The quill travel brushes from Ali Express are amazing! They are now my go to brushes for both travel and in studio.

I know right! I was so excited to come across them, I keep thinking I need the set but I really don’t need more brushes 🤣

I really enjoyed watching your review of all your tools you use, I loved the little fold away brushes, I've never seen them before, and when I go into the city which takes just over an hour from home, I've not even seen them in the art shop, but I'll look on line, I have a bit of a paper fetish so I'll look to see if I can get some of the ones you have, although I do have a very nice canson 300lb pad which is also great for using pastels on. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the products you use. Cheers!

great recommendations! there’s some things I would never have thought of to use but they make so much sense, definetly gonna use one of those swedish dish cloths they seem more absorbent and washable than the washcloths i’ve been using lol :) also- I love the muted earthy purpley palette you’ve put together for your paintings, so inspiring and calming!!

Thanks so much for the kind words 💕 Yes, the Swedish cloths are really useful, I also like that you are less likely to pick up lint when cleaning or removing some of the water from your brushes, they are helpful in many ways :)

Thanks for this! Here are my 2022 faves in case you are going shopping… I also discovered Roman Szmal Watercolours. Misty morning and shadow violet seem to get the most use. Pyrol scarlet is just a gorgeous vibrant red. I also discovered the tri-wedge brush by Kingart. It’s really interesting if you like spontaneous brush strokes. Rosemary and co makes a version too and it’s not as pricey, but I haven’t tried it. The other thing I discovered this year is Winsor and Newton cotton blocks. A little less expensive than arches but very nice! And now that I’ve started using blocks, I’m a little spoiled… so convenient! One last thing if you like brush fine liners. Uni-pin makes an extra fine with real brush hairs. It’s hard to find but I think jet pens carries it. It’s divine! Thanks for sharing. Happy Holidays from Canada 🇨🇦!

Thanks for sharing some of your favs! I have always wanted to try the tri-wedge brush, do you use it for abstract works or something like florals? I have not tried the Winsor Newton blocks, I will have to give them a try, I really do like the convenience of a block - I still like to tape it to get a border, but knowing I dont have to is lovely :) Happy holidays to you too, I bet Canada is beautiful right now (but cold!).

    Hello Jannah...
you sound a bit Aussie, but living in USA?
If so, hello from a fellow Aussie.
    Thanks for the video.
Could you do me a small mix favour with your Roman Szmal, with the "tint" colour with a Cobalt blue please? Could let me know if you get a grey or a green? Thank you in advance! Looking for a sky and cloud glow. A bit of a unicorn, I love a cobalt or warm blue like periwinkle, or lavender with a white in it, to make it opaque thinned out, and less granulating. I love Schmincke's finest Ultramarine. I know I am searching for a glow, without going green that is also non granulating. Eg jarosite. Or some gold ochres, some Naples or Flesh colours. It is likely to be a neutral yellowy orange or a PBr7 like a burnt sienna...
Like you, also a fan of pens and ink. Have you tried Emma, the R & K sketch ink? A waterproof greeny olive, fast drying!
    In kindred spirit,
    Eliza.

PS I like the look of your deep bag. Where do you get the large fine mist spray bottles? They are not on your list?
PPS: Thanks Jannah for your channel. xx
PPPS: You need to try my favourite RS, "Misty Morning", it separates, a light cool grey into a rose and cobalt teal kind of colour. An edge happens. It is delightful. Good by itself. Seeing as though you like your neutral abstracts, I think you will have a new favourite.....

Hey Eliza, I am originally from Perth, I moved over here in 2000 :) I will try that mix out for you and let you know what we get, but just so you know it is a strange paint and leans on the drier side with some texture so it does granulate a little so would not work for clean washes.
I also love Misty Morning, it is such an interesting color, I believe I may have used it in some of my most recent abstracts and the way it separates 😍. I recently got my hands on some Schmincke Ultramarine Finest so I need to play around with that one.
I own all the Rohrer & Klinger Sketchinks (I did a couple of videos on them) and love Emma, they are such great inks to write with and do ink and wash. Thanks so much for sharing some of your favs and so glad you are part of our little creative community :)

@@jannahlyon Thanking you so much, Jannah. Nice to meet you, hope you are enjoying America. We were due to head over in C19, so it will be next year now. Have a wonderful day. I appreciate the test, and results. No rush, I have been looking for this unicorn for some time!
I will have a look at your video today, as there isn't much about these wonderful inks. I only have the Emma, I like it for all my lines, a bit different to grey, black, sepia or walnut, but reads as a neutral. I use it often in my favourite, world wide Bespoke letterpress journal made in Bowral NSW. (It can take any media, thick creamy paper, wide light lines, nice and chunky A5 for a handbag. Linen wrapped, watercolour washes no problem.) I use it in one particular spot at Bondi Beach south, looking North. I sit there and sketch that same spot often, just in different ways, colours.
