I still have the amp - but I just bought a used JVM 410C and got it to sound exactly the same by matching the speakers and pre amp tubes - so I've been gigging that amp since there are more options. Just did some videos for it. But this amp is still rocking and has been great since I got it.
Very cool. JCM 800 combos are best amps ever at what they do, but a one-trick pony. To make one more versatile for channel switching and effects loop is a worthwhile mod if you're into that. A mod for more gain is silly, as you can boost on the front and/or attenuate for that effect without touching the amp. What you did makes sense. Thumbs up!
spakuloid From the GC in Covina. It sounds incredible. It came with Groove Tubes 6550s but I don't know what the other tubes are. The channel switching mod was removed. I haven't tested the FX loop yet, so while the inputs are there along with that same sticker, I don't know if it works. I'll probably swap out the G12-70s at some point. I'd love to know more about the amp. I can send you a pic of the back if that will confirm that it was yours.
ya I had the 410H and it was great! I only got rid of mine cuz I got tired of lugging around a half stack. Great vid btw, it's been very helpful in navigating around my 800 (83' 4104). what kind of speakers are you running? I don't think you mentioned..
Wished it came with the built in noise gate. This would be a future add on mod for you, man. Noise gate, Im talking about is the one from the JVM series or the Kerry marshall noise gate. It kills the unwanted-annoying amp hiss.
Ed Berger both are great - both do different things. TS is for midrange boost with a low end roll off - great for hum buckers. BB is great for a full range distortion. BB is probably my favorite.
You have the holy grail of amps, the Marshall JCM 800, and putting crap pedals in front of it for crunch/distortion...See anything wrong with that picture?..why not trade it in for a SS amp, if you arent into pure raw guitar to amp roar from this classic? IMO
Man brother, you did exactly what I was thinking. Your info is spot on and super useful. Thank you sooo much!
Why was this downvoted? Its an excellent vid on great setup.
One of the best JCM 800 mods that I have seen. Great tone too. Excellent!
Nothing sounds sweeter than an overdriven Marshall JCM800 !!!!!!!!!!!
I have the same amp with effect loop and clean chanel added but with kt66 tubes and g12-65 speakers and it sounds exaclty like yours!

V1 is the first 12ax7a pre amp tube on most amps. It is your main gain stage and has the most effect on tone as far as tubes go.
Great sounds !
How is this one of the more downvoted videos? It is one heck of a great mod selection!
Oh, by the way,go get a 1936 cab and get a half stack. I did
I agree delays compressors and reverbs sound better in the ex loop but odd and crunch pedals in front

This is one sick amp! As to why you are being downvoted for this I have no idea
Hey, I bought one new in 83. Just so you know with the 6550 valves, which I got new gives you 90 rms
I think it's more like 100 watts. Also I got Celestion G-65 speakers in it. I've had the master at 10, preamp 10. 5 miles is nothing.
because no pedal out there quite sounds or feels like a cranked Marshall. Side by side there is a pretty big difference.
I’ve played guitar now almost 20 years and still never played through a jcm 800. Sucks being poor.
Still have this amp? Picked one up over the weekend in SoCal and it had the same fx loop sticker and a hole right where your footswitch input goes.
No sold this amp on CL several months ago. Sounds like you bought it! Where'd you pick it up?

Shazbot302 yeah email me a pic - I can't believe that guy I sold it to removed the mod. Waste.
My favorites the much hated Celestion G12M-70's. I love em.

***** agreed
are you still using this amp with these mods? wondering if it's still working out for you?
Super nice!
Hey Spakuloid, I notice you have both the tube screamer & BB on board...Witch one sounds better for overdrive & why???
Ed Berger both are great - both do different things. TS is for midrange boost with a low end roll off - great for hum buckers. BB is great for a full range distortion. BB is probably my favorite.
Awesome!!
Thanks man!

Isn't it crazy? I've read over and over how bad the 70's are and it turns out they're no worse than the 75's.
If you wanted to switch between clean and dirty channels can't you just play the amp clean and when you want dirty use a pedal ?
喋ってばっかじゃなくて弾けや!
