- Dr. Baxter demonstrates how to perform a deeper stretch if needed to prevent reattachment of the lip-tie and tongue-tie release sites. By putting firm but gentle pressure, the area will open up and symptoms that may have returned will often improve quickly after the deeper stretch. It will bleed for about 5 minutes after reopening the site, but some gauze or paper towels.
How do I stop my 7 month old from biting down and blocking me from her tongue during the stretches? Her drool is also stopping me from being able to hold her chin down with my middle fingers. I'm worried about it reclosing
Use a bottle!!!
How long after a maxillary frenectomy does healing take? When can I expect my son's latch to improve?
Hi, thanks for reaching out! It's typically 2-3weeks. If they just did a lip tie, you probably won't see as many improvements, often the tongue is more at fault (even if it's less obvious). If you'd like to reach out to us for advice, you can email info@TongueTieAL.com and we'd be happy to help or talk to your provider. Make sure to do stretches 4x a day for 3 weeks or else it will grow back. Typically in our office, the latch improves in the first few days. -Dr. Baxter
