let me know what christmas is like for you where you live down below 👇
this was originally on my other channel Mixed and Nerdy, but its Bluey so it belongs here! So i re-edited it with some extra stuff. Hope you enjoy it!
Have a merry Christmas! I live in Tasmania and we don5 swim but we do have a warm outside lunch!
i live in BC, pretty much the only place in Canada where it never snows. BUT NOT THIS YEAR!!
@Ella Jessica oo we have roast pork, chocolate ripple cake, sausages and salad oh and prawns
I wish you all a holly jolly Merry Christmas!!!
@@Glitzy_Chan_ I know that bad snow storm is going to flunk my cousin coming in from dc damn it Mother Nature and trxie rocks
I like how Bluey incorporates traditional Christmas things and their own.
Same it really makes it special
I never realized how similar Australian traditions are to South Africa, cuz almost everything in this video is spot on in South Africa. Lots of love from 🇿🇦
same gurll
In the UK, we usually have turkey because it's a traditional Christmas meat. US people have that too.😁
yeah turkey is popular for xmas in Australia, but its interesting i found a lot o people use turkey or both thanksgiving and christmas here in the US
I’m Aussie and we sometimes have turducken (turkey duck and chicken in one) or just chicken
Normally here in the US it is either Turkey or Roast
@@Aperson3727 same except it’s turducken or ham
Where I am in the US a prime rib or a ham is traditional, not turnkey, that's one for Thanksgiving! It differs all over the country :)
I love how bluey incorporates actual Australian culture into the episodes
This whole episode to me is basically Christmas but in Florida, only chillier and a somewhat more traditional Christmas American meal than a barbecue.
And young me would have really appreciated this show as all Christmas specials I've obviously seen always included snow, and I felt very left out all the time because I wanted snow so badly in Florida.
So this episode is pretty touching in a localization sense, even though its in Australia.
Ngl a lot of this episode reminded me of Christmas’s in my family. We’re half danish and a lot of these traditions are shared with us Danes too. The Christmas crackers were my favourite growing up but the biggest similarities were the food. Lots of warm food but balanced out with cold dishes too (and lots of seafood of course) I love this episode with all my heart and am so glad you covered it for the holidays!
That’s so cool you do similar things! Christmas crackers were one of my favorite things as well
Well my best friend is also half danish?
It's spot on for an Aussie Xmas!! Most nostalgic episode yet!!.. well for one of the youngest members of the Millennial generation
over here we dont really have Christmas as a main holiday thinggy, but i still love it because my family and friends would usually try to spend time with each other and buy gifts for each other on Christmas and we like going out for drinks at midnight and stay up until 3AM in the morning. We also get invited to see the Christmas play at the Church in front of our house because we are their neighbors. This episode is my favorite because it just made me remember how much fun spending Christmas with my family and friends
i love this episode of bluey so much since it reminds me of my own family during the christmas season. how we have a barbecue, a swim and a whole family christmas dinner while calling the family members who couldn't make it. it makes me cry every time i watch it since it shows how much all the heelers love and care for each other. i hope you have an amazing christmas in america💗
All I want for Christmas, isssss, more Bluey episodes!
Me tooooo
Me toooooo
Me tooooooooooooooooo🎉
this reminds me a little of christimas in LATAM it's really hot here too and once for christmas my gift was a little pool and i was so excited , sometimes americans are a little obnoxious with their winter christmas "whaat you have christmas on summer??? no way !!!" so i really like seeing this summer christmas rep
I already knew Australia Christmas is inbsummer because of a book I read (no offence also in Australia Summer is winter in America and winter is summer in America right)
Oh yes I went to argentina at christmas an I wus like "why is si hot in here?" "Is summer girl" ...
Do you think we will ever see the girls interact with snow? I think it would be really cool if, for example, they would fly somewhere for christmas and the girls would see snow for the first time!
That would be really cool! We do have some snow in the mountains in the south or they could go to new Zelda d for a winter trip and see snow
theyd just need to wait for like july or smtg
Umm in summer for us its it winter for them like-
So they see snow but they don’t put it in the show
@@HÜLSDINO Australia is a pretty hot country, even in winter compared to other countries like US, Canada, Japan, UK ECT. so as Aussie Girl Margie said, we only get snow in mountains as lower land is just not cold enough and instead gets rain or hail which isn't fun, especially in some areas that get ice rocks that smash outside cars.
