built-in antenna. I bet If I plugged it in, it would still work. it has that green back-light when the light button is pressed as I recall.
Thanks for sharing You are flying over my home. I grew up in Vic. and frequently drove up and down the island. Nice to see from the air. Now live in Sooke on southwest Island.
I love the sound
Good fly....and happy landing keep sharp lookout...?!
Jim Hello! Nice video! Good flight!
alright thanks!
Great video
thank you!
Excellent video, havnt been in a DHC-SKY Tractor since the mid 70's, sure would be nice to climb in for a flight once again !!
Thanks for video without rock music. Just airplane sounds.
Columbia Center really sticks out.
Love your videos. I had the pleasure of being in Seattle last June. 4 days was not enough! Flew in on a Q400. Props are so much cooler than jets.
John Demerse vz
Hi Dorothy, what does vz stand for?
You sure have a lot of fully improved runway available.
miss flying in the alberta north in the workhorses....
That Wasp sounds great, WHAT!
Butiful country.
I used to have a pilot license but never had this beautiful country to fly over.
Very rigid scenery.
She's a beauty, is that a constant speed prop?
just love the sound of the engine and the scenery. Something I would like to understand. You left the USA and went to Nanaimo. When the video restarted, you flew by Victoria. Did you back track cause to go to Desolation Sound you have to go North of Nanaimo. Great videp
It seems like you are going,,home,, Jim!
Super nice video Jim, thanks for sharing your job with us! I have a technical question for you. I'de like to know around what altitude do you start to need to lean out the mixture in your climb? I know that I risk getting an answer like "when it start to sound like I'm outputting less power" but if you could give me a ball park altitude that would be appreciated... Also.. Are you generally more conservative in leaning at climb power compare to 28/1800 cruise in order to protect the engine from overly hot EGT?
Thank you!Stephan from Northern Quebec!
Stephan we typically start leaning the engine between 4000-5000 feet on up. Nothing worse than frying a cylinder. And depending on the plane (Beaver) in this case, sometimes adding a bit of carb heat and leaving some on, and always cycling carb heat during flight. When climbing from 5000 and higher I usually have it leaned a bit as well and as you said not quite as much leaning until 28-1850. And... of course on decent which can be a costly mistake, to always increase mixture to avoid overheating and frying cylinders.
Jim Howard Awesome! Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question that quickly! Fly safe!
Great!
thanks!
+Jim Howard thank you for your videos!
is any chance to have a details of the trip and the expenses? maybe the gas and oil burn too... thanks
Figure 25 gallons an hour cruise flight.
How can fly sheet mountain view flying brouder l halp view. I am from bangka BELITUNG TIMUR. I halp can view ?
I HAD A FLIGHT IN BEAVER NUMBER FOUR UP THE PORTLAND CANAL
As you can probably tell I am not a pilot but I do enjoy airplanes so these questions are asked out of ignorance also two more questions one what is the highest altitude you can go when your plane to is your plane pressurized????
You can google all of this. The Beaver is not pressurized.
Wikipedia will list most of the specs, but you can also find and download the POH for the aircraft, probably. Google "DHC-2 POH" or "Dehavilland Beaver Manual" or something of the like and you can probably find the manual itself with all of the details of the aircraft.
Google it.... ha... nobody says Bing or Yahoo it. That's funny huh?
I would like to fly sea planes in this area for a few summers.
are you familiar with the area?
What is the speed and cruising range for that beautiful plane above yours👍👍👍
3:27:52 what did you say there I couldn't quite understand.
When you leave from Seattle and fly passengers to Hakai or one of the other BC lodges do you have to stop off somewhere once in Canada to clear customs or is there pre-clearance at Renton?
either Nanaimo or Campbell River ususally
I am want have AVIATOR para layang menggunakan motor sport flying high school boy from bangka belitung indonesia. ASIA INDONESIA.
Kita orang mau study flying fower. Hallo brodert how can flying because l'am have my friends simply kalau bahan flaysheet ⛺ tenda ukuran 12x4 meter persegi panjang di gunakan untuk glauding mountain view broder ? I'am sorry penulisan/dialog study flying broder sorry... Sorry study para layang.
What is it they roll on the ceiling?
Trim
How many gallons of fuel does this plane hold
138 and all useable
Where's the space needle?
right now it's under a construction tarp being renovated
What is he doing reaching above at the ceiling????
That's his aileron and rudder trim
3:32:27 full right aileron at take off.. what happened?
He often does that. I'm thinking it's easier to break the surface tension of the water if he does it one float at a time. So as soon as one side lifts off, he straightens back out and finishes his rotation.
Beats flying freight.
