This conspiracy is deeper than I ever imagined. It genuinely hurt me to see Maomao in so much pain and hurting like that. Jinshi about to be deeper in love, and Lakan looked like a truly concerned father for once. Here we go.
That literally makes no sense though. As a medical professional, I think you'd know more than I do how blunt force trauma from a deliberate strike made using a weapon designed to damage armoured opponent should do to a 5 foot tall young girl. It's kinda sad to see them not going with the other version of manga that showed the guard punching her instead.
@@LibeliumDragonfly I think the risk of her bleeding out from the deep leg wound is more pressing than the concussion, which is why I said that. We don't have to be nitpicky, clearly he shouldn't be walking that slowly when she needs a doctor asap.
@@DefinitivelyZach Anime creative liberties. LN Maomao passed out in Jinshi's arms after saving him, skipped to waking up in his bed. The long walk is anime original, as was Lakan shock.
@@clintcarpentier2424 while the LN didn't elaborate on that scene, there are many other details afterward that describe the hastiness of the situation. In the first paragraph of chapter 13, volume 2, it is said that she did feel like she was being carried for a short time, had a shaky feeling like she was in a carriage and then feeling like someone place her on something really soft. In the manga, when Jinshi talked about the first time he carried her like that, it also showed visual with him running and shouting something when other officials at the site buzzing. The slow walk almost threw me off the scene, but Lakan expression save it, at least for a little. Really wish they could handle this scene better.
What's so insane about this episode is to try seeing it all happen in Jinshi's perspective. My guy was just standing there performing his ritual duties and suddenly he got pushed away and almost at the same time the freaking pillar fell on where he was standing. Then it gets crazier cuz he almost died and the next thing he sees is his maid whose face is all battered up and she's bleeding from her nose and leg, then there's Maomao casually asking him for her ox bezoar before passing out.
In Maomao's defense, she's clearly concussed and not thinking straight. Speaking from experience but when you're concussed, your mind isn't really all there and just goes with the flow.
If you are in a shock situation you can't think straight. As I had an accident as a teenie my first thought was about my 4 month old puppy that was alone at home and my parents were at their working places. In that moment I saw my thick knee in the hospital and felt not really pain... that could think normal and felt pain that was hours later. Same as I was pregnant and became premature labor and a bleeding, I thought what will happen with my child and not what will happen with me. That is cause of your brain "protect" you for getting in panic or you pass out. So it's weird but normal for that was happened and she reacted after that.
he guard was carrying out his duty to protect the temple during a ceremony. Now, what happened was excessive violence against a young woman with much lower strength than him.
@@CleetjeLovesHusky yeah i mean it wasn't really out of character or anything. Knowing Maomao, getting that ox bezoar might have been one of her driving force to remain conscious long enough to save Jinshi. It was a bittersweet moment from Maomao(^._.^)
Something a lot of people seem to overlook: Jinshi's deliberate walk at the end of the episode is all about *being seen*--he could have very easily had anyone else carry Maomao. By doing it himself, it's basically a threat to everyone present not to mess with Maomao *or else you answer to me.*
I believe that Lakan knew that she would chase after jinshi, but did not know that in result an actual disaster would happened. And like what you said, he was genuinely surprised at the end 😢
@@dashiboth2167unlike MaoMao who basically pieces information together from what she can gather, Lakan on the other hand uses his gut/hunches and intellect to solve issues. In the last episode he preluded that he knows jinshi's secret. Lakan knew something will definitely go down and was on MaoMao's tail when she was trying to get into the shrine. Also wasnt it Lakan who brought jinshi the inheritance case of the siblings.
@@dashiboth2167That is the face of a man who just realized his plan to kill Jinshi failed, and as a result his property (Maomao) got damage. Now that Jinshi is still alive, he cannot get his hands on said property.
