honestly, right off the bat I had no idea explosives were armour piercing, definitely going to spec into them more often in that case, especially mid-late game
They do indeed. I've saved my backside from many an unexpected wandering horde by tossing molotovs and grenades against doors as they were in the process of breaking through.
Great tips - my tip - when you are on a bicycle/ motorcycle etc - if you left click - you can then move the camera left or right so you can look around without steering in that direction. Left click again to return to normal steering mode.
16:06 - I realize this video is almost a year and a half old now, but one thing you didn't mention, regarding explosives, is that zombie cops take *double* damage from all explosions. It's good info to have if you're somehow short on explosives and want to save them for the few cops that show up on earlier horde nights. Also, timed charges are great for taking out individual cops quickly. Timed charges have a base entity damage of 800, and since they do double damage to cops, *any* cop will get taken out with a timed charge. Kind of a niche use for them, but handy if you need to take out a 1k+ hp radiated cop right away. I don't always remember to say this when I comment, but it's always what I'm thinking - I really appreciate all the videos you create and share. They're very informative, not overly drawn out or wordy, and generally really well done. Thanks!
When I get bored I edit the game files to give dynamite 30M radius and make quarries to start a screamer horde fighting arena. I don’t know why I felt compelled to share that, but maybe someone else might want to try a play through using tactical nukes too
I tend to use pipe bomb in latest stage game, to compensate their weak damage, I tend to do Explosives Expert and eat Atomic Junks as if I were an addict. Still worth a lot, and I think there is no zombie that could stand two pipe bombs with double to triple damage, wich is arguably between 460 and 690 damage per pipe bomb, not even Demolishers would stand that, and for that mean, there are rifles and headshots
Just a correction though : some sort of clarification I mean, it's not that explosives pass through zombies armor, it's because they have only physical armor, and as you said perfectly, players have explosive armor attached to the stuff they wear. Which means zombies are more sensible to electricity, fire and explosives because they have no perks at all agains those types of damage (taken into account that players can have protection to fire and electricity only via perks I believe... not sure about that though), meaning pipe bombs (and electricity to a much lesser extend) are life saviors early game against masses of zombies from More Zombies mods, whatever players use.
Pipe bombs are a god send. For the last few years, our group regularly uses over 100 pipe bombs per person each blood moon, they are dirt cheap and stupidly effective.
Just an interesting fact regarding Molotov's. Despite not being what most people think of when you hear the word "grenade". They are in fact considered by the US military to be grenades. Typically referred to as: "Frangible grenades" or "improvised Grenades" Or just "incendiary grenades". Funnily enough the Oxford dictionary specifies that a grenade can be: "a glass vessel filled with chemicals that are dispersed upon being thrown or broken, and can be used to test drains, and extinguish fires" Which... the first half describes a Molotov, but "extinguishing fires" is definitely not what a Molotov does XD
I kept seeing online about poor souls getting killed endlessly in the wasteland by mines. Even heard zombies blowing up in the distance in game. Never blew myself up and was like damn I'm just lucky I guess. Realized I read that book and that's why 🤣
Must ENGAGE with your ENGAGINGLY ENGAGING content!!! Yo, is bullet ricochet... A thing? Like you can hear it in game does it do anything after? I imagine it just damages the first block it hits.
I'm a relatively new 7days to die player. I, on the beginning of day 6, somehow managed to get a zombie bear in the upper floor of my base. In my room. I don't know what to do, the only reason I'm still alive is because I'm crouched in a spot that puts the sneak at 1, in my little corner
I have never heard of that happening lol, maybe try digging the floor out from under you, falling down to the lower floor and running far away and coming back? It should despawn the bear.
@@IzPrebuilt in the time since I posted that comment and now I actually managed to kill it. I threw my only pipebomb at it(somehow didn't aggro) unloaded the rest of my ammo from my pipe machine gun(all of 14 bullets), died to it three times(the room it was in was my respawn room) until I finally managed to get it stuck on the staircase it came up. I spent ten minutes dodging it's attacks around a corner as I punched it to death
Wait wait wait!!! The grenades fuse doesn't start until you throw it? I've been biffing them second I light the fuse because I was afraid it would go off in my hand like a pipe bomb. I mean, the animation does show the spoon flying off and IRL that means the fuse is burning.
You've missed the worst part about landmines, you don't get XP for their use. Putting that under traps used to not give xp might have made sense at some point but now advanced engineering gives you some xp for leveling up the skill, AFAIK landmines still give no xp, so you're spending resources to progress through the game slower.
Is the breaching ammo considered as a type of explosive ammo? I think they were meant to blow up locked doors, but I've never really tried using them before.
I like this video, even if I knew all this. But, I had a doubt, I was testing some things in a test world, like stepping on a mine, throw greandes and that sort of things, and if I took damage while stepping on my own mine, which is realistic, I did not take damage while throwing pipe bombs, and greandes at my feet. That had me to doubt about what happened... a simple grenade thrown at my feet should have killed the level 1 test character... Or at least do some damage and send it flying... no such thing happened. That contrasts with what Glock9 said in it Farmer Glock series, he prefers normal grenades as he "has some time to get back if he fucks this up by throwing it at his feet instead at the zombies". I never threw bombs et myself save for molotoves because the game hit boxes are sometimes stupid... but during this test I took no damage from my grenade... I don't understand why and how is this possible. I just redid it now because of your video, to test it with no creative mode, no developper mode... And yeah. I took no damage from either pipe bomb, grenande or contact grenade, standing just over each of them.
I just tested it again on Nomad difficulty and was very much killed, not sure what's going on in your game but explosives are definitely self-damaging.
@@IzPrebuilt Yes that's weird. I have to try something without any mods, but I do not have any mods that alter this. Maybe the friendly fire has something to do with that. I turn it off because my friends are of the "spray and pray" type. It may prevent yourself from damaging yourself. If that makes any sense.
@@IzPrebuilt Tested without friendly fire "Kill all players" and yes it damaged me, so I think when your turn off the friendly fire it prevents you from getting hurt by your own grenades, you may want to tell this to your other subscribers.

