Wow, i grew up listening to Kristofferson. So many memories of cruising the roads with him on the 8 track with some long gone friends . Rest in peace old friend!
Kris has written more songs that many people have no idea he wrote. He’s a brilliant songwriter, singer, songwriter, actor and man. I’m so happy that he got sober and found God & he’s now happily married living his best life in Hawaii. Thank you Kris for many years of great music and movies. I’m 62 years old, I’ve been through it all with you. I’ve watched you stumble across a stage, slur your words but you kept going. You followed your heart. And your heart will never steer you wrong. God bless you man. Sending you hugs, love & prayers from your friends back in New Orleans, Louisiana! 🤗🤗❤️❤️🙏🙏
So sad to lose this beautiful man and the music that touches so deeply. I bought his very first album when i was 21 and fell in love .. been listening to his music ever since. No one writes love and life like Kris, and only his voice really tells the story. RIP Kris .. thank you for the music xxx
I wish I had seen this legend play live, I will have to just listen to his music and wonder how he found the words. Genius doesn't come close. Thank you Sir..
I saw him three times (2007-09, all solo acoustic). He didn't just play the same songs at every show. The set lists varied. But he played this one at all three shows.
my lifetime favorite song. must have played it hundred thousand times or more. thank you KK for the music. it will forever be my #1 song in my late 60's now and still listening to the song that I love since the 70's again. thank you very much.
My best friend and husband passed 6 months ago. We had such a great time together 5 months shy of 60 years married . We met in 1962, married in 1964. I miss him so 🩵💜
This is a very tender love song; probably one of the best ever written. It is so evocative and conjures up that sadness when something that was lovely has to end. I think Kris Kristofferson sings it wonderfully.
+Johnny Lonewolf I am going along with you both. He sings it like no-one else can and that includes his ex-wife. This version takes me right back to that post-grad, most lonely year in my universe. My college relationship had ended. How could I go on?
My God, 💗 I love this song. My heart is sad for Kris Kristofferson's family, but I also feel 88 years was amazing and I can only imagine their memories 💗💗💗
when people finally give up hating and fighting each other and find peace i hope they remember and find your music. you will be preserved forever in the minds of people who found your music when they really needed it. thanks Kris.
63 here and I've been known to sob at the sound of this song for too many years to count! That's the simple and devastating power of this song. It's really amazing. Cuts through the thick and goes straight to the heart.

My earliest memories were of laying beneath the piano as my father played. As I got older, I recognized he had bad habits in playing, and affectations that marred his music. He played with great panache, but seldom with great feeling. In his later years, he grew sicker and weaker in the mind and he began to not be able to play. He was giving up on life. He just wasn't meant to be an old man. He couldn't be weak or frail. It just wasn't him. Playing the piano now just made him frustrated because he couldn't execute anymore. One day he played a song I had never heard him play, - not in his repertoire which I knew backward and forwards - and all the affectations and bad habits were shed. It was just him playing not from his head but from his heart. It was the most beautiful I'd ever heard him play. Flawless and perfectly tempo'd., tender and warm and so real it sent shivers across my skin. He put whatever remaining life he possessed into that song. He finished and said quietly "For the Good Times." That was the last I ever heard him play. He died shortly after. My father was not an emotional man, nor was he nostalgic - but he played this song from memory, or ear, or from the ether, and played it perfectly, but more importantly it came straight from his soul in a way that I had never seen him allow - and it was power-ful. Somewhere along the line he heard this song, and it made a permanent impression upon him, long before I was born. This was what his version sounded like. I just wanted to share that story. Peace.
Thank you for sharing this. And yes, this original version by Kris is just the most emotional version of his song. Maybe the one on the Austin Sessions even topped it. Have you ever heard that one? ua-cam.com/video/oX094Nn4L_Y/v-deo.html

I can't deny what you are saying. This writer does that. We have all been there. Sometimes there is no alternative to moving on but this is done so gently. We will both live and love again but first: lets say goodbye for the last time and those good times.

