@@savantfool7123 the most important point is that you will find replacement parts for the lelit in 15 years, maybe 30 even. @@TomsCoffeeCorner I'd say it was at least half the reason why I settled for this machine. Price to performance was the other. Hopefully it lasts awhile.
Thank you Tom for doing another review for us on this machine, and so fast too. As always, I love all of your reviews. Can you please keep us updated on this machine as you continue to use it? Thank you so much!
What a great machine. It really covers all bases for the price. Originally when I seen the original vid that it didn’t steam manually I thought that was a big miss on ninja’s part so this is a great information. That’s for posting
That little grinder pulse when grinding finer is really satisfying isn't it Tom? 😆. Love it. I've found that the issue with the ratio being off, appears to be when the machine hasn't had chance yet to figure out what's going on when a large grind adjustment has been made. The guides state that you'll need to make a few coffees with it to let the machine learn, and I think this is largely concerned with the machine timing each grind and then knowing (for the next shot) what the dose weight was. So, if you pull a shot after switching from filter or cold brew for example, it might be wonky in terms of dose and volume/ratio, but then do another one with no changes, should be just about perfect. I've just done a test now which seems to have gone the way others have gone when making a fairly big adjustment finer. Brewed filter, size 25, machine tells me to go to 6. Dose is 17.5g (I suspect the dose volume, headspace, will be off slightly also), I've got it set to 1:2, but the yield is 30g. Next shot, the dose is bang on 18g, and the shot itself is 35g. Repeated to see if there was any changes with shot 3, all exactly the same, 18g ground, 35g espresso. Also I tasted them all, I could taste that shot 1 wasn't right, it tasted under extracted (using my own beans so I know how they should taste) shot 2 and 3 very good. Ta, Kev.
Thanks for your Comment Kev! Yes, adjusting the grind finer is very satisfying. I wonder why Ninja was the first to think of implementing that, honestly. :) As for the ratios, I have tested a bunch of times, and sometimes it's a little under for me, sometimes a little over (i.e. for a 2:1 I have gotten 2.33, 1.96, 1.74 and 1.69). But I will have to just leave it on espresso, keep it at 2:1, same bean, same grind, and then see how well it settles in. Time for some more trials. Cheers, and thanks for stopping by!

Great and informative videos Tom... I'm a little concerned about the longevity and servicability of such a complicated appliance. There is a reason why Sage/Breville are known as appliances rather than machines. I guess only time will tell....
Nice follow-up review. @Coffee_Kev has done a pretty detailed review and a couple short videos of different drinks. Since he's based in the UK he's gone above and beyond by buying/shipping from the US and connecting it to a transformer, all so he could test it before it hits the UK.
Another informative review. I did find a work around on doing a single shot by using two small handle less espresso glasses that just fit side by side. Each receives a single shot one from each spout under the portafilter. #advancedmode
#AdvancedMode.... appreciate all the clarifications. another wonderful video... Ninja certainly knows how to make appliances people want, for a price they are willing to pay.

What I like is that it's a completely new design and not another redo of past machines. What should be addressed in these videos is maintenance. Can the machine be taken apart for serious cleaning? I'm actually really excited about this machine tbh. So after a little bit of research there is a advanced model ES701 listed on the german ninja website, featuring a lever tamping mechanism, dedicated hot water, a somewhat different steam wand and support for espresso variants like lungo oder ristretto, albeit for quite an upcharge. I havent seen so much coverage on that model yet though so ill stay tuned for that one i guess. Nonetheless, great video, very informative and helpful :) Thanks for your content!
Thanks! Yes, the ES701 is not available yet, so no videos. But hopefully I can get one. These things are selling out all the time, and James Hoffmann doing a video on it won't help, lol.
I had the sage barista pro and after only 5 months the solenoid went on it so i returned it. I've since ordered the ninja luxe but 2-3 month delivery time and I'm currently using the aeropress 😔
HiTom, as always,I'm very impressed by your videos. I was originally considering the Breville Bambino Plus, but after seeing this Ninja, I think it might be a better option. The cold brew feature is a game-changer. What do you think?