Another Aussie here, we used to play classic catches or get in a group in the shallow water at the beach like taking footy specky's.
I love learning more about Australian culture through Bluey and your channel
This is one of my favorite episodes! I live in the UK and have all my life so I love seeing the different things they do in Australia portrayed in bluey! Verandah santa is the same : )
yeah i really loved what they did with both christmas episodes it was super aussie
Ngl i was really happy to see the very aussie Christmas episode as an american because i was really curious and watching the episode was a really easy and fun way to learn about another country’s Christmas traditions it was super cool :)
I loved this episode so much, it is my dream one day to spend Christmas in Australia, just so I can see what it's like to have a warm Christmas. I think a Christmas swim is so fantastic. Thank you for sharing what it is like in Australia with us. I have always been so curious how Christmas is different there sense it is in the summer. ♥
I live in Florida and it’s still kinda warm here during Christmas, especially in recent years (tho this year it’s pretty chilly!), so it didn’t even raise any questions when I saw them swimming on Christmas. I’m pretty sure one Christmas I went to my friend’s house and swam. Maybe it was for New Years, but same difference.
Also over here (for my family at least) Christmas dinner isn’t really big for us. We just had Thanksgiving a month ago so the feast isn’t that big. We usually make a ham or a roast anyway because it’s still a special day, but I wouldn’t really call it a feast.
So happy to know when your birthday is, Margie. I'll be sure to wish you a happy birthday then and I also wish you and your lovely family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too
Seafood is traditional Christmas food here in Italy as well. However we eat it on the 24th of December dinner, meanwhile on the 25th we eat meat
On Christmas, it's just me and my grandma (from my late mom's side). On Christmas Eve, we would open presents. Then, on Christmas Day, we would visit relatives and go out to eat dinner (if/when they were open).
Recently, I've made a self-discovery. So, I would celebrate Yule, but only by myself because my relatives may take things out of context, (people fear what they don't understand). Usually, I would bake cookies (either from store-bought dough/boxed mix or from scratch).
My grandma and I would make ham, turnip greens, potatoes (either scalloped or mashed), and her homemade stuffing with plenty of sage.
My daughter was born last year on Christmas. Happy late birthday Aussie Girl!
the catching game is actually a thing we do it all the time
for me Christmas swim is what its like on xmas here in Australia
Ah, I played that game all the time growing up. Got pretty good at it. We had a long dock so we would sprint full tilt down it and jump as the ball was thrown.
West Australia actually has a lot of fireplaces, also yeah Christmas swims 100% thing, everyone used to come to our place to swim
Wait Christmas Crackers aren't a thing in the US!?!?!?
When I was little I ALWAYS wanted to move to Australia because I loved the Summer heat, but now in my mid 30's I'm a fall and winter lover.
Here's an idea for a bluey Christmas episode. This episode of bluey would be called Christmas woes. So chilli invites her side of the family to Christmas including her dad mort and her older sister brandy. Though when mort brings up their last Christmas with chilli's mum brandy runs off and chilli and mort realize what this is about. So they find brandy in chilli and bandit's bedroom and mort says he knows what upsetting brandy so much. Mort says he used to feel the same way around Christmas time. Overwhelmed with emotions brandy breaks down crying and says she misses her mum she misses her very much. Mort comforts her saying he misses her too. Brandy says when she goes to mall's and she sees other kids with their mum's it makes her realize how much she misses her mum. Mort says when he was Brandy's age he lost his dad chilli and Brandy's grandfather and the holidays were always so tough for him and whenever he would miss his dad his mum would show him videos of his dad. So everyone's in the living room later watching videos of chilli's mum like the day they brought brandy and then chilli home from the hospital. And a video they made when chilli was in the hospital as a kid. And chilli says she misses her mum too. Brandy then tells chilli she's pregnant and later that night when brandy goes to sleep her mum says to her in her dream remember i'll always be here for you even you even if you can't see me cause i love you. This episode would later connect to the baby's here. So what do you think about this episode idea would it be possible i think it would be a great Christmas special.
I wish I could have a Christmas with a BbQ and outside swimming and all that.
Merry Christmas!
Love your Bluey contents.