There is a place in the mind somewhere between sadness and joy. Kris has the unique talent of expressing that place in his compositions, that is a exceptional gift for us all to experience.
Not even Kris?!? You're kidding... To me this song is magic with Kris only... He knew the meaning of every single word in it.... he wrote it... on a lonesome drive from Nashville to the Gulf where he 'd fly a helicopter to the oil rigs. But that's my opinion...I just love his voice that can express so many emotions and much prefer to hear him sing every single song of him himself.
Kristofferson was and is one of the all time great poet/songwriters. I don't think his voice ever came close to matching his writing, but so many recorded so much of his work that he's likely heard as much as anyone ever has been. Just words, but strung together in such a way as to capture feelings like few ever could.

Saw Kris two weeks ago in Annapolis in a venue of 150 seats. 81 years old and hasn't lost a step. Fantastic show. Did most of the songs from Silver Tongue Devil and I. He wrote every song that he sang. It was just him and his guitars(s) on stge. I cried through Jody and the Kid. He did this and I had never realized he had written it. The pedigree of this man is unbelievable.
Thanks for sharing this memory of you. 150 seats only, what a wonderfully intimate venue! Looking forward to seeing him in two concerts on July 1 and July 3.
Just saw him Thursday night in PA. He is absolutely AMAZING and so is his band including Meryl Haggard's sons. Loved the drummer and the smiley violinist too!!
I saw him a few years in a small venue with just his guitar. I love Jody and the Kid too. After the show, I wondered out to the back of the building where his buses were. There were others waiting to get his autograph. I was fortunate that I was able to get his autograph and a hug. I almost swooned!
Beautiful song. Lovely rendition. I have to say I first heard this song as a kid as the Ray Price version. I, of course, didn't fully appreciate it until later. All those years later, it's all the deeper in it's meaning. A real masterpiece.
The man has a BODY of wonderful , sad but beautiful tunes over a 50+ year career ! I never knew he wrote one of my favorite Sinatra tunes ..." Nobody Wins "..( from Ol' Blue Eyes is Back ")....*..+ this classic and so much more !! I am 55 today !! I remember Kris well and love his style as an Actor too ! GOD BLESS'

Brilliant. Kristofferson hits the soul perfectly. What a song.
One of the greatest songs of all times.
I think this is the best version from Kris krostofferson ! love this song so much
Ray Price
Ray price version seems forced, Kris Kristofferson lived this and the other songs he wrote.

Totally agree, best version in my opinion.
Just curious, is it really Kris responding with his email addresss?
Listening to this singing poem in 2019, still...
We saw him in Durant OK a few months ago. It was the best one man show I have ever seen.
Will be seeing him January 2019 in Spokane. What a poet he is...under-appreciated singer and under rated as a song writer
Kris touches my hear & soul in every song he sings!
One of those songs that resonate through the ages and which successive generations can easily identify with as its lyrics are truly timeless
❤️💔
ah but he forgot to mention the red roses on the moon in june
Beautiful song. Lovely rendition. I have to say I first heard this song as a kid as the Ray Price version. I, of course, didn't fully appreciate it until later. All those years later, it's all the deeper in it's meaning. A real masterpiece.
he wrote it composed it and sang it with heart
The man has a BODY of wonderful , sad but beautiful tunes over a 50+ year career ! I never knew he wrote one of my favorite Sinatra tunes ..." Nobody Wins "..( from Ol' Blue Eyes is Back ")....*..+ this classic and so much more !! I am 55 today !! I remember Kris well and love his style as an Actor too ! GOD BLESS'
Dankie Kris. Jou kuns-talent inspireer..!

Goodbye Kris🥹Thank you for your wonderful music & movies🫶
One of the best EVER period.. Topped the charts in almost every genre. Rock "me and Bobby Mgee" country "sunday morning coming down" "help me make it through the night" "for the good times" gospel "why Me Lord" and "one day at a time" even though he went into acting he was one of greatest songwriters ever
One of on my very short list of things I did not do that I regret not doing, see him in concert.
@@guillermovillarreal4079 I bet man, but at least you got to live the same time and walk on the same earth as a walking song book
You are quite right - those songs are my favorites too - can´t stop loving them I am 85 y
A most evocative song, the lyrics, the singer, a perfect blending of creative expression. Thank you Kris,
