Tom, I bought the Sage Barista Express Impress in January 2024 because of your videos 💪 and I love it! Now I can say I have mastered the machine; it's truly awesome! You mentioned that changing the temperature on it is very easy. To do this, turn off the machine and press the manual button with the single/double and power buttons simultaneously. Then, choose the desired temperature setting (power button light roast, double shot medium light, single-medium, manual medium dark, and grinding is dark). It's very accurate when you program it. Regarding dosage and ml, in your video, you pressed the button three times for perfect grinding, which is why it wasn't so perfect. When you grind only once, it's perfect, and the ratio will also be perfect in the end. Three-day-old coffee beans, and I'm in heaven! 😂
I love mine! Was a bit hesitant because of the influencer shilling. So happy I pulled the trigger on this one. I love a brew coffee for lunch. I love the cold brew for cocktails with some cold foam and coffee liquor. Didn’t have to try the quad shot yet because the normal shot is good enough for me.
I have the Barista Express and I honestly don't like it, I think I am going to sell it and get the Ninja Luxe or the Phillips 4300. The Ninja seems very impressive for the money.
Definitely don't get the 4300. The Barista Express or Ninja will provide much better results. If you want a superautomatic, consider the Dinamica Plus.
I have had the Philips 4300 for 4-5 years and gone through 2500 cups. Consistent coffee experience with zero issues so far. My parents also liked it so I gifted them the same model. Mind that I got the machine for a steal, 350€. Now I am looking to get the Ninja Luxe Cafe to upgrade my coffee game once it gets released in Europe.
I had the Phillips and hated it. After less than a year it broke and sent it in to get it fixed and it broke again. I bought the ninja and I absolutely love it
It appears that there will come 3 versions of the Ninja to the EU. They are already listed on Amazon ES501EU ES601EU and ES701EU. The ES701EU seems to have some design changes, looks like it no longer comes with a loose tamper but with a lever as well. Looks quite interesting.
Just got mine yesterday I'm fairly new to making espresso at home so this is great for me love it so far . Very easy. By the way great video watched a couple of your videos on this helped me make up my mind keep it up
I just got the ninja yesterday. It’s my first espresso machine. I love it so far. I haven’t tried all the features. I just make traditional cappuccino and it turns out better than my local coffee shop. My coffee is from Costco, medium roast Mexican coffee. I leave my temp setting on the lowest setting and it’s just perfect for me. I tried the hottest setting and it turned out too acidic for my liking.
Breville Barista is a sturdy proven machine, i've had mine for 10 years using every day and never had a problem... we will have to see the test of time for the Ninja. I have a Ninja Foodi power Nutri not even 2 years old and already having problems with it. So I am a bit skeptical about the Ninja brand.
Just pre ordered the Ninja, currently have the Delonghi Eletta explore looking forward to the change and the conversation with my wife that im keeping both 😂
I have the breville barista pro. If you like to dose and tamp your own shots then you’ll like it more. I like having more control over it so I like it. Someday I’d like to upgrade to a home espresso machine that is closer commercial grade
It would be interesting to see the learning curve for each. I have a nice espresso machine at home, but it rarely gets used because I travel for work. My family enjoys espresso however they’re not comfortable with using my machine so I’m looking for something simpler.
Feels like Ninja is price dumping with this machine. The amount of features put in this machine is insane, and Ninja is known for good quality appliances, so we can expect the same from this machine. So how did they make this price? I think they try to challenge Sage and DeLonghi on their territory, so they have to give a good price now. I bet in 2 - 3 years Ninja will be around $800-900, so buy it while you can. Great video, Tom, as usual.
there will be improvements. Never buy the first. Patience is a virtue!

