he was a officer in our Air Force, served in Vietnam Nam, was a Rhode Scholar and one hell of a song writer, he said many times he isn't a good singer, hearing him sing 3 songs he wrote proves otherwise, this, Sunday morning, and why me lord.... I miss the Highway Men
My cousin worked with him on an oil rig off the coast of Louisiana. He left one day told my cousin he was going to Nashville to be a star. He definitely had the talent and other what nots to be a star. ⭐🌟🌠🌠🌟⭐
He was not AirForce. He was an Army Helicopter Pilot and served in Germany. His request to go to Vietnam was denied and was assigned to West Point as a literature professor. He turned down the assignment, left the service and the rest is history.
"Who's going to fill their shoes?" No dancing sharks, No strippers in the background, No flashing Lights, No computer enhancements. Just a natural voice, singing full of emotions. I did get to see him in person and met him after his show ended. A very down-to-earth type of person. Now singing with the Angles. R.I.P.
I not only love the songs that Kris wrote but I love to hear him sing them. He doesn't have a perfect or polished voice but that's part of the realism and the charm. I feel it when he sings it, knowing that he's been there and felt every word. One of the best songwriters of this or any time.
I would listen to a brilliant lyricist who can't hold a tune to save his life than any day before listening to someone with an incredible voice but generic lyrics.
Agree. It is the passion that a person performs a song. You don't need a so-called great voice if the passion is in it. There are many examples of performers with unique sounds from their different voices with the passion.
Dog gone I had forgotten about this song. I remember daddy playing it while we were working the farm in the trucks. Glad I found it because of the memories. And, mama and daddy were married in 1958 and still together. Blessed, thank you Jesus!
About three weeks ago I sent the link to this song to my wife, writing: "Beautiful song. It made me think of you." She wrote back: "Now you did it -- you made me cry. I love you Kev with all my heart." She passed away last week after a sudden heart attack. We played the song at her service yesterday. I gather Kris is going through some difficult health issues. I wish I could tell him how much this song means to me now and how much it will mean to me for the rest of my life..
Oh Kevin, brother, my heart aches. Please may I whisper 'Jesus' and introduce you to The Revelation of Jesus Christ chapter 21, verse 4? All in empathic love, all in love.
Kevin, I'm so sorry for your loss. I have a love in my life, that if she was taken away, I would pray that I be taken also, the void would be too great. I also gave a small gift to her that says it all, in the same way your song to your wife says the way you feel about her. I gave her a coffee cup with a painting of two cute dogs on it, with their noses touching each other, with love in their eyes and a shape of a love heart floating above them. The caption above reads " loving you is what I do best "
Kris is a very intelligent man, and a great songwriter, musician, and singer. He flew helicopters in the Army, tought literature at West point, and could have been a professor at Oxford where he studied literature, but thank God he chose to write and sing music. He wrote so many songs for so many artists in the music business. I'm so glad I enjoyed his music in my lifetime. Enjoy your retirement Kris.
Thanks, love his music got me relaxed as a country representative for a food company whilst driving the back roads in the semi desert areas of South Africa. Some towns were 100 miles apart. Thank you sir for your music.
Kris wanted so badly for Johnny Cash to sing "Sunday Morning Coming Down" and he flew a helicopter to Cash's house, personally I like Kris's version better than Cash's.

