The esc action is way better, for sure! I also like the trx/rx changes.
I had the same comment about the stupid drop bracket bumper. Can’t believe they didn’t address it! I eliminate that from all my JLU builds. A tad bit of tweaking and no drop bracket required! Great overview from someone who actually knows about SCX24s!! - definitely answered a few outstanding questions I had.
Sweet! You should test the portals from the Panda Tetra 24 in the Atlas 6X6...

Yea I was watching a few videos on it, I think the esc has a little bit of upgrade for sure plus digital controller with more channels. Definitely way better stock slow crawl. I still gotta order one but I’ll get there. Nice video!

Thanks Matt for a great review. My Gladiator is in the mail as we speak. Thanks for the heads up about the ESC. I was ready to pull the trigger on a Furitek Lizard ESC for it. Love the slow speed crawl. I might pull an ESC out of my Jeep build to be able to run the Furitek Lizard ESC. Already plan to catabolize my last build to upgrade this one. Thanks again and keep up the great videos.
Ordered the blue one, I am not huge on the gladiator body , but I think this chassis will fit a hobby plus harvester body great. 23% will likely be mandatory to help turn the bus, should ledge up like an animal after set up right though.

I agree! I wouldn’t even bother upgrading the esc/transmitter at this point. Very good upgrade imo
Excited to see a semi stock build out of this! Won't be the best competition crawler but definitely the most scale of all of the stock SCX24 options.
In my opinion, the Enduro 24 crawls great out of the box. Just needs more power. I'm ordering one of these. Seems worth it. I've had every scx 24 so far so I'm excited to see the gladiator.
Yeah the enduro is actually pretty good out of the box but the Phillips screws,bushings and weak parts are just too much for me. Soon as I started running 2s & slightly larger tires on mine it started breaking parts right and left lol
@@2fmrc yes lol I noticed a few things I didn't like. Especially the steering linkage it's wonky. Lol but my daughter loves it so it works.

@@vbspeed7571 I honestly love the way the driveshafts and split gearboxes work. I've upgraded my scx24s to PowerHobby motors Wich are much better than stock. I think I'm going to see if they will fit in the Enduro as well.

I think I am going to run the stock motor until it wears out and then going to the torque beast from mofo or the ox motor. Tires will be immediately upgraded

That channel 3 switch is in a handy place for people looking to do 4ws! The kind of crawling I enjoy really favours the shorter wheelbase of the deadbolt and I'm not much of a trail enthusiast so not really my thing but it'll be cool to see what people make out of them ! Very interesting to see the Tx Rx and ESC updates!
I hated the scx24 because of the esc whine so this video had convinced me even more on getting one
The new esc/transmitter is a HUGE upgrade imo!

Just went and got a new jlu v2 to put my mofo portals onto. I can't believe how much more quiet and smooth the new esc is. Same light control
I was very surprised with the new esc! No need to even upgrade it imo! Other than maybe to shave a little weight with a lizard pro or something. Awesome upgrade for sure
Glad to see that they deleted the body post on this new release. I found the new ESC combo to be almost silent and much smoother, forsure animpovement but the removal of the channel two does suck. thanks for the review can't wait till they reach my hobby stores here in canada. I have the 1:1 Gladiator and the Axial 1/10 so i will for sure be getting one of these little guys to add to my collection.

I've been playing around with a JLU 2.0 (new electronics package) and after comparing it to my original unit that's got a Furitek Iguana on it, I can say I don't feel the need to upgrade to Furitek for brushed applications. Still need that big block motor, for sure though 😂

Yeah I’m thinking some wranglers would be perfect (cause I have an extra set) and I love those Treal wheels! I have a set mounted up waiting to go on the Panda but they may just end up on this one lol
Hey Matt. I’m pretty new at this, so I appreciate this video a lot. I have the Bronco and all I did was upgrade the shocks, wheels and tires and omg what a substantial difference that made! I think I’m gonna run a few beads of solder inside the front bumper for added weight. Tomorrow I’m gonna pick up a Gladiator for my girlfriend from my local shop. I’ll upgrade the shocks, wheels and tires at the same time. Having a great time with my Bronco. Question: No one seems to use the chargers that they come with…what do you use then. Love the channel and really liking the new esc slow crawl capability. Have a few other modified ones with the komoto and nano but I’m prob gonna keep this ones electronics stock for the time being and maybe throw in a barrage when the motor goes. Bummer on the panda, was gonna pick one up cause they do look cool but after your comparison vid, might hold off. Cheers, looking forward to future vids!