@@gosman949 well, there are not so many things to fix or improve. Hot water dispenser? Well, not so many people need it, especially given this machine does long coffees. What other things? It is already quiet precise, it is already well made, it is already doing well all it is intended to do. Otherwise, yeah, you can wait and see what else they add and at what cost for the customer. In my opinion, this is not so complex as a car, where you really better wait for 1 or 2 years while the producer fixes all issues...
Quad shot, finally! A reason to have the espresso come out in two directions making two drinks at once. I never understood having two spouts on a double shot portafilter when I'm putting both into the same drink. They only need to add a hot water spout with a volume setting and it'll be perfect. It's a little slow on steaming compared to the thermojet in the Bambino etc.. but this level of automation with a thermojet is waaaay more expensive. Good job Ninja. Maybe Breville can lower their prices now? (Wishful thinking). I could buy 3 or 4 of these before one Oracle.
I like the height of the Ninja between the bottom of the portafilter and the bottom tray. It means you can place a tall travelling mug under it or a decent sized flask.

@@thomasbroker69 Cleaning and descaling are fine on both. But servicing with spare parts is quite difficult on both. I’ve opened them both up, and they’re both a pain, but the Sage is easier than the Ninja. Delonghi is actually better than both of these in that regard.

@@TomsCoffeeCornerthanks for the reply! In the blog it seemed as if Germany and the UK will be getting a better version than what’s currently available in the USA. I’m holding my breath for a version in the states that has a hot water spout! I’ll wait a couple of months before purchasing in hopes the US market gets this version!
@TomsCoffeeCorner , I was able to purchase a Delonghi ECP3630 just over a month ago. I chose this model because I have been watching your videos, and I felt that this was the best option I could purchase for now, given my budget. Your videos and my Delonghi have rejuvenated my espresso passion. I enjoy dialing in the grind and my techniques to create the best espresso I can. I'm hoping I can save up to buy the GCP as I love the build quality of the Gaggia, and I can continue to work on perfecting my espresso technique.
Just got mine. It's my first espresso machine. I've seen people say they didn't like that it doesn't have a single shot basket. Is that important? Is there an aftermarket single shot basket? Great videos thank you for posting
Ich habe gerade auf der IFA am ninja stand geguckt, dort gibt es dann 3 Versionen für den europäischen Markt und die hat dann auch einige Sachen die die US Version nicht hat.
Yep, my Barista is a little bit inconsistent but it doesn't bother me much as coffee it makes is nice. BTW Tom, does your Barista Impress have a programming port behind the tank (a small plastic cover)? I think newer models do. I am making a custom plug and play water sensor for it, I can send you one when done if you wish.
Sorry but I can’t get over the look of the Ninja, which looks like my stereo from 2000. I got the white Impress after watching your video (I was set on the black) and it looks sensational face to face. The lack of a water sensor is annoying for sure. Twice now it stopped in the middle of a pull.
Hi Tom, you mentioned a version coming out with the hot water dispenser with the Luxe. Any idea when this is coming and how much more it may cost in the US? Thanks.
I don't know, but I guess in the next couple of months. They're constantly out of stock though. So it's hard to know when they'll get enough in to satisfy demand.
Warranty, build quality, materials used , availability of spare parts, ease and cost of servicing ? Sage/brevelle are reknowned for the things i listed above , with many having devices 10+ years. I suspect the ninja doesnt, but will work excellently for a few years , do you really want to replace something of this price every 2-3 years?. Time will tell if cheaper initial price will pay off or if you take into consderation TCO it is worse.
Whats the max pressure in the group head while pulling a shot? Ive found the 15-18bar machines are much more inconsistent than the lower pressure machines. Going to 8 bar for me made a huge difference in not just consistency but also quality of the shot.
I can't make any guarantees - it's internet chatter. But check about half way down my blog post for some info about the new stuff: tomscoffeecorner.com/ninja-luxe-cafe-premier-espresso-machine-review/
Hello, I'm interested in comparing the warranty coverage of the Ninja Luxe Cafe and the Breville Barista Express Impress. Additionally, could you please tell me about the customer service and repair process for both brands?
Looks like a really good machine but too much to go wrong. Also, the storage for the tamper and dosing funnel is nice but if I want to upgrade either, which I probably would, they become useless. If I buy an espresso machine I want espresso. Don't care about regular coffee or cold brew. With all the features and the lower cost they had to cut corners somewhere. I'll stick with Breville. Really good comparison though.
Or are Breville rinsing you and you lack the ability to see it? The Ninja pulls a better espresso and you have no place to store your own tamper on the breville anyway so mute point. Sounds like you're making excuses to justify a mistake of a purchase on a breville.
To be fair, they both have a lot of electronics and solenoids inside. I'd say they're about a horse a piece that way. Touche about the tamper, but I like using the included tamper.
As I understand it, the Moka Pot does not have a pressurized basket. It's a perculator style, if I'm not mistaken. Big holes, and a water chamber underneath...
@@TomsCoffeeCorner u can modified moka pot with drill with a 51 mm crown, for hole cut, and u can use non pressurized basket upside down) Now common among China and Thailand. Mokapresso - the name is sometimes found on the Internet. Video with ready moka pot. ua-cam.com/video/6PpD1Aef6dA/v-deo.html
Hey Tom. Sometimes I like to make a decaf coffee, preground Illy decaf coffee. Not great but it is simple to mnually addi it to my superautomatic machine. On Ninja it should be the same. simply skip grind step and just use preground decaf. But i am wondering of this will mess up the autosense feature of the machine and it will start recommending wrong grind setting. Or maybe it is smart enough to ignore brews where grinder was not used? It would be interesting id you could test and make a video. Maybe do a several brews with preground coffee and see if grinder recommendation will change? Thanks and keep up the great work.
That's a good question, I'm going to have to experiment with that. I know it's possible to bypass the grinder, but I haven't confirmed that the software then ignores those extractions. Cheers!
I do not buy stocks but if I did it would have been in this company.. 30+yrs ago I spoke to the wife of the founder as they had steam cleaners one of which I still have and over the years have gotten no less than 20 ninja/shark products I would actually say more than 20.. If I was not aware of how the world will be changing soon I would replace my Barista Pro with the new Ninja but things are soon to change and I have other priorities.
I am just curious: If this is not a European model, is it a US one? If so, it should be working at 110-120V. So, how do you make it work at 240V in Germany?
Tom, you it took 20 seconds for complete extraction, shouldn't you grind be adjusted for the Ninja and 18 seconds for the Barista Express. Thought time is king for balance and taste.
It's an old german mechanical one with blaze orange raised indices and second hand. I found it for 15 euros at a flea market. It's called Premira - I guess it doesn't exist anymore as a company.
@@Sbwarwick I got for sale Delonghi Specialista. Earlier I disassemble those machine. And I got Breville and I check it construction too. Breville looks inside much robust, much solid and much professionally created unit. So these Ninja - reminds me Delonghi inside - cheap plastic assembly of other parts on strange plastic frame with plastic brewing group (top part of group, hided inside machine). So I got some concerns about Ninjas )))
Waste of money. Get a Gaggia classic and a decent grinder and you'll pull good shots for the next 25 years IF you service and replace burrs etc. Dont but these cheap appliances - invest in proper coffee machines!
Gaggia Classic? Decent grinder? What is this, amateur hour? Maybe instead of wasting your money on entry level at-home solutions, get yourself a coffee shop and roastery and hire professional baristas and travel weekly to South America to hand select the finest beans. Fucking rube.