Farewell, Kris Kristofferson. He had it ALL: looks, brains, a genius songwriter, and a legit actor. His voice was rugged and untrained - yet it was right for HIM. And to say that he had a good time would be a TOTAL. UNDERSTATEMENT.
Kris really makes you miss the great singers and songwriters of the 60 and 70s. I don't think the world will ever be gifted with that kind of talent again.
I agree. This evening I am indulging myself to the music of the 60’s, 70’s and John Denver up through the 80’s. Definitely, sone of the best secular music written.
When you watch him sing, he’s not just singing a song, he’s reliving an episode of his life. I’m 70 years old, I’m losing all the musical influences that I grew up with. But the music will live on.
But somehow it didn’t destroy him! Too much formal education can destroy creative people. It can turn them into imitators. He wrote songs out of his own life experiences and that’s why he was so good. Dylan dropped out of college in his first year and went to NYC and became a genius songwriter. Johnny Cash didn’t go to college at all. Country music at its best is music about real life.
I saw him at at the stage coach festival, He filled in for Loretta Lynn. That couldn't make, He came out on stage all by yourself. A guitar and a hermonica. He was only supposed to be on stage for about forty five minutes, An hour and a 1/2 later. They started blinking the lights telling him he had to quit. He talked to the audience And most of the songs he sang were ones he wrote. He made you feel like it was a one on one experience,,,, It was awesome.
I saw him in Dallas many years ago in the 70's. I first heard him at a Navy exchange in Virginia and INSTANTLY WAS HOOKED. My dad used to say how he put POETRY TO MUSIC.
I was a roadie for the highwaymen truly you missed out on the best live shows ever him willie waylon johnny pulled me off the street gave me a job because they thought my hobo sign was funny i flew a sign off of fifth street austin texas said will work for weed was rolling a joint heard a voice said want a job son i looked up it was willie laughing at my sign and worked with them for about 18months best time of my life they treated me like a son such goid times 😢❤😢
I'm sitting here reminiscing of times long ago, crying for the ones I've loved and lost. Kris, you will always have a place in my heart, for your songs are part of those memories. RIP, beautiful man ❤
A genius in so many ways. Love his music and his spirit. Rest in peace. A privilege to be on this earth during your time here. Condolences to his dear family.
His music...an inspiration for me learn guitar...his voice telling a story, pure inspiration. I'M no good compared to him, but we all can make a joyful noise. Thank you Lord for this man.
At one of my old jobs I once hit it off with a co-worker talking Kris, The Highwaymen and old music. We didn’t even introduce ourselves to one another, I just heard him mention Kris and couldn’t shut up. May God rest your wonderful soul, Mr Kristofferson. Thank you for your wonderful music.
It just doesn't get any smoother than this. This version of him performing his most perfect song is a perfect tribute to a wonderful songwriter, singer & talented entertainer. Makes one want to cry bittersweet tears over such fantastic contributions to the music world he gave us, and the sad realism that all we have now from him, is all we will ever have. I could never get enough of Kris. Wish him much love and well earned relation and family enjoyment. He certainly gave us plenty! Love you Kris.
I'm a disabled Vietnam veteran who loves the magical way he puts words to a song. Charlie Pride stated the same about him. I can sit and listen to his songs all day long. He was a Rhodes scholar, an army helicopter pilot, and great songwriter, and singer of songs. His songs will touch your heart in a way you never thought possible. He was truly a poetic writer of words in a way that that few others could even compare, other than his idol, Hank Williams. Enough said, I salute you Kris !!

I've been listening to this song since it was released in 72. I was 12. Its been making me cry for 50 years. Not all songs I thought were my favorite ever lasted 50 years even though I still love them. I havent had a wife that long either. Thats a long time fellas!
Lost my fiancee to a massive heart attack in 1992 and we never had a chance to settle a spat or say goodbye. He has visited me in my dreams many times including last night, said he wanted to talk. Loving him was so much easier than anything I ever have experienced. Perhaps in Heaven we will talk again.
Wow that's sad Sorry to hear that Yeah I agree, have always loved his songs Been a fan all my life He has a magical voice so beautiful What's your favorite song by kris?

Thanks so much for the love ❤️ I really appreciate, I hope you will never stop listen to my music 🎶.. If you don’t mind kindly drop me your google chat just to get in touch with you❤️❤️❤️❤️
The love of my life for the past 20 years, passed away suddenly 2 weeks ago. Early in our relationship, before we were married, he called me on the phone and had this beautiful song playing for me. I'll never forget the passionate love I felt then for him and the deep love that I have inside me for all the joyful years I got to spend with this precious man. I will miss him forever.😢
My husband died in March of this year, and he recorded this song for me, and I listen to it everyday, it reminds me of how much he loved me. We were married 57 years. We were very much in love. I was 16 and he was 19. Sometimes it's unbearable, but I put his cd on, and it gives me comfort. I love this song, the words speak for all lovers. My name is Catherine.
I remember watching this in 1972... I was hooked... Just brilliant lyrics... I'm an old lady now we're has that time gone rip Kris our loss is heavens gain ❤️🙏❤️
As a 23 year dry alcoholic my favorite is Sunday morning coming down.
Good for you! It mustn't have been easy but you've come a long way!
That's a really admirable achievement - all the best to you.
Mine too
My father ,played it every Sunday morning , he loved every word of it ,as do i !!! And now my kids listen to him aswel .
that song speaks to us doesn't it?
Another artist said "we are writing nursery rhymes compared to what Kris is writing", paraphrasing of course.
Amen
Kris was the poet of our times. RIP Sir

I was 13 when he sang this.
My God, the 70's had such great music.
One of a kind !!!