I like the Green Christmas scene. I live in the Midwest where it gets very cold at Christmas. Christmas crackers and mincemeat pies are a UK thing, but we still have quality meats here too. My family has prime rib. Fourth of July on the other hand is a very summer holiday that has a lot of what we see here. Barbecues, pools, national pride. We're not so different.
Yeah we always make gravy with the juices from the meat during Christmas and Thanksgiving. It's funny that my mom hates gravy but she makes the best gravy.
In the UK we send everything christmas year with my grandparents but due to you know what, we had send 2 years in the middle east celebrating christmas and it gets kind of hot there but in the winter it's not all that hot.
This episode was on this morning in Australia before Barky Boats and I absolutely loved it
6:50 In ED, EDD, EDDY Christmas special the Kanker sister are seen using Christmas Cracker only the “C” are replace with “K”.
Canada does the christmas crackers and hats as well
My family played classic catches all the time. it’s the best feeling when ur the only one that caught the ball
We also have savory pie in the US. They’re call pot pies.
I LOVE you're videos ⛄
thanks so much and thank you for watching!
Kids at the pool in my neighborhood played that catch game all the time! We also had sharks and minnows and alligator.
Happy birthday!!
My uncle this Christmas had a Grill Master apron on and everyone was telling him to take it off because he burnt the pork crackling 😭 and all I could think was this episode cause I watched that same morning. My younger cousin is very much like muffin as well so this episode is so accurate to me. Oh an the nana and the gravy as well because both my Aunty ,who always host and my grandma both have chef qualifications.
Growing up we made popcorn balls on Christmas Eve and woke up early to empty out stockings and open presents; my Dad would sit by the tree and pull presents out one by one and pass them out one at a time to us so we could open them.
Christmas dinner was usually a ham and mashed potatoes with vegetables.
Now that I’m married it’s basically the same thing with the exception of the popcorn balls as it’s new and I’m really the only one who eats them and I’m limiting my corn intake right now as it seems to bother my new baby.
I do remember the first time that I heard that people in the Southern Hemisphere like Australia could go to the beach for Christmas and that places in the Southern Hemisphere got snow on my birthday I thought that it was great because I wanted snow on my birthday. I will admit that I do prefer to have white Christmases because of where I live tends to have snow for Christmas but it would be nice to be able to swim on Christmas in an outdoor pool.
Since I am Italian, I usually eat ravioli or pasta on Christmas.
Right now in Michigan there a blizzard
In Czech Republic they have carp for Christmas dinner. Also Christmas is celebrated on the 24th as opposed to the 25th
Thank you for sharing what it’s like in Australia ❤️❤️ merry Christmas!! I am going to draw your mascot I love your videos 🌟🍿
Happy Early Birthday, Margie
aww thank you!
In Ireland we also love ginger beer
Omg I live in Townsville! I can't believe I didn't see you anywhere around
Sea food is also a big thing here in the coastal states. Here in the western states, a large part of our culture is influenced by east Asia, so fish of every type.
Native brit who gets multiple Christmases due to how my family is spread out. The big day is usually just the 4 of us at home, boxing day we go to my dad's parents along with my aunt and uncle, then the 28th or 29th we head to Wales to see my mum's side. Most of the time it's just a couple aunts and cousins, but a few times we've rented a space and got all 22 of my mum's cousins under one roof (it is as rowdy as it sounds).
I'd love to go to Australia, but maybe sometime in July. It is an option for study abroad, but I'd be going for the autumn term and anything above 21°C would kill me.
As a person who has Christmas in summer, that episode was ver relatable 😊
I didn't know you were from Townsville, go the Cowboys! Thank you for all your great videos over the past year.
In the UK, it is the start of winter so if it does snow we go outside and play in the snow but it is really rare for it to snow
🥰 this year it’s going to be a little bit different where I am from. Normally it doesn’t get cold until January.
In VIC, my fam go to each other's houses and have a leftover picnic on boxing day with my extended fam. We have seafood and salads on Christmas day. Ooooh and Christmas Ham.
i like this ep, reminds me of christmas in Brasil :)
Merry Christmas said muffin
In Ireland we call boxing day St Stephens day witch is my sister's birthday
We usually go to our cousins house and we do have a Christmas swim
My US tradition on Christmas Eve my family comes over and we eat and open presents they brought
we always have Christmas crackers in the uk too
'and i didnt realise this is not a worldwide tradition' (6:24)
me: wait... it's not?!