Can you do... Top # things to do before horde night
Another good, clear video. Thanks.
You forgot to mention the requirements to craft the timed charge
Man, I really like your videos! You forgot on exploding cars and those fuel barrels. Like a fivth category! Keep up the good work!
In Alpha 20, you do need to prime the Molotov like a normal grenade
Was just about to post the same thing

Pipe bombs are my new best friends after making this video,
@@IzPrebuilt me too I literally just started using them, fuse can be a bit long to get the most out of them but I'm practicing
Don't forget molotoves fire reaches through closed doors which can make them quite useful in early game.

Timed charges stick to zombies. Impractical but also hilarious to watch 😆
I NEED TO DO THIS NOW
Demolition Zombie: *refuses to explode*
Player: "Fine, I'll do it myself!"
*Slaps C4 onto demo zombies face*
Demolition Zombie: *dies of confusion (and c4)*
Grenades (except for the molly) can go through bars.

Me 17 minutes ago:
Do i really need to watch a 17 minute video about explosives in 7 days to die?
Me now:
Huh
I never knew the landmines did different damage, I thought it was a pure cosmetic change.
Time to continue not using land mines.

I hope so!
The urban combat book also lets you drive vehicles over mines without setting them off.

Nah bullet ricochet isn't a thing.
Land Mine Book Exception: In testing, even with the Urban Combat book read, the Cooking Pot mine still went off at times.
U sir earned a subscription
I always thought that the cooking pot one did the most damage because of it's size.
anyone know how explosive arrows/bolts interact with damageperks? does the explosion gain a damage boost from demo? Archery? Both? Neither?
I can confirm that it doesn't scale with archery but I'm not sure if it scales with demo.
16:28 it's not that expensive in my opinion, all the ingredients can be crafted. I'd make these over grenades any day.
i just blew up my base w 2 panicked pipe bomb throws as mobs were overrunning the base… time to reset

What is your preferred way to get into weapon safes/lockers etc?
27 lockpicks and then 10 minutes of hitting it with a stone axe
The candy then a lock-pick. Works every time.
In vanilla late game I just use augur. But early mid I just use crowbar or pickaxe.