Love’s Fuck Yous, One Twos, and Black & Blues - Lyrics by Jimmy Elliott
No matter how hard I fight it… or how much that I think.
I can’t ever find me a good reason… not to take another drink.
My mama don’t understand it, and people can’t see how I feel.
That drinkin’ is the truth ‘n forces everyone who’s lyin’ to become real.
We are who we are… even if we don’t know or understand it.
But if you want to get to know me… crack a can and let’s shoot the shit.
I’ve never been a good marksman, I’ve always lost my aim.
And I feel like the only one who knows… that love and life is a game!
I don’t know when I lost it, and “it” being my shame.
But Jimmy is my name, we’re the same, ‘n all I need is another beer, and a dame.
They say that “life is long, and love sure is fleeting.”
But if we can somehow, let’s forget that for now, and all take another beating!
You can say I’m a punk, or a fool who’s just love drunnnnk.
But love and beer have always lifted me up, no matter what, or how low that I’ve sunk…
So go on, hit me… c’mon baby, throw another punch!
No hard feelings and tomorrow… let’s have mimosas with our black eyes over brunch!
Then we can do it again, and then remember when,
You were mine and I was yours, before you loved and left me for the other men.
Your love sure is chaos; it’s hysterical, and baby you are a riot.
But there’s nothing better than being hurt, but don’t take my word, go on honey and try it!
It’s only a matter of time, before you lose and are left with a bruise
But like all things fade, ours will too, we all know that’s old news!
But I don’t carrrreee, I will still be herrreee
Laughing; drinkin’;
Listenin’ to your “fuck yous!”
duckin’ your ones twos
and singin’ bout our love’s blacks N’ blues!

Same age and same feelings ❤
Totally agree my friend
I'm 82, and I feel the same way. His music is so deep and heartfelt.
Am 66.
Feel the same.
Am blessed I can listen to their music whenever I want.
💫🥰
RIP to one of the greatest song writers and musicians the world has ever seen. Thanks for all the inspiration.
I remember it well, my girl friend at this time, Sue, whom I married in 1973 and it is my most treasured memory for ever, thank you Kris.
Yes it was
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Thanks Kris✌️
Kris is a Rhode Scholar, the most educated writer in country music.
One of my biggest regrets in life is not getting to see him perform live. His songs speak to me on a level I can’t explain. 💕💕
Sew him at small college in NYC in early 70's. Had a great time back stage...he was remarkable, intelligent, warm and I could tell he had the gift.
He's still alive. He was on Outlaw country cruise 2 or 3 years ago. Would love to see him.
This ranks as one my most beautiful songs from the great song writer and singer Kris Kristofferson. Rest in peace Kris Kristofferson.
A true renaissance person. We are worse off without him, bet better for having had him.
RIP, Kris Kristofferson ( 1936-2024 ). America is all the more poorer for it.
I'm sitting here reminiscing of times long ago, crying for the ones I've loved and lost. Kris, you will always have a place in my heart, for your songs are part of those memories. RIP, beautiful man ❤
What a song. Just found out we lost Kris today. Rest in power my good man.
A genius in so many ways. Love his music and his spirit. Rest in peace. A privilege to be on this earth during your time here. Condolences to his dear family.
Many years ago, Chris sang in Donegal. I had planned to see him and told everyone, but never did. Boy, have I regretted that since.
To the family of Kris..i am sorry for your loss..i loved his music, great actor, and great father.. i will miss him. He is with the almighty now..❤❤❤
RIP to the Legend. By far my favorite Singer, Songwriter, and Actor.
This is the America the world needs.
What are you talking about???
It just doesn't get any smoother than this. This version of him performing his most perfect song is a perfect tribute to a wonderful songwriter, singer & talented entertainer. Makes one want to cry bittersweet tears over such fantastic contributions to the music world he gave us, and the sad realism that all we have now from him, is all we will ever have. I could never get enough of Kris. Wish him much love and well earned relation and family enjoyment. He certainly gave us plenty! Love you Kris.
Hi Cindy
I think this is my favourite version, too. And I think this is also my favourite of his compositions. Just about perfect, as you say
so true, so smooth
We have "This Old Road" that he did in 2006,and there is his latest album,The Cedar Creek Sessions.
Q
Great song and singer.
Hi Sharon 💐💐
His voice is as gentle as a slight summer breeze
I'm a disabled Vietnam veteran who loves the magical way he puts words to a song. Charlie Pride stated the same about him. I can sit and listen to his songs all day long. He was a Rhodes scholar, an army helicopter pilot, and great songwriter, and singer of songs. His songs will touch your heart in a way you never thought possible. He was truly a poetic writer of words in a way that that few others could even compare, other than his idol, Hank Williams. Enough said, I salute you Kris !!
Thank you for your service 🙏🏻
Kris Kristofferson has a vibe..for those that don't get it, you'll probably never get it