@@zam023 If it was indeed Lakan's plan to cause the accident to kill Jinshi it's kinda contradictory for him to help MaoMao stop his plan after she shouted out what's going to happen and then act surprised when she does actually stop it. The only explanation was that he was so confident that she couldn't stop/was too late but when it comes to a plan like this the timing of the failure can't really be accounted for. It could happen 10 seconds from now or 5 minutes from now so him letting MaoMao enter the building was very risky to jeopardizing the plan.
He already pieced everything about the explosion in that instant, and did what he does best use the right people at the right moment aka he is best when delegating tasks to correct people.
@@exia0616 he didn't do anything about explosion, but he did point that metal worker case to Mao Mao. He wanted this to be solved for who knows what reasons, I am sure we will know that in future.
@@susums1117 the moment he looked at the explosion scene he figured it out already, he saw the pipe and didnt touched it. Lakan is known to delegate tasks to the correct people, he would rather have his subordinates do the work upfront than do it himself.
I see a lot of people thinking Lakan planned the event due to his face, but given the conversation Lakan had with Jinshi a couple episodes back, he probably doesn't know where Maomao's mother is or if she's still living or not. Since he's trying to be a parent to Maomao, he probably views her as the last link he has to the woman he loved, so seeing his daughter, who he's been unsuccessfully trying to have a relationship with, unconscious and bleeding out probably frightened him deeply. He can't force Maomao to have a relationship with him, but he really wants one with her, and seeing her in such a state shoved in his face just how easily he could lose his chance to ever form one with her.
literally in the end: "Jinshi, why are you NOT RUNNING?!!!" and Lakan face when he appeared behind Maomao is the same face that Maomao gave to Jinshi last episode when he mentioned Lakan. That guard will never see the light of the day ever again. and was surprised you didn't delved deeper on the injury Maomao might had received on that battering coz the series being realistic as it can be, it will not be definitely healed instantly next episode.
That much is obvious, there really aren't any drugs or anything to treat a concussion. She's gonna need a lot of rest and ice on that. It's possible she got some broken facial bones. And then obviously they need to seal her cut asap. That's about it. But seeing as how realistic this anime is, I agree, she's gonna be out of commission for some time for sure.
Jinshi ran in the manga! It annoyed me that he didn't run in the anime because it made him look as if he wasn't adequately concerned about her well-being.
22:24 My assumption is that Jinshi is taking Maomao to the royal physicians in order to get any healing that can be granted to her for saving his life. There are still a handful of episodes left before the season completes, so I think that she'll be just fine as well. 👍
Be careful, I'm anime only and pointed that out and he deleted my comment - it's not a spoiler, we've literally seen them do that to only one other character
@@-Bill. Well I didn't really say what he actually is, just pointing out what can be seen in the actual episode. Even mao mao questions why jinshi was in the building too.
They already made it clear with the scene where he is talking with the Emperor himself. Like, everyone knows who Jinshi is at this point, except Maomao, because she still thinks he is some high ranking eunuch, so she hasn't connected the dots yet.
Love him or hate him, Lakan definitely let his fatherly side seep out... in the LN, he was literally shouting at the guards and demanding to know which one hit Maomao!
Im interested in who is going to be the bigger demon after this incident, Lakan or Jinshi. (I read the manga but there is no guarantee thatr's how it will be animated)
Regarding the bezoar, in Harry Potter, it can cure almost any poison. Harry saves Ron’s live with one. The guy in the archives deserves a promotion too. I think that Lakan was suspecting the plot, had picked some clues and put Jinshi and Mao Mao on the track, but never expected his baby girl to be hurt that badly.
Maomao's intelligence isn't just a fluke, everyone in her direct family are intelligent. Lakan is not the top strategist in the country for a reason, then there is her great uncle (her step father) who happens to be one of the most practiced doctors in the country.