I knew of the Christmas cracker due to a Christmas book they showed how the holiday is celebrated around the world.
I remember the book showing us how we can make our own Christmas crackers
My birthday is also on the day after Christmas (boxing day) Which right now its actually pretty hot for this time in California, Its above 70F 26C I might go in my pool for a Christmas swim aswell merry Christmas from Southern California!
I actually brought a Surfing Santa's shirt [From Primark here in England] bit unusual for over here, but I plan to wear it in the summer and say "It gets EARLIER every year !"
I love learning things from you,I wish we could do these things in the US,I'd love a paper crown
... *THATS IT! IM MOVING TO AUSTRALIA!*
I’ll be honest. I prefer the Christmas swim episode over the veranda Santa episode.
It is in the UK
yea i watched that episode
You thought the sun in Australia 🇦🇺 was harsh? The Sun in Brazil 🇧🇷 is boiling, I got a sun burn there once
I’m from South Africa and I related a lot to the Christmas ep cus it’s basically the exact same traditions except a few things like the food
spicy chrismas
I live in Australia and it doesn’t snow it’s really hot
I've heard that Italians swear much. But i was shocked to hear that Australians also swears so much.
I'm living in Sweden we swear also much but italians the most in europe
without a doubt to see the series and watch your channel I can not help but see how similar they are my country spain with Australia this year for some reason in my city are more than 20 degrees of temperature and should make 10 which is similar to Australia and Latin America and unlike all America we eat a lot of seafood and like a chicken or turkey or lamb although of these 3 I only chicken plus there are many Christmas sweets like nougat or polvorones and cheese and meats like jamon chorizo salami etc... although it depends on the part of Spain in my part of Andalucia it is usually like this.
Christmas wasn't as big for thr meal when I was growing up. Normally we had ham but Christmas eve was a seafood dinner every year. One of my favorite memories. I am curious about the crackling they have talked about in this episode and am struggling to find a recipe to try.
You need to buy a whole roast pork and then cook it in the oven (or BBQ) the fat/skin turns into the crackling and omg ITS AMAZING
@@aussiegirlmargie that's something I want to try ❤
We are having a Christmas Swim this year.
Oh I’m so jealous!
All I want for Christmas is Bluey.😂
Same!
This is very interesting.🙂
Happy birthday
I married into an Italian family and now we always have lasagna or eggplant Parm or stuffed shells for Christmas also gotta wear your Christmas PJs!
Oh that sounds super delicious!
I’m American and we grew up playing the pool catch game with my dad and siblings but we called it “Awesome catches”
When I was four years old, I cut in the walls with red lipstick when I was four years old when I found my mom’s lipsticks and I draw dogs, Bluey characters and my mom was really mad. I was crying and she had to clean the whole house. 6:34
I don't know is you'll see this comment, but did you ever recognize the music from the ending of the episode that played over the montage? I fee like I recognize the tune from somewhere, I just cannot put my finger on it! Also, you mentioning how your birthday is on Boxing Day: well, my Mom & Dad really don't like Valentines Day, and my Dad's birthday just happens to be February 14th. So yeah, you certainly aren't the only one whose special day falls on a holiday.
How do you watch it after christmas in aus?
I’m in American it cold but no snow where I live but we but one some type of fire place my family where do Christmas Eve then morning (my parents are not together anymore)
Bluey is correct most of the time at least that’s what I heard but I don’t know bc I’m from the Uk and I’ve never been to Australia 🇦🇺
Why can't I find this episode ?
Aussie Girl Margie i cant find this episode on abc me where is it?
On Chrissy at my cousins we have to pop the crackers before we can eat they feed us at 10:00
I LOVE Christmas crackers
i always used to get a little plastic mustache in my christmas crackers
Happy healerdays. AGM/Aussie Girls Margie.
happy heelerdays to you to!
WOOO HOOO
It's not traditional, but we have Christmas Crackers in South Africa and its kinda fun.
Bluey make me want to go to austraila now. It has made me forget about the giant spiders which I have a huge fear of
Hi an English girl here my cousins birthday is also boxing day so we use to do a family Christmas/birthday party we stopped when he moved to New Zealand (he is now back in England)
We did that a lot to growing up
