The third single of Circus of Fools’ third album „A Broadcast from GEN .0“ is devoted to the softer side of this versatile alternative metal outfit. Acoustic guitar, mellow viola leads, a James Bond-title song vibe and almost whispered vocals from singer Tammy Keinath create an haunted and solemn atmosphere depicting the icy cold society we are born into. As the song progresses, it builds up to an epic climax and one of the most brutal breakdowns Circus of Fools has done so far. This power ballad shows the band from their darkest side, a stark contrast to the fun upbeat atmosphere of the first single "Our Digital Drug", and toned down, in contrast to the grandiloquence of the second single „In the Name of Science“.
So put on your best earphones, lean back and savor those four minutes of beauty and despair.

Tolles Video. Das war echt lustig. Wir fanden euch in Rotenburg so toll, dass ich noch zu meiner Tochter meinte: „die sind echt stark. Die sollten mal bei uns im Hellraiser spielen“, Kind zieht das Handy raus, um euch zu stalken und meinte „die spielen nächste Woche im Hellraiser“ … nur schade, dass die euch so einen schwachen Sound verpasst haben. Meine 12-jährige Tochter war echt neidisch, als sie die Bandfotos von Leni mit euch und dieses coole Video gesehen hat. Macht so weiter, ihr habe echt ein größeres Publikum verdient

Top Qualität! Mir gefällt vor allem, wie die Passagen mit dem dickeren und dem dünneren Sound ineinandergreifen. Und auch ansonsten ein sehr geschmeidiger Song!

I don't comment often, even when i mean to but just... don't, for some reason. But i want to go for it here.
I had hoped to be able to visit you all this year on a concert as one of the funders of the Kickstarter project, but physical location and personal life made that not possible-- or at least not viable. So i hope that the possibility of visiting this group as the kickstarter reward has no time limit on it.
Whenever that may be possible, i wish you all strength where needed and fun where possible on whatever might require your attention, be it for matters of music or more personal matters.
And aside from that, i want to share my thoughts on the tracks of Broadcast from Gen. 0 thus far.
The new March of the Puppets i enjoy on a similar level to the original, but in a different way. It's the song that got me acquainted with this band and for that i am really, really happy. The new end bit is my favourite part of it-- the way Tammy sings gives me a feeling of things becoming twisted, topsy-turvy, like it's become some sort of whirlpool that goes all directions-- and then becomes a tornado.
Our Digital Drug has parts i find interesting and enjoy, but i don't listen to it often. It just doesn't hit for me and i don't know how to put into words why that is.
In the Name of Science...
That one grabbed me from the word "go". I kept listening to it again and again for a few days straight, and then often after that. I am not always in the mood for it or need to take breaks from listening to it for so often after itself, but when i come back it still hits hard again.
It's safe to say that it's one of my most listened to songs of CoF, period-- probably alongside Eris, Sisyphos was Wrong and Testimony of an Ignorant Pr*bleep*.
And will most likely listen to it again very often. And as I do so, I will always be thinking of a character of mine that I use for stories, a jester clad in green and black, who is a character i hold very dear and hope to share her and others' stories in the future.
Finally, for Distanced here, i think i'm going to have to re-listen to it a few times for it to grow on me more like songs such as La Voisin and Iron Mask did. Or the band in general for me, for that matter. But as adviced in the description, i used my lunch break to look up a more quiet spot to listen to it.
As i'm writing this paragraph, i'm listening to it for the third time and as I do so, images of both a half-rocky beach jutting out from grasslands, assaulted by waves spurred on by hard winds that are not yet a storm, blanketed dark grey clouds appear in my mind. And alongside this mental image come some memories of what my childhood home looked like-- a house in an old farmstead with thatch roof, very close to a forest but not close to the sea at all.
I suppose this means this song, to me gives both a feeling of nostalgia and fond memories, as well as a feeling of being in both a harsh yet comforting, wild yet solid point within mother nature where both an anger and a support come together, that scares and humbles all at the same time.
This description could be just a spur of the moment thing that will not happen again. It could mayhaps be pretentious on my end. But i hope that it is testament and encouragement to you and any other musician on what this craft can do.