For the money it seems to offer very good value. I have a Touch Pro, and it doses water for an americano, but it is three times the price, which is a lot.
Hi Tom, I don’t know if anyone has mentioned that it does have an americano function that adds hot water during the making process, I would also like to know if the steam spout end can be unscrewed/removed if it gets blocked?
How are the shots vs using a df64 or niche zero grinder(or similar) and a gcp or bambino pro or legato??? For milk drinks dose coffee matter that much vs the steamer?
With my negative experience with mine I did end up ordering another one thinking maybe I just got a dud so I'm giving it a second chance. One thing I really like with it, is you can use oily beans with it. Delonghi says not to use oily beans with their machines so the Ninja gives more options when it comes to beans.
I can confirm that the replacement works great. I'm getting correct amounts and good crema. So the one I received originally was defective. It did take me 5 times to dial in vs 3, but all is good now.
Thanks for sharing the review on manual frothing. One question, can we stop the stream or frothing process in the middle of the way? As you mentioned in another video, even the low temperature is too hot (for me). Thanks.
Can you do a comparison between the Nnja Luxe and the Delonghe Magnifica start. Trying to decide between a fully automatic and a semi automatic that grinds and brew’s espresso and coffee.
Well, the pro offers a better steam wand, but similar grinder and extraction imho. I like the weighed dosing the Luxe offers a lot. Adjustable ratios is nice too.
Hi Tom, I am going to buy a new coffee machine in the next few months and have started to do my research. So have got it down to the Sage Touch Impress, then Ninja brings out the Luxe. As it is still so new you have not had chance to do a Sage v Ninja yet. Can you say (ball park) when you might do one please. Thank you again for all your advice on this channel 👍
I don't think I can do one right now. The Touch Impress was on loan. I'd say the Touch Impress is overall a nicer machine, but it costs 3x the price. And honestly, the 'barista guide' works way better on the Ninja. I have never stalled it, and it always gives me 17.5-18 grams out. The Touch Impress can be erratic with its dosing sometimes. Cheers!
how about a review against the De'Longhi La Specialista Maestro with cold brew EC9885M the newest release from them? Id love to see how this compares to it.
Just an FYI for your Ninja review on your blog. It has a section meant for the Meraki review in the "Ninja Luxe Cafe vs Breville Barista Express?" portion. I was also curious how you thought the Ninja compared to the BTI. Thank you for the very informative gear reviews. Keep it up.
Various videos are finally coming out about this machine but yet nobody has really talked about the quality of the grinder. You're showing how it grinds and what the puck looks like, but true espresso fans are always really worried about the grinder and how well it actually grinds to make proper tasting espresso. How evenly does this grinder grind? Is the grind size consistent?
Well, I don't have a Kruve sifting set or a spectrometer to check the grinds. But it seems to deliver as well as you'd expect for a small conical burr set. Taste-wise, I don't know if I could tell a difference between this and the grinder in a Barista Express for example. They look pretty much exactly the same. The advantage with the Luxe is the 25 settings (over the Barista Express' 15), and the integrated scale for better dose consistency. For a deeper burr analysis, I think we'd need Lance Hedrick to take a look. He's the burr man, and he has a developed palate. Cheers!
Important: In the EU model, the brewing ratio and brewing temperature have been reversed. The brewing temperature is set in the Advanced menu and the brewing ratio is set at the front using the button. I got the 601 model today and was confused at first.
Hi. I like to use a single basket in my Breville Oracle. I get about 12 grams in and about 30ml out. If I were to use the Ninja Luxe Cafe is there any way to get a shot similar to that considering there is no single basket option?
Is this a reasonable upgrade from something like a Breville Barista Express and separate coffee machine? Thinking about it from a perspective of consolidating machines and getting a potentially more consistent extractions for a newbie. I'm not too great at dialing in espresso, and I've had the Breville for a few years now. Curious what your thoughts are Tom after more extended use here. Looks like a solid machine!