Bezoar is once believed to be cure-all, but it is proven to be myth. However it is can cure arsenic poisoning. Minor spoiler : Maomao won't get bezoar in this season
At first I thought Lakan was the one behind the plot to kill Jinshi, but on second thought it doesn't make sense for him to then give the clues away. If anything it feels like Lakan's plan was for Maomao to see Jinshi doing stuff that a Eunuch definitely shouldn't be, and the attempt on his life was coincidentally timed. My money is on the one court lady being behind it, because she made a comment about a drug to "bring back the dead" so I wonder if she is out to get the royals for a perceived wrong they did her or her family (maybe a family member died?)
And a new detail was just brought to my attention that helps us pin down what era the series is set in. A conversation from previous episodes that doesn't really matter too much since the series is in a fictional China, but still somewhat interesting to some. The hat Jinshi is wearing during the ritual pins down the latest year the series can be set in. It was initially used during the Eastern Han dynasty (25 - 220 AD) and its use was phased out with the end of the Ming dynasty (1662 AD). In 1565, the Spanish opened the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade, this brought tobacco and cacao into Asia, and by the late 1500s Chinese farmers were cultivating tobacco on their own. With the rise of the Qing in 1618 and the subsequent decades long fall of the Ming dynasty, and a lack of reference to the empire falling apart in the series, we can assume the series is loosely based on a time period prior to 1618. The earliest the series could be based on is 1565 and the latest would be around 1618. As I said initially though, not really that important since the series is set in a fictional China only loosely based on the real world, but it's interesting to certain history buffs to try to figure these things out.
Maomao passed out because of concussion by the heavy club hit. I don´t think, Lakan was the culprit of that murder attempt. 1) He pointed out these incidents to Jinshi to be investigated 2) He stepped forward as Maomao´s guarantor, so she may enter the building. If he knew what´s going to happen and wanted to kill Jinshi, he simply could have kept silent about any of these. But I suspect, he knows the person or people behind these incidents and the murder attempt, couldn´t figure out for himself what they were up to and didn´t want his name to get involved with the investigations. I think, Lakan was just shocked about what happened and probably that he now understood what these people were planning the whole time without him figuring it out for himself.
Lakan likely figured everything out in the beginning; however, since he can't distinguish faces, it would make it difficult for him to present the facts. Lakan is a polar opposite of his uncle's teachings. Where as Luoman teaches to only state facts, never speculate, Lakan is willing to act upon his speculations, but he's also a military tactician, not a detective.
Oof, Lakan's ANGRY. Given he's known as a brilliant manipulative schemer, anybody who's hurt Maomao like that will have their lives destroyed. Ain't nobody touching that girl and live.
Lakans reaction was absolutely incredible, yet so amusing🤣🤣🤣 no matter how many times i see it i cant help but explode with laughter, hwoo that look of despair is truely satisfying 😂😂, but he is a good person(just a little spooky) and because of certain circumstances he wasn't around and when he found out and went there wasnt allowed in, * cough cough * because of the old lady. Not saying no more hehe
13:26, actually, it seems that ox bezoars were once considered an antidote against all poisons, but it seems it was only effective against poisons with arsenic in them.
They referenced them in Harry Potter too, remember when Harry used the bezoar to win the contest to create antidotes because his potion book said "stuff a bezoar down their throat" - he also used it when dealing with the poisoned mead
Lakan investigated the pipe and left it there and Mao Mao found it. Lakan tipped them off about the seaweed case through Gaoshun. Lakan told Jinshi about the metalworker. Probably more but I forgot 😅. Lakan knew about Jinshi's identity. He is a strategist for a reason. It looks like he sees a bigger picture, hmm... 🧐 knowing Lakan so far, he could get angry at Jinshi because his daughter got hurt from saving him BUT Lakan is the one who gave her permission to go inside.
I've been viewing this series through the lens of "case of the week show" a la House, so the cases mostly being connected really blindsided me! Makes sense in retrospect as there were hints of something brewing, I just didn't think it was something so elaborate. Loved the dramatic scene and all, and I can sort of understand walking as to not jostle someone with a serious head injury - but at LEAST wrap her leg to stop the bleeding FFS. Lakan's face at the end was something alright - it's all fun and games 'till your daughter's bleeding out.
