My school was meant to be going for a school trip to Alton towers that day. But one, I was ill and couldn't go. And 2, the bus that was meant to be coming to take us, well them, didn't turn up so they ended up just having one day off of school.
sorry to say this and i aint trying to be mean but i am happy ur school didnt let you go Alton Towers becuase you might of been dead or badly injured i hope ur ok
This shouldn’t have happened, they have block sections. The next train can only leave when the one in front has gone through one. This keeps all trains a safe distance apart. Why did the release the riders if the train in front was so close?
It absolutely should not have happened. The ride has mechanisms to prevent this and they worked properly, but when the safety system detected the stalled carriage and stopped the carriage with the people at the top of the first hill, instead of checking the track the operator just overrode the computer. The manual override is necessary because computers can have faults, but even after the computer alerted them about the stalled carriage on the track they never even checked and just sent another carriage onto the track.
Also the engineers there trying to fix the ride didn’t know that 5 were on the track he thought there were 4 so he identified the 4 carriages and overrode it as he believe it was an error
@@zackblake1892 no I'm talking about the person controlling the roller coaster not alton towers themself, that person probably got fired and a slap on the risk for negligence
Nobody has raised the question that the front crash bar is meant to protect people, So why did it buckle and cause serious injuries. Surely there is also a manufacturer problem with this cart design as well as the human error from the theme park workers.
No. Ride cars are not supposed to sustain a collision and implementing that into the design would just be stupid. The only concerns of a ride car is to stay on the track safely and keep guests restrained. Gerstlauer is not at fault at all and the circumstances were very specific

@@mirrore1730 there was a environmental issue in the area that caused the staff to sent out a empty cart and the cart that had the people on it got stuck on the lift mechanism. and a mechanic went to fix it but he did not know about the 5th cart being on the track and did something to the automatic brakes
Clearly they knew that empty cart was on the track so why didn't they stop others from going on the ride? It doesn't make sense. Do any of you think this was deliberate?
The electronics said that the empty train had entered the 2nd lift hill. Block brakes, or "Blocks" are brakes and when a train goes on a Block Brake it basically gives a signal to let another train go. The Smiler has 5 blocks, leading to 5 trains being aloud on The Smiler. So the ride operators "knew" that the empty train had entered the 2nd lift, so they gave the full train the all clear to go, without knowing that the empty train stalled. So think twice before you disrespect staff members. You couldn't do any better than them.
