He is better, NASA uses Kim because their computers dont computer pre 1650 dates. NASA used his brain to develop a program, Im pretty sure NASA has a pretty good computer NASA wants their computer to think like KIM
I had the honor to escort these two around Grand Forks, ND for a weekend, as we invited Kim and Fran to come and speak in our city. My favorite memory was taking him to Kmart to get him some cold medicine and Kim yelled out, "Kmart sucks" like Tom Cruise said in the movie.
They based a supercomputer off of his calendar computations at NASA? I've watched multiple videos on this man and just found that out and it's awesome. Being from Utah and living here my whole life, I wish I would have known about him sooner and visited him at the library. Horrible to think that he could have just been put in an institution. He contributed more to the world than most. It makes you wonder how many geniuses are locked inside their own minds and thrown away because we normies are too lazy to try to understand them.
I actually love the fact that he gets dammmm close to talk to you. It's like a personal connection that you can never get from another person other than your family. I love it that he is close to your face and talks to you.

Sierra Scott was very kind and open-minded. I get the impression she found Kim a good, fascinating man and enjoyed this assignment. She did a good job.
I’m not even sure what the concept of happiness would have appeared as to Kim, but I truly hope his life was filled with it. His abilities were almost supernatural, and he seemed like a really sweet soul.
Imagine if he read all the medical books. He could then come in handy as a diagnostician in basically all fields. Dr: ''Hey, Kim. Here are the symptoms. Could you give me a list?'' Kim: _gives every possibility instantly_ And then the Doctor could do the ''horses before zebras'' from the list.
3:05 Unless I am misunderstanding the narrator, she said Kim was 37 in 1982. That isn’t possible since he was born in 1951. Kim would have been 31 in 1982. I mean, am I missing something or did they already mess up 3 minutes into the video?!
I thought the exact same thing at that part and thought i was misunderstanding something. I guess this can be confirmation to both of us that we weren't going crazy 🤣
Godbless the amazing beautiful man, he is not given enough credit! This guy was capable of such spectacular things, what a gift to have been in the same lifetime as such a amazing person ❤️ His dad too, so patient and kind, both angels 🌸
Is it just me or does it suck that media almost always says, "Had this person been restricted in an institution, we would never have gotten to gawk at them", instead of idk, they would probably never have achieved what they wanted and be in the worst shape mental institutions in the 50's could shove them into.
After all that director did, telling him how much he loved im and how he wanted to make him rich and famous and how he was going to be known all over the world. As soon as the movie was over, he sees him the odd time, but the kid was given almost NO money les than 100 grand. greedy bastards
1998 I'm in the SLC library. Set down at a table and reading through a couple books. I notice a guy walk up and stare at me. Guy with him said we will go set at another place. Fifteen minutes later I go look for other books. I see this book my father gave me a few years prior. But this copy is a first addition, has photos. So I grabbed it to thumb through. Out of my peripheral I see a big hand. He was getting my attention telling me he has read this book. My first impressions I made a judgement about him being less than. As he walks around to my right side he goes verbatim on the book that would have trouble paraphrasing. He waddles off palms up "I read all the books" I got the vibe he sensed that I judged him and then showed he is more than. Immediately after that interaction happened another gentleman approached me and said excuse me but do you know who that was. I said no he said have you seen the movie Rainman? I said wow. Then asked if the guy with him is Tom Cruise. We laughed. He then told me all the years he has seen him in there never had he seen him approach someone and start a conversation. I got goosebumps as soon as he told me that. The weirdest thing was immediately after that the for book that a looked at said how to improve your memory.
Rainman's father threw him away yet he leaves his money to him at death. Rainman doesn't have the low self esteem that Kim struggled with. If Rainman had the talent it would of been discovered before the trip with his brother. Also, trains crash all the time. I wonder how different the barry's script was.
It is reported that he was brain damaged since birth. That raises the question was he brain damaged at birth or before birth? Also it is difficult to see how brain damage could result in a lack of brain hemispheres. That suggests abnormal brain development, however it is possible that both occurred.
Great display of human brain ability. At the same time we can’t tell that Kim has outstanding intelligence. Yes, he can store extremely high amount of information, but what is the use? If he would make unconventional conclusions out them, that would make it useful. Otherwise it’s just a great library kept in one place.
Just imagine being able to store all that information without forgetting, sure it may be just a large library with no use but I'd rather have a library in my head than a small bookshelf
Did you miss the part where he helps NASA find far away astroids and calculated the calendar back to 1 AD? Not only were his talents unique and often unsurpassed, but he contributed a lot to our understanding of the brain and the things I said before.
@@tavferry3301 At first, I would like to add that I totally agree - he has unique and outstanding abilities. Nobody argue with that. My point is his abilities are very limited and following already existing pattern. Being a genius for me is creating something brand new and has out of box thinking.
