Is this a pick any car you want airport because if I ever travel to Phoenix, I know what I’m getting ;)
Yep at PHX with Hertz and National you can pick from the aisle according to your status. Keep in mind some of my videos have the reserve section which is held for reservations and you can't necessarily pick from there unless you have that class reserved. What vehicle would you take? There was a Wagoneer I wouldn't mind trying over at National. That Grand Cherokee with no keys was in the Executive isle and you could choose that on a midsize reservation if you have Executive status with National (requires 10 rentals a year to earn).
@Adventures on the Road You can use status matches as well. Let’s say your a United Airlines Gold Member. You can send proof of that to national and they will make you executive.

Hi, thanks for the video! I'm getting a Hertz rental soon and I'm intending to pick a car from Ultimate Choice. In your experience, is it cheaper to book a midsize car and pay for an upgrade, or just book the class I want directly (like a fullsize SUV Yukon, etc)?
It's strange times with the car shortages right now. Hertz charges whatever they want for upgrades to Ultimate Choice and last time I asked about something it was in the range of $100/day upgrade fee or more on top of the midsize rate. I think your best bet is to book the class you want directly. The other issue with trying to upgrade and the car shortages is there might not be anything to upgrade to when you arrive if they are all out and rented.
I asked about upgrades to a Hendricks Camaro and they walked $180 a day extra. Then they said they could do it for $100/day extra when they realized I was presidents circle. As I declined and started walking away the guy offered $50/day. Lol! Prices are all over the place. Asked about a model 3 Tesla and a few others for upgrade and they were all booked and not available.
@@CarRentalGuy Hi again! Thank you so much for your insightful response and even going out of your way to inquire about the upgrade fees. I took your advice and ended up just booking the class I wanted directly instead of playing the UC/Upgrade gamble.
Hopefully rental prices will settle down again in a few years as the auto industry recovers from supply chain issues, etc.

@@CarRentalGuy I just looked it up. Apparently you have to be close friends or associates with the founder. Supposedly only 0.1% of emerald club users have access.

Yes they were on the Alamo side although if you showed up with a convertible reservation over at National I'm sure they would pull one out for you.
How did you get into the lot
Would you buy any chance know which category the Grand Cherokee L would fall under for rental cars? I wanna try and rent one sometime

A friend of mine is driving one right now from National and the class reported in the app is Premium Crossover. It is a bookable class with national and in between Standard SUV and Full size SUV. Having said that if you show up with a Standard SUV you might still be able to get one. Lol
