  • Johnny Tapia: the boxing genius who was hunted by death all his life
    Introduction
A rapid rise, desperate attempts to stay on top, and a rapid fall into the abyss. It sounds like a plot for a book or a dramatic movie. However, this is not fiction, but the real life story of one of the most famous boxers of the 20th century, Johnny Tapia.
The five-time world champion, whom no one could defeat for 10 years, became a bright flash and stole the hearts of millions of boxing fans. However, fate constantly tested Johnny's strength and eventually broke him, forcing him to pass away prematurely.
Johnny Tapia combined the incompatible - a love of boxing and cocaine, a thirst for victory and self-destruction. But perhaps it was Johnny's constant struggle with himself that helped him achieve greatness.
Today, we are pleased to bring to your attention the incredible and tragic life story of a brilliant boxer nicknamed "Mi Vida Loca"!

I remember the respect Marco Antonio Barrera had for him, who was almost his opposite but looked at Tapia and respected the attitude and balls of the man. But I always knew he would die young, he was very open about his drug problems and dealt with real tragedy but we can only endure so much. Plus he didn’t use cocaine in boxing, he said his heart would probably explode and it’s true that cocaine can make physical labour tougher with the temperature rise and increased heart rate. He may have been a little crazy but he had principles that won the respect of people around him, I cannot remember anything about his relationships so don’t know what he was like there, but as a boxer he was one tough, skilled and relentless bastard. R.I.P Johnny, I hope you have found peace 🙏💯👆🏻