I will miss him, what an incredible life, and life story. ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you Kris for all the years, for everything.
I've been listening to this song since it was released in 72. I was 12. Its been making me cry
for 50 years. Not all songs I thought were my favorite ever lasted 50 years even though I still
love them. I havent had a wife that long either. Thats a long time fellas!
My gram was 13 in 72 when she fell in love with KK, and we spent today listening to this and his other songs - every one appreciated!
Think this is the best recorded version of this song , low-key but crisp , honest and smooth as silk - RIP maestro.
Thanks Kris, you were one of the best, have a good trip.
Wow that's sad
Sorry to hear that
Yeah I agree, have always loved his songs
Been a fan all my life
He has a magical voice so beautiful

So hard to say goodbye to this beautiful legend! RIP KK!
Thanks for everything, Kris.
Absolutely the most beautiful song intro ever. Kris's lyrics are simply amazing.
as an ordinary person it mystifies me how someone can come up with lyrics that are so touching and genuine, and they will live on as a masterpiece. Kris
He writes from the heart, what a heart he must have.
Thanks so much for the love ❤️ I really appreciate, I hope you will never stop listen to my music 🎶.. If you don’t mind kindly drop me your google chat just to get in touch with you❤️❤️❤️❤️

Just heard that Kris Kristofferson has passed away! This is my favorite song of his!
Rest in Peace, And Thanks for the music!
Rest in Peace. What a loss.
Kris was the poet laureate of my generation. He has no equal. "Why Me Lord?" will be played at my memorial service.
What a awesome singer and song writer , there will never be another like him 🙏❤️🇨🇦
It’s how he put the English language together is what was amazing.
Thank you for good music Kris Kristofferson, USA
The love of my life for the past 20 years, passed away suddenly 2 weeks ago. Early in our relationship, before we were married, he called me on the phone and had this beautiful song playing for me. I'll never forget the passionate love I felt then for him and the deep love that I have inside me for all the joyful years I got to spend with this precious man. I will miss him forever.😢
Up there with some of the greats I’ve wanted to meet
I am so sorry. The love of my life died 8 years ago. Life can never be the same again. I wish you peace and comfort.
Rest in Peace Brother, You brought us Plenty
One of the greatest love songs ever written and performed with perfection.
I want it played at my funeral.
I will always love Kris Kristofferson. Rest in peace and rise in glory.
I lost my wife to cancer five years ago. To this day I can't listen to this song without tearing up.
+bill lee I am very sorry for your loss.
So sorry for your loss.
So sorry - hugs to you.
I’m very similar to your story, as I lost my Wife to cancer nearly six years ago. This song is so true to what she meant in my life.
8 years for me. I am so sorry. The pain is so real.

May she RIP and the love you shared be vivid in your heart and mind always ❤
❤️❤️😥
So many songs, so little time. I'll miss you, Kris.
Nothing like a songwriting poet. Whole nother level.
Rod McKuen being another, and both having that gravelly voice, though I have to say, Kris's is better.
I always loved his voice.
There are songwriters who write songs and then there are poets who write poetry and put music to it
Now this is music
Hello Martha 1👋
