That cheese wrap looks really good as a concept, it’s basically the “burned cheese” you get from say frying a cheeseburger and some cheese melts out and hits the pan, and everyone including you loves that burned cheese. I just think the cottage cheese is the wrong choice. Maybe a nice bechamel based cheese sauce that’s really thick, and baked a bit longer at a bit lower temperature? I truly think that one needs a do-over with some experimenting.
I hope you have a Happy New Year folks, remember I take a few weeks away from uploading in January, i'm working on some fun things & hope to be in the studio when i'm back, i'll be spending a lot of time in there experimenting.
Hope you and your family also have a Happy New Year! Enjoy the time off! Thanks for all the great content, and I'm looking forward to what you have for us in the new year! In the meantime, I'll have to try that lasagna soup for myself! Cheers!
I’d forgotten til now but my mom used to make carrot salad w just a basic vinaigrette she’d made. It was delicious! This brought back memories so tnx for that
Sorry Barry, watching you taste "the wrap" was hilarious. Thankyou & Mrs B for a year of fun entertainment. Enjoy your break. Looking forward to your 2025 videos !
'It smells angry and confused' 🤣🤣 If I swapped the beef mince and sausage out for veggie versions, I think I'd love that soup! Happy New Year! I hope 2025 is happy, healthy and successful for you all. 😊
BARRY! I cooked so much this year thanks to your inspirations! I especially enjoyed "year of the air-fryer" as I got WAY more use out of mine as a result and felt brave enough to try new things! Thank you so much for you videos and I hope to see more in the new year!
hey Barry, i saw your wife last night, and without being too specific on the internet, at a pantomime in a theatre that i work at and didnt get a chance to say hello. so hello to Mrs B and yourself :)
Been watching and subscribed since 2015, 2025 will be 10 years omg! Enjoy your January break, look forward to another year of fun, good food and dad jokes! ❤
I do somethingvery similar to the first carrot one since years now. I mix grated carrot with balsamic vinegar and salt and let it marinate a little ( sometimes I do almost like a quick pickle in the microwave) and then I use it as a topping for salads or rice, I just love how the acid mixes with the sweet. I made it so often that I even bought a mini chopper for it, the chunks are way smaller than when you grate it but it saves a lot of time and effort.
Mrs. B, before this video I just watched your first ever appearance on the channel, and your screen presence and manner with the camera has just blossomed! You can absolutely hold your own anytime Barry has to run off screen to be sick with cheese! 😁
Happy nearly new year! Thank you for all the videos this year and in the past. I had a rough year (understatement) and sitting and binge watching your videos helped me get through some tough times. Enjoy the break, and hope you have a brilliant 2025. Also the cottage cheese wrap seems like a good idea, and lasagne soup may have to be added to my to try list!
Just like to thank you and Mrs B for all the entertainment throughout the year. I only wish I had discovered you earlier. My favourites were the gadget tests (including the machines [ginga etc and your charity shop finds] also the videos where you use one item to try to make things they weren’t designed for {Will it waffle? Comes to mind}and the hacks. I must admit I miss seeing the kids. Hearing their comments on your cooking creations was often quite funny. Looking forward to seeing more from you in the coming year Happy new year
If you are looking to upgrade Glenda, I highly recommend an immersion stick blender. They're not overly expensive and can do everything Glenda does. Plus, they are easier to store, easier to clean, and you can safely blend things directly in any vessel you use in the kitchen - saucepans, mixing bowls, wide-mouth jars, etc. I got one several years ago and it is a delight. I do not miss my countertop blender at all.
Happy New Year to you and the family! And thank you for the lasagna soup idea. I live alone and make lasagna in a pan that is too short for the noodles, I have to break them to fit. I always have a ziploc of noodle bits in the cupboard, what a great use for them! Thanks Barry, for the great ideas and the hours of entertainment.
I love you and Mrs. B and the girls. Have a beautiful blessed New Year.Thank you for sharing with us. I wish you and your family the very best 2024❤ I am eating the lasagna soup.
Fun video 😄 The recipes look so good 😋 😂 "Smell that!" 4:41 Too funny! I have made lasagna soup before too 🤤 So good 😊 Hope you all have a beautiful and blessed New Year's
"Just add an egg" has an interesting history in food lore - the reason Betty Crocker instant cake mixes say to add an egg (even though it's not needed scientifically) is because American housewives began to feel guilty about using an instant mix, so adding an extra step to the baking process made them feel like they were accomplishing something more meaningful.
Just to clarify slightly, you still definitely do want to put eggs (or substitutes) in the boxed cake mixes that call for them. It's not that eggs are not needed scientifically, it's that Betty Crocker used to include powdered eggs in the mix, but then stopped and called for the customer to add them instead.