I have had several Ninja products. None of them have lasted. High on features, low on durability has always been my experience. They have failed so many times in the past for me that nothing anyone says about them pursuades me to spend any money on anything they ever make. If it says "Ninja" on it, it can rot on the shelves--I have no interest and will not recommend the product to anyone. Future trash.
@Sbwarwick Except I don't! Just had substandard experiences, particularly over time. Love the specs, just have never lasted very long. 1-2 years, then done. Too bad, too, because they have so many things I like the sound of, but they have just not lasted.

Just got mine. It's my first espresso machine. I've seen people say they didn't like that it doesn't have a single shot basket. Is that important? Is there an aftermarket single shot basket? Great videos thank you for posting
A single shot would be kinda nice. Ninja is releasing one soon. If you go to their website and sign up they will email you when it becomes available
@@jeremymeehan1919 a single shot basket on its own wouldn't work with this model, it's only programmed for double shots and the luxe.
I only use doubles, so no issue for me. Singles are nice if you want just 9 grams of coffee.
The cafe came out as the gigachad, here's your three times the feature for a third of the price, bro
Not sure if this has been asked before. But how does the Ninja Luxe Cafe handle back-to-back shot especially for large groups of people?
Is there any benefit to using a puk screen with ninja?
There's no manometer, but as I understand it, it aims to regulate at 9 bars.
you've mentioned next version of the Luxe Cafe is coming in the next month? Is that true and when exactly? Thank you
I can't make any guarantees - it's internet chatter. But check about half way down my blog post for some info about the new stuff: tomscoffeecorner.com/ninja-luxe-cafe-premier-espresso-machine-review/
Could you please test the Ninja vs. the Meraki?
I was considering it. While I think the Barista Express is the more aligned comparison, maybe I'll show it against the Meraki, too.

