    I really appreciate your candid and no frills approach to this video. The fact that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get the job done and still have a thorough and respectable set of tools with a mix of high end , mid quality and bargain tools is the way to go. Cheers!

    A 'real world' cart!
    Not all tool truck stuff, and it looks like you purchased as you needed to, and not all at once.
    Sensible.

    Great setup! I will say I could never deal with mismatched socket sets. I have severe OCD with my sockets. LOL. Chrome is 100% Koken. Impact is 100% Capri. If I lose a socket it needs to be replaced with an identical replacement. Won't have it any other way. 😂😂

    • @kdtxtooldad
      @kdtxtooldad  2 місяці тому +1

      Yea I hear ya, just wish they had complete full sets like from stubby all the way to deep with extra sizes, wobbles, etc. But also hard when you’re in a pinch and just need a socket and I just go and buy whatever Im needing at the moment.

    • @reconbbs360
      @reconbbs360 2 місяці тому +1

      @@kdtxtooldad Fair enough. Quick question. What the hell do you need 3/4 drive for? Lol. I don't even use 1/2 drive on my machinery. I have exactly one 1/2 drive socket in my toolbox. 1 1/8 which has a 1/2 to 3/8 reducer accompanying it. 😂

    • @kdtxtooldad
      @kdtxtooldad  2 місяці тому +1

      Lol insurance purposes mainly, mainly for Honda crank bolts, I’ve had a few where even the weighted crank bolt sockets weren’t enough, and the 3/4 zips them out. Overkill yea but the time and energy saved was worth it. And I dont have a hydraulic press so this thing presses out bushings and joints fairly easily

    Good setup man
    I had thousands invested in the tool trucks over the years but I've slowly evolved out of the shop in the last few years and found myself Wrenching on industrial machines & equipment, now I'm jumping into other trades. Pulling 30 hours in the auto world, about 30 in the remodeling world and 30 in the industrial world and in some cases I earn more elsewhere than I did in the shop
    People hate it, but tool trucks are setting you treat yourself to, not something that you need these days
    You want some good USA for a fair price, Wright & Proto are solid options with Klein /Channellock for hand tools

    • @kdtxtooldad
      @kdtxtooldad  Рік тому

      All good recommendations thanks. I loved using Klein when I was briefly in the electrical and hvac field. Other than that since all of my work I do is on my own at my own time I’ve just purchased what I’ve either needed at the moment or what I’ve really wanted but yea I won’t buy directly from a truck plus I don’t have that option, so I just find deals that are much better than retail and go from there

    • @ihavethedocuments2580
      @ihavethedocuments2580 Рік тому +1

      Proto are unquestionably the most durable and well made American mechanics tools.
      You want to work on a Honda? Buy Snap on. You want turn a wrench on industrial and commercial equipment? Buy Proto.
      I'd like to see one of these stress tests on a Proto ratchet, someone is liable to get butt hurt.

    You've got a excellent set up young man. I've owned so many brands in my day, including snap on and Mac and I can tell you, the quality the Orient is pumping out is just as good as American made now.
    I started to notice this about 15 years ago. I would take Icon and gear wrench and compare them to anyone now. This was not so in the 80's and 90's.

    • @kdtxtooldad
      @kdtxtooldad  Рік тому

      The parrot pliers haven’t used to much, so can’t feedback yet, I got them with my rewards so more of an impulse buy. The gear wrench snap rings I would honestly get something with more finer prongs as they don’t fit all snap rings I’ve found only bigger ones. I used them on some hub snap rings and they did fine, but I ended up getting some snap on ones for a deal just for overall use as smaller snap rings as the gear wrenches one wouldn’t fit and two they’re all angled so once you get fully compressed in they can slip.

    • @kdtxtooldad
      @kdtxtooldad  Рік тому

      Honestly, once I started using cordless tools, I just mainly use impact sockets now, the only time I use the chromes are on the occasions where the bolt is recessed into a tight area where only a thinner wall chrome socket would fit as opposed to an impact socket, it’s pretty much the same with wrenches for me as well. Given that time is such a commodity, using power tools I just started acquiring more impact sockets to cut down time that I’m working on something.

    Your cart seems to be very well organized and made to work, not for posing.
    I don't know why it has become a contest for measuring dick size on how big and expensive someones toolbox is. Of course it's UA-cam so extreme stuff is on show more than in real world but come on...
    The other box that stood out was from a motorcycle guy who called himself rookie and had been working on his tools for only eight months. I really liked his setup because he had all the necessary ones, essentials, and not that much duplicates or extra stuff.

    • @kdtxtooldad
      @kdtxtooldad  Рік тому

      I greatly appreciate the comment. I've tried to build this service cart up just purely for work purposes and what I do out of it. There are some tools I indulge in as a way to stress relief, and I've identified that due to my passion for tools in general, and working on cars is sort of my sanctuary for my sanity. So with that yea, I've found that with tools and tool boxes, and the whole social media thing can be financially dangerous, so I try to separate the two, and make sure that function is priority when I make decisions.
