Woot
Great news! Thanks for the update :D
glad you liked the video
YES! FINALLY!
woot progress
Good news. Two of the big problems with Linux are DRM and HDMI. AMD did work to make HDMI high refresh VRR etc work on Linux and the HDMI Consortium shut it down. And if you pay for Netflix etc. and watch it in a browser on Linux you get 720p etc., so Linux is less than ideal for a HTPC because of DRM, whereas without DRM it would trounce Windows for that use case. The shoddy HDMI support means it’s less than ideal for a gaming PC attached to a TV as well.
Things will get better
This video talks about Direct Rendering Manager is not Digital Rights Management. You're statement is still correct though
@@ps3guy22 Yeah. I wasn’t really responding to this video, just adding tangential discussion for similar pain points.
VRR is possible over display port though, so it's not all doom and gloom. I'm using it right now, as part of a dual monitor setup
@@minion3806 Yeah. I was talking about PCs connected to TVs, which only have HDMI. I'd never use HDMI on any display that had Display Port