Hello, I'm interested in comparing the warranty coverage of the Ninja Luxe Cafe and the Breville Barista Express Impress. Additionally, could you please tell me about the customer service and repair process for both brands?
I think they both have 1 year in the USA, and I believe it's going to be 2 years in Europe, but somebody might want to correct me on that.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner thank you
I only drink espresso and idk which one to get :(
Looks like a really good machine but too much to go wrong.
Tom hello, what about some video with ur experience moka pot modified with non pressurized basket?
As I understand it, the Moka Pot does not have a pressurized basket. It's a perculator style, if I'm not mistaken. Big holes, and a water chamber underneath...
@@TomsCoffeeCorner u can modified moka pot with drill with a 51 mm crown, for hole cut, and u can use non pressurized basket upside down)
Now common among China and Thailand.
Mokapresso - the name is sometimes found on the Internet.

Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Do you know if it’s possible to bypass with the Impress?
@@pigbenis11 it’s possible on both.
Is the grinder good, like is it comparable to an independant 500$ grinder ?
I would venture a guess that the grinder is not as good as a grinder you could get for the full price of the Luxe..
Let’s wait and see how the Ninja fares in terms of build quality and repairability.
I have a step down converter, which cuts the voltage in half.
Tom, you it took 20 seconds for complete extraction, shouldn't you grind be adjusted for the Ninja and 18 seconds for the Barista Express. Thought time is king for balance and taste.
Check the video at 13:04 and 14:45 to see that it was 38 and 30 seconds, respectively.
Which watch are you wearing? (One with orange strap)
It's an old german mechanical one with blaze orange raised indices and second hand. I found it for 15 euros at a flea market. It's called Premira - I guess it doesn't exist anymore as a company.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Thank you. It looks great.
Quality?
I'd say they're comparable, especially inside. The Breville has a nicer metal casing though.
Ninja look like a HiFi
Did you forget to tamp the second dose?
Tamped it in the machine with the integrated tamper.
2 watches for max chronoconsumption
Lol, Instinct for the data and timer, mechanical for delightfulness.
Ninja looks to me, like cheap Chinees copy of Breville, with some unnecessary tools. Am i wrong?
@OlegPC still much more consistent, and pulls a better shot than the breville
I would say it looks like the other way round, breville looks like an outdated toy that rarely works
@@juanarroyo465 Thanks. Will try to find more information.
Ninja is an American company, while Breville is from Australia. Both machines are made in Chinese factories.
Fucking rube.
first!
Brew coffee, quick cold brew and quad shots are pure marketing.
@carlo.lozada it's literally not when it can do all those things 🤦🏽 does quad shots perfectly, and can brew everything you listed no issues. Hating just to hate 🤣
@@juanarroyo465 cold brew using hot water? Brew coffee when you can make americano using espresso? And quad shots in a 53mm? Not hate here, just logic.
Actually, the quad shot is pretty cool. The brewed coffee is fine - like American drip I'd say. As for cold brew, everyone's including it these days. It seems to be a trend.
@dexaminer6047 awww boo hoo cry me a river🤣
I think you need to put a disclaimer about you working foe a competitor of Ninja 😂
@Sbwarwick Except I don't! Just had substandard experiences, particularly over time. Love the specs, just have never lasted very long. 1-2 years, then done. Too bad, too, because they have so many things I like the sound of, but they have just not lasted.
@@dexaminer6047you must have very very bad luck then
I don't know. A lot of people claim that they've had great experience with Ninja. As for me, I've only had this for a little while, so I cannot comment to longevity.
Did you do any puck prep with the Sage on your test?
