I've been watching your nature journal vids from last year, so glad you're starting a new one for 2024. Can you please show us how you applique your little embroideries down on your backing please. They look like they're part of the cloth. Mine are just raw edged and I sew them on. Your nature journals are beautiful using a vintage white tablecloth. I'd love to see the blackbird embroidery too.

For what its worth...my taste would be to keep the wonky log cabins separate...applique them distanced apart..because I think they are beautiful individually, yet start to detract from each other if sewn together. You then have to stare hard at the piece of work to enjoy the colourway of each cabin. Mount them separated with something planer, and the eye gets relief and the beauty of each cabin is gloriously obvious.

That's a lovely idea - I can see what you're saying. They might be a nice border interspersed on my stitched nature journal even x

I’ve just started reading Wild Hares and Hummingbirds, The Natural History of an English Village by Stephen Moss. It has a chapter for every month of the year and is about the village of Mark on the Somerset Levels close to where I grew up.

I’m just starting my slow stitch journey & subscribed to your channel for inspiration of what’s possible. I bought my first hoop and making flowers & bees. I love my gardens, and since it’s still winter in Canada, it gives me a chance to play inside. If I’m honest, my only problem currently is having the right needles. I’m having trouble getting two or three strands of thread through the eye. Any recommendation would be appreciated.

Oh how exciting to be starting your slow stitch journey - so many possibilities!
Try an embroidery needle no.7 and see how you get on with that. It's not just the thread thickness, the type of fabric you're stitching into will affect your needle choice too. If you have a pack of varied size embroidery needles - perhaps size 3- 9, will give you options. Hope that helps. Let me know how you get on. Thank you for watching xx