Awesome break down!! Just hate Jeeps! Every time axial comes with something new we all know it’s gonna be a dumb jeep. At least do a cool jeep Comanche,scrambler anything but a gladiator!! I’m gonna get one “throw that hideous body in the fire pit lol”. At least there keeping the 24’s going.

just ordered mine. got a 3d printer since i got my c10 and i im trying to think of some good bodies / scale accessories to print for it with the longer wheelbase.
I’m soooo close to buying a 3D printer myself. I just wish they would get a little bit better. I can’t handle all the lines in printed stuff lol
1 thing I'm thinking of doing is removing the bumper completely an stick the leds in the light sockets
Would look much better! I’d like to have some sort of bumper on this one just cause I never run bumpers on my others. I usually prefer performance over the looks of a bumper so if I’m gonna kinda keep this one a bit more stock looking I may as well have a bumper lol

So i noticed between my c10 and my deadbolt, that the deadbolt has a smidge more torque. Can you tell if there is a difference in this one at all?

I haven’t noticed any more or less in any of them really. Is one of them newer than the other? Sometimes the life on them can make a huge difference. The amount that they are broken in etc can play a part. People used to do all sorts of stuff to break in brushed motors a certain way in racing just because they can get so much more out of one if broke in correctly. Kinda crazy

I haven't had the new version 2 electronics last more than a week with two different esc units.. And horizon won't warranty because they want to sell the rtr trucks to people.. All my 4 scx24s are running the version one esc. Yeah it's not as smooth but I can't buy a v2 anywhere and I'd take reliability over a bit of smoothness I guess 🤷
That’s crazy! I have 3 V2s running smooth! 2 broncos and a gladiator. The smoothness is nice but yeah if they aren’t reliable then that’s an issue. I’ve seen a few people have issues with them. Luckily mine have been good so far!
I know this is an old thread. I’ve decided to put a set of gladiator links on the rear of my c-10 and put the rear links up front. 😳
My stock deadbolt trail grappler tires had those notches. Bought mine last year. Maybe was a new batch?
Gonna pick up a used Gladiator today. Not sure what I’m gonna do with it yet.
Nice! They are probably one of the most capable out of the box just because of their length. Let me know how you like it.

It is weird that youtubes have gladiators with the V2 electronics, where all the listings I can find online seem to show V1 electronics. Only the wrangler is shown to come with the V2 electronics and has V2 in the product code.
I purchased mine from horizonhobby so I would just assume they all come with the V2

Thanks for another nice micro video! Before changing the servo. Have you already tried taking out the servosaver spring and superglue the servohorn? Stock servo doesn't seem to perform bad this way
I did it with a couple of mine way back but the servo would just eventually die. I don’t even bother with them anymore. I have several Emax and a mofo black label sitting around though. If I didn’t I would definitely glue it up and run till it died on me lol

It is much better! 4 channels alone makes it better. Channel 3 is in a natural spot vs on top of the remote where you can’t reach it while driving etc. I personally like the look and feel better than the old one also. Maybe just because I have like 14 of the old ones piled in a cabinet here in the garage but I’ll actually probably leave this one as is.

I think it kills break over angle. I’m not much on the stretched rigs myself. I prefer mine not be crazy long. It definitely needs some high clearance links lol. Overall crawling is rough out of the box imo but they all kinda are. It just seems super narrow now with it being so long. You know normally if you stretch one you run some wideners etc to balance it out. This thing is super long and stock width. Not a great combo imo

If I'm running a barrage motor, would it be worth it to get the new esc/rx to replace the old ones? Or would it be better to just get a furtitek esc to run with the barrage motor?
Heard there's no esc input on the reciever for the Bushless mod ..is this true?
Yeah I mentioned that. No ch2 port anymore. Kinda stinks for anyone wanting to upgrade but keep the stock transmitter.

it’s a monopoly this receiver is under the horizon hobby brand so no wonder they don’t have aftermarket motor support

How do you get the engine brake to work with the furytech lizard?? I did the surpass brushless and lizard setup but can't figure out how to get the motor brake function to work.....does it have one ???
Yeah you can adjust the drag brake in the app. Also make sure the throttle is calibrated well and possibly adjust your throttle trim a bit to the rear if needed. That sometimes helps if you can’t get enough brake from the motor. Shouldn’t have any issue getting plenty from that setup though.

Those are the rc4wd rock creepers. Great tires. Just a little small for a lot of builds. Work pretty well on a stock c10.