You nailed with this second video giving more explanation; however, I'd like to ask you to, if possible, in a new video to explore the "drip coffee" function. Is it good? Is it taste good? As the machine doesn't dispenser hot water, the "drip coffee" is the only option for people who loves americano (like me). Regards from Montreal, CAN.
So far I’m finding the froth on the low auto setting is just way too thick for latte art. I’m going to try to stop it early today because it is pretty hot too, set to low temp. I probably need to do a manual froth I guess. I’m using about 5.3 oz of 2% lactaid milk which work well with a manual froth on my Gaggia Brera. The tray dies fill up fast and I ordered an extra to modify with a drain tube so I don’t have to empty ever 5-6 shots.
What does the rich brew look and taste like? I am wanting something similar to a Nespresso Vertuo, its what I have currently but I am wanting to switch to something with less waste
I really have enjoyed watching your videos. I own a Delongi True Brew and it only lasted 18 months before it stopped brewing hot coffee. I only enjoy milk based drinks and love lattes so I'm thinking the Ninja Luxe Cafe will be my next purchase. I have not heard you mention the temperature of expresso in your reviews of the Breville or Ninja. Are they both equally hot? Also, do you recommend purchasing from each company brand directly as for as extended warranty options? I will never purchase Delonghi again. Big waste of $$$ after only using a product for 18 months. Super unhelpful and want me to spend another $200 to fix with no guarantee.
If u had to compare to the barista touch impress. In terms of coffee quality ect which is better.p And if u had to choose between the 2 which would u go for
I’m considering downgrading from my Jura to this machine, I just wish there were way more unbiased videos! Yours have been fantastic though! I feel like I already know all the ins and outs of the machine already and I don’t even have it 😂
Hi, i bought one a couple of weeks ago after i saw your review. Im having issues on inconsistent brewing volume, when trying to brew a 12oz im getting like 10 or 11oz. It’s happened twice after changing the beans. Ive descale it and ran a clean cycle and still nothing. Do you happen to know why may this be happening? TYIA
Tom, have you tried to change the shower screen since it's probably the same size as the bambino? I'm curious to know if it may make the performance better. I followed everything you taught us about the De'Longhi dedica and love it! I now have it at my work office, and this ninja luxe at home.TIA
I am struggling to get the coffee to be less bitter. Any tips? Honestly I made it the exact way you did and it was horrible. Could it be the beans? What beans do you use for espresso? Any help would be great!
Wow - such a long way from the Gaggia Classic Pro. Thanks for showing us this one Tom! Very, very interesting! Was wondering were you using Lavazza Super Crema for this video or?
Great video. Somebody on an ad I seen somewhere mentioned that the plastics used on this machine aren’t good for you. She said she researched and decided not to buy and got. Phillips machine instead. Do you know anything about the dangers of the water storage plastics on this machine?
Oh gosh. Philips will have plastic/nylon lines as well. You'd need a traditional italian espresso machine like a Rocket, ECM or something like that to avoid plastic. Cheers!
If you have reverse osmosis water, which alot of coffee snobs do, it's arguably better to have "plastic" to hold/route the water. (Metal does leach into low TDS waster) I bet it's mostly silicone pipes inside the machine, and most of your piping in your house is probably pex - all petroleum products. And even in an "all metal" machine, you have lots of gadgets that are all petroleum based.

Cheers!
If you put in an empty portafilter and hit coffee brew Ive not had issues with grounds in the water.
how about a review against the De'Longhi La Specialista Maestro with cold brew EC9885M the newest release from them? Id love to see how this compares to it.
Just an FYI for your Ninja review on your blog. It has a section meant for the Meraki review in the "Ninja Luxe Cafe vs Breville Barista Express?" portion.
I was also curious how you thought the Ninja compared to the BTI.
Thank you for the very informative gear reviews. Keep it up.
Thanks for that! I went and edited it, added some stuff to that section, too. Have a good day!
Mine is arriving today can’t wait
Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCornerCan the grinder be torn down for cleaning ? Are the burrs removable?
Important: In the EU model, the brewing ratio and brewing temperature have been reversed. The brewing temperature is set in the Advanced menu and the brewing ratio is set at the front using the button. I got the 601 model today and was confused at first.