Thank you for an amazing 2024! Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve for 2025! Much love and many blessings to you and your family in the coming year. ❤
Happy New Year! I grew up on carrot salad with raisins. The dressing was similiar to a cole slaw dressing. Special occasion she would add small chunks of pineapple. So good and now I need to make it. Your cottage cheese is much drier and had larger curds than what we have in the states.
Genuine question: Are carrots (pretty much) always cooked in Britan? Asking bexause of the repeated somewhat surprised (almost with a hint of scepticism or even disgust) emphasis on "raw".
Hello Barry, for the korean strawberry 'jam', we don't usually heat it up, rather just bung one part strawberries one part sugar and a little bit of lemon juice into a sterilized glass jar, seal it and leave so it can turn into sweet goodness on its own. I guess the heating was added to accelerate the process. Anyway, this same process can be done with host of other fruits to make 'jam, and have them with milk, joghurt or sparkling water.
Norwegian here... We ofte eat shredded carrots (with a twist or two of lemon) with fish fingers, fish cakes, fish pudding, fried fish, smoked fish, etc. We eat a lot of fish here... TY for the video!
I made lasagna soup for the first time a few months back. I figured it was just overly hyped but once i made it...ugh i love it so much its genuinly one of my fav soups now. I usually mix some ricotta, mottz and parm with some garlic powder/italian seasonings salt. Pepper...n add a nice big dollop on top of my.bowl of soup...mmmm its sooo good
I have plain grated carrot with buttery jacket potato, grated cheese and heated tinned baked beans. Or with tuna mayo and other salad foods, cold baked beans and jacket potato. .
Hi barry thankyou for all your video s i have been subscribed to your channel for 5 years hope that you and your family have a happy new year looking forward to 20 25 of your new content
Thank you for the great videos this year, I wish you and your whole family a good start into the new year, lots of success, happiness, love and health in 2025 and a well-deserved and hopefully not too stressful January break ♥
First; Happy new year! To you and your family 🎆🎉 I was thinking, with the wrap, perhaps you need to roll it while still pretty hot, like those roll up cakes. Also, maybe your oven runs a bit high or the wrap needs less time, as it seemed brittle/thin indeed and the other one looked somewhat thicker, so more batter might work as well if combined with a lower temp to prevent burning before inside is fully cooked. As im typing this, I realize you're probably not making it again anyway 😂 but you never know, perhaps with different ingredients as cottage cheese is definitely an acquired taste even for people that love cheese in general 🙈
I have a feeling that if you used large sized tubes of Riggatoni and stood them on end on your dish or plate, then poured the Lasagna soup over and into the tubes and added a pinch of the mozzarella on top of each tube, would be an amazing presentation of the soup. Finally may I take this opportunity to wish you and your family a happy new year.
I enjoy all your videos. In the coming year I'd like to see you try the weston indoor 2 in 1 slow cooker/ smoker. I got one for Christmas and think it's great.
The strawberry milk has been around for a long time. I'm in my 70s and we had it when we had a big harvest of strawberries and had plenty frozen and enough jam.
My daughter made that lasagna soup, about a gallon of it and it was cold when I got home from work so was just a solid lump of lasagne, we had enough for 4 of us for a week!
I’m so glad that I discovered your channel this year. You have made my Mondays and Thursdays light up with your videos. Your infectious loss and your bad dad jokes. My granddaughter also enjoys your videos very much especially the gadget testing. I hope you and your family have a wonderful 2025 as you will deserve it.! I fell out small UA-camr💖🐩🐩💖👍☃️🥶⛄️🍸🍺🍾🍻🕊🌈
mince hack I never saw anywhere but I do it all the time : use a potato masher to make the mince into little bits. You wait until it's cooked in big clumps, then massacre it with the potato masher. Easier than fighting with it with a spoon or something. The mince won't go through the holes (I have one that's got square holes) but it'll break it down.
Where I make my carrot salad is I graded of course then I just put a little bit of mayonnaise then raisins and pineapple, mix it together and that's it.
The other times I’ve seen the cottage cheese wraps made, there were 2 eggs instead of one. Perhaps that was what lead to the stability issue? Not sure. Happy New Year to you and your family, Barry!
On "ideas for other appliances" I've always wondered what you could make in one of those hot chocolate velvetizers, e.g. could you make a dead easy creme anglaise (the proper one with eggs in it)? Hollandaise for a steak? Etc
With the carrot salad add pineapple pieces and grated granny smith apple. Use tin pineapple and add the sauce. makes a great summer salad and gets better when cooled in the fridge
The lasagna soup looks good, but what I find absolutely amazing is a Big Mac salad. A layered salad. I once had to work the late shift on Christmas Eve with some colleagues, and a coworker prepared this salad for us. I provided dessert (I had received an outrageously expensive Nuremberg Christmas stollen as a gift, which I shared - the fact that it was full of rum was a secret between my coworkers and me, I hadn't even thought about that) 🤣

Depends what you eat. A popular health snack option is carrots with humus. But with Sunday roast, they must be cooked.
