- Brahms' Lullaby has always been a favorite of mine. So when last night baby Sam was having a difficult time sleeping due to an ear ache, I thought I'd take an impromptu attempt at playing Brahms' Lullaby to see if he would fall asleep. This was the result...

I played this bearded guy's version right here for my mother as she was dying. And now I've it on continuous loop on my headphones 24/7. She passed yesterday November 4th at 11:27 am. I text my brother the link & told him that Everytime the Bearded Guy kisses his son & says "It's time to go to bed now, ok? " I cry again. Bcus mom went to bed too... far too young 😪 but finally, no more pain. No more life being only about Doctors and Dr. appointments. She didn't have cancer, she didn't have anything wrong with her except a broken back, but she caught pnemonia then MRSA and went from happy in good spirits to on life support & dead in 7 days. In her last days she did respond slightly to the music, this version right here & so thank you so much. So incredibly beautiful.

I teared up after reading that this is the song you had on repeat as you were grieving your your mother's passing. I'm so sorry about the loss of your mother and I hope you are doing ok.
It takes a while but the sadness slowly goes away and happy memories replace the sadness. Sadness does visit though. But not as much. I have just said a prayer for your family.

Brahms composed this piece in secret for his friend, Bertha, with the occasion of the birth of her second son. It is originaly named "Wiegenlied" which means Lullaby

Not secret. He wrote a letter to her husband explaining it, that it was inspired by a song she used to sing to him. Brams stayed friends with Bertha and her husband Artur. Brahms' very last words were said to Artur, when he brought Brahms a glass of wine. Brahms said, "Oh that tasted very fine. You are a kind man."
He, the baby, will remember that feeling of love and peace by sleeping at your chest while you play the piano. My father used to do the same to me and when he was in his last days, I took care of him at the hospital, one of those days, when he got worse, I had to sleep with him to make him feel safe, man, that feeling of love, peace and protection I felt that moment was simply magical. Great video.

I am 57 years old now. When I was a child my father bought an old piano. He himself was no pianist but had a good ear. So I sat on his knees with my small fingers in dem middle of the keyboard an he had his hands right and left. And he tried to play some melodies by ear, I can remember Debussy "Clair de lune", Tschaikowsky "Capriccio italien" and Gounod "Waltz from Faust". It is one of my most loved childhood memories and until now I play piano every day. Maybe this little boy will have also these beautiful memories later! Best wishes from Munich.

My dad was good at singing the grandbabies to sleep. He would sing "Sweet Betsy from Pike", but when the babies would get old enough they would say "no grandpa not the Betsy song". Pretty soon eyes closed and snoring started. Great daddy there playing the lullibye.
My father left me at 2 months old. I hate him eternally. He is so lucky to have a father as good as he is.

I cried. Remember 19 yrs ago sweet memory while calming my baby son, John Kenwin Kho, everytime he cried.
Turn on classical music,( the one and only CD he always heard everyday since he was in my worm)
Put him on my chest, lying on sofa, he would instantly stop from crying and we slept together.
My son become a very smart child & talented in classical music.
He is now on his journey to be a pianist. Can see him play on my youtube channel or John Kenwin Kho (his channel)

It's not like I cry everytime something goes wrong, but when something major happens, you bet I'll be sad. 6 years ago, I had to move to where I am now (chile) and I cried, but I have accepted it.