Thanks for this comment, I just got my machine and was very confused by not being able to find these settings.
Thoughts on not having a pressure gage? is it needed? the sage has one
I use a Chefman water kettle for Americanos. I haven't had coffee this good for years.
Hi. I like to use a single basket in my Breville Oracle. I get about 12 grams in and about 30ml out. If I were to use the Ninja Luxe Cafe is there any way to get a shot similar to that considering there is no single basket option?
Not really, not yet. The next upcoming models are supposed to come with single baskets. Actually, the European models already have it. Cheers!
For espresso and drip, I'd say yet. But I don't feel like the brewed coffees compare to a pourover. Cheers!
I’d like to know if you can use a screen puck and not mess up the calibration from the machine.
I don't have a 53mm puck screen with me, sorry!
Is there any plastic parts of the machine that is touched by the hot water?
If I use this in the morning, will the noise wake up my family? My only concern is the sound of the grind but otherwise I think this is my top choice.
Yes it does say that in a special "note" page 10 of the Safety Instructions, lol. I read it but didn't remember.
In terms of coffee quality ect which is better.p
And if u had to choose between the 2 which would u go for
Yes please let us know
I’m considering downgrading from my Jura to this machine, I just wish there were way more unbiased videos! Yours have been fantastic though! I feel like I already know all the ins and outs of the machine already and I don’t even have it 😂
@@kailathatsme I wouldn’t consider this a downgrade from a Jura. But thanks for your feedback!
Would there be a a setting that would make a single shot?
How many time for pre heat before the first shot? Thanks.
Do you have a link for your milk pitcher? I found the scale like yours. Thanks
My espresso doesn’t come out like this I don’t know if it’s the settings or the beans or both.
is there a way to make a classic coffee stronger? i tried the "Rich" function and it was still too weak. Would changing the grind dial help?
Thank you as always for your great reviews and expert guidance in some things! #AdvancedMode
Do you find yourself needing to wipe off the screen after each use? I noticed I have grounds stuck to the built in screen after brewing.
You can flush it if you want, or wipe it. You can also backflush it.
TYIA
#Advance Mode! Great review!
So if i have visitors, no way to do a pot? Each person has to do the grind and select setting for their specific coffee? Doesnt seem efficient
Can you please compare this one with the De’ Longhi ECAM29084SB?
If you consider the included grinder it’s a very affordable machine. I mean the Odd Fellow grinder is $200.
Tom, have you tried to change the shower screen since it's probably the same size as the bambino? I'm curious to know if it may make the performance better. I followed everything you taught us about the De'Longhi dedica and love it! I now have it at my work office, and this ninja luxe at home.TIA
The UK version has the hot water spout and a single basket.
@@vanessamorteo9315 Lucky ducks!
I am struggling to get the coffee to be less bitter. Any tips? Honestly I made it the exact way you did and it was horrible. Could it be the beans? What beans do you use for espresso? Any help would be great!
I'm with you so far. We're 1 day and only a handful of espresso shots in. LMK if you figured out what was wrong with yours!
Wow - such a long way from the Gaggia Classic Pro. Thanks for showing us this one Tom! Very, very interesting! Was wondering were you using Lavazza Super Crema for this video or?
No, I was using Martermuehle M-Espresso. Cheers!
TNX Tom👍
waiting for your next video comparing with other coffee machine around that price range / around the functionality group.
I like that machine Tom.
Me too!
What is the best coffee Espresso machine for Home, please ?Which one you recommend it ?
Well, the Ninja has quickly become my goto recommendation at its pricepoint.
Tom would you recommend getting this or waiting for the new Meraki? I know Meraki will cost more and that's not a problem.
How do you do manual frothing?
I actually show how to in the video. Pull the steam wand out, choose the no froth option, and press the button in for 3 seconds. Cheers!
Bonjour, y a t'il un mode d'emploi en FRANCAIS ?
Question, can you use pre-ground coffee, or do you have to use the built in grinder?
You can use other coffee too, you do not have to use the internal grinder.
What’s your favorite beans to use with this?
