I was thinking about learning Melee, but my mechanic skill is much lower and my knowledge of the game. So I know what I need to do but can’t execute it lmao plus I can’t short hop to save my life so that already screws me up.

I’m new, but still having fun playing good players. The biggest win here is the chance to play any character again. On net play, people often didn’t want to waste time with me trying out low tiers
I feel that. Some people see that I play Mario and then leave after one match, likely thinking it's a waste of time. It's a really lame mentality tbh.
I'm sure in time it will change once we start seeing people going nuts with Bowser, DK, Ness, and other SICK low-mid tiers.

if you were already playing on 2 frame delay connections only, you won't notice the difference. for like 95% of people and matchups it makes a big difference tho

It's rollback netcode and matchmaking in Melee
Rollback is very close to playing in a CRT according to Leffen, and you can play people around the world with no major issues (Axe - AmSa played with 3f delay)
To put it into perspective, online Melee has less lag than offline Ultimate
