The difference between a woman not leaving her own abuse because she’s terrified for her own safety and a woman allowing her own children to be abused is very different. The children absolutely cannot defend themselves and in that case, the mother’s protective instincts should override her own fear for the sake of the defenseless children. In the first scenario, the woman is responsible for only herself. In the second scenario, the children are dependent on the mother for their safety and it’s her responsibility as their mother to protect them. If she allows them to be abused, she’s just as guilty as the abuser and doesn’t deserve the children she has. The differences shouldn’t be hard to understand. Ish was comparing apples to oranges when confronting Mel on that topic.
