Fair play to blaze, for a small company to be producing firmware support for £50 devices does show signs they have a good attitude. Maybe avoid hot swapping carts? It could be the sudden jolt of power that's damaging the ROM chips inside them.
These are likely cheap flash memory modules, but the hot swapping issue may still be relevant. After all, when you are uplugging your USB stick or SD card, you are also required to disconnect it to avoid data corruption. Unfortunately, it is not clear in the Evercade's GUI, _when_ is it safe to switch cartridges. The system may be accessing the data on those cartridges even if no game is being played. After all it has to recognize the cartrdidge, games and available savestates somehow.

It's not really hotswapping when he's on the menu. You are supposed to be able to take a cart out there and put in another. Blaze even gave it a sound effect.
It took me a couple of tries until the software recognized my device. I wonder why it's so finicky. At least now I can confirm the issues with the Lynx version of Basketbrawl were NOT fixed. But maybe it's too much to hope for a fix for a legacy cart. I'm glad Cathedral works now. Maybe I'll get it after all.
First of all, make sure to perform this update on a Windows machine. It doesn't work on Mac. The volume up button must be kept pressed continuously throughout the upgrade. If you start the update and withdraw your hand, a lot of problems arise. Don't take your hands off vol up. I did it the first time on a Windows machine.
If the Super Pocket is actually better quality than the Evercade EXP, then I may consider picking it up some time. On the other hand, I may want to wait and see what this new hardware Blaze are working on gets revealed, before doing so.
What’s the experience like with Cathedral on the Super Pocket. I have just picked up a super pocket and Cathedral was one game I was really interested in. I understand Cathedral uses the L1 and L2 buttons. Does this make it a bad experience on the super pocket or is it ok?
It works fine. The shoulder buttons are used but not excessively. So it shouldn't be too cumbersome to use throughout the game. Only issue I found was that the screen is a little squashed. It was meant as a wide-screen game so this would be expected. Ideally it's best on VS or EXP. But at least its now playable on the Super Pocket

I have no clue. I don’t have the Data East Arcade 1 cart and it’s been months since you’ve tested it on the Super Pocket. I kinda doubt that it’s been fixed since this firmware update was primarily about Cathedral (and allegedly Indie Heroes 3), and I didn’t see a mention of Sly Spy, so…
Aw man…I was really hoping that would’ve been fixed as I was tempted to get the Data East Arcade 1 cart for my Super Pocket. But at least Cathedral (and allegedly Donut Dodo) now works.
When you plug in most earphones, the sound will still play through the speaker. It happens to me and you also mentioned it on one of your early review videos of the superpocket.
@@JP-by1vw ah yeah. It was the same issue with the exp. Seems related to the type of headphones used.. 2 notch or 3 notches doesn't connected properly. I dont think firmware will sort it.
I gave up. Tried about 30 times, it will not update after it already says the driver is installed. It makes a noise sometimes that it's connected, but nothing happens, or the Blaze logo and music comes on and the unit starts up. No luck.

As expected I have the same problem as I did with the original evercade. The installer just shows a white screen, won't run on our laptop or PC. It took me over a year before I had access to a PC that could run it. Now going to have to wait again. Why can't they do it via the VS?

I keep getting a error message saying, "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140_1.dll was not found." It says to reinstall the program which I've done numerous times and I still get the system error? Any tips would be appreciated
Did you ever get around this error, I have 2 windows 10 machines and both say the MSVCP140_1.dll even after trying to install visual studio as some forums suggest

I gave up on Cathedral at the Egyptian mage boss fight. It is a pity, since I really liked the game. But, the balancing of the boss fights is on the unfair side.
The Mac installer is useless. It only works if you have a certain combination of Mac OS and that Mac happens to have a certain type of processor chip. Unbelievably complex for something that is designed for people with even less knowledge of this sort of thing than your average EXP user. I tried multiple machines, multiple different cables and git 4-5 different errors. Another terrible updater from Blaze.

There isn't a ROM chip inside any Evercade cart, if there was you wouldn't be able to update them. ROM = Read Only Memory.

I got the "Uninstall Rockchip Driver" error. Needed to use the Rockchip Driver Assistant to uninstall the old driver but worked after that :-)

Took me ages to get it updated last night due to the errors. Donut Dodo runs great and seems to load faster than on the EXP and VS.

How do you check what firmware you have, just got a Pocket and not sure if I should even bother to try updating.