Dunno if somebody already explained that, but I think here's the issue with the cerimonial tools that alert Maomao (and that's not highlighted enough in the anime, but that's explained better in the manga): some cerimonial tools that are needed to keep the pillar in the temple from falling disappear --> the palace would order new ones from the best artisans --> the best artisans are the 3 blacksmith brothers --> the metal they work with easily melts if exposed for long to not so high temperature --> the culprit planned to place the tools near a source of heat (a fire lamp or a candle) to cause the "incident". They killed people that were needed to the coincidences to happen or that knew the metal weakness and could have possibly have prevented it (ex.: the blacksmith father, the rite minister with the sweet tooth)
In the episode after the metal worker brothers I noticed Lakan mentioned the metal and a ritual to jinshi. I think he put that all together and instead of saying it based on conjecture he gave Mao Mao the tools to figure it out potentially so that he could help her. Also so glad you sped to this one bc I was watching like “can’t wait for Zach’s reaction lmaaoooo” I was also yelling at jinshi to run at the end like??? HELLO???
Lakan did not set up the assassination. He knew it was coming and laid out all the evidence for her to find, What he DIDNT know was that Jinshi was the target, He is concealing his rage at his daughter being hurt. heads will roll
That guard is so fucking dead.. either by Jinshi or by Lakan.. Jinshi is guaranteed a beheading. Lakan is will destroy his life, its why he had fear in his eyes when Lakan stepped forward..
I think Jinshi thought that Maomao was dead, and he was so in shocked that he couldn't think straight anymore. That's why he just slowly walked as the last time he would have a stroll with her :))))
@@RedDragon-og8wn No, the manga cut straight from when Maomao lost her consciousness to when she woke up. I'm no doctor, but does running make most of any type of wound get worse?
Maomao was most definitely still breathing. It’s pretty hard to mistakenly assume that someone is dead while they’re still breathing. I believe Jinshi was walking at that pace because he didn’t want to give away to everyone else that she is someone very important to him. He couldn’t let anyone else see how afraid he was and had to put on a princely air as if he was rewarding someone who just saved his life by carrying her himself. Running would make the bleeding worse and could potentially endanger Maomao in the future by making her a larger target.
The club the guard used on Maomao was called a Tetsubo in Japan. I'm not sure on the Chinese name for it, but similar weapons were used going all the way back to the first and second centuries AD. A similar weapon called the Kanabo is made out of wood and both are usually covered in metal studs. The look of horror on Lakan's face when he saw his daughter bleeding and unconscious, definitely not the look of someone with evil intent like some people have been assuming over the past few episodes. That's the look of a father scared of losing a daughter, plain and simple. In the manga there is no walking scene at the end. Maomao says that Jinshi is noisy and then the volume ends and the next volume starts later. So the walking scene was added for the anime. There are differences between the Webnovel, Light Novel, and Manga versions, but for the Manga version this scene didn't exist.
Remember with Concussions you don't want to jostle someone around too much for fear of making the damage worse. Also as bad as her cut on the leg is, it's certainly not life threatening.
IDC what a single persons says on the subject... Maomao and Frieren are out here proving we can have REAL female protagonists in anime with actual depth of character writing and meaningful character development without the need for fan service (which don't get me wrong, I do enjoy) and who don't need a savior at every single turn. I personally have enjoyed both series overall more than I enjoyed JJK S2 and think both deserve nominations for AOTY in 2025... The character writing, art/animation, musical scores, the relatability of the characters, the storytelling and so much more are just on point EVERY episode of both of them. This episode had me broken down into tears at the end, seeing Moamoa getting clubbed in the head as if she were a full grown man only to to stand back up and show her resolve and then her passing out with her eyes open nearly had me convinced she was dead. Then the look of absolute shock on Lakan's face as Jinshi exits the temple carrying her lifeless body vs the look of rage and determination on Jinshi's face the accompanying music score is just a fantastic juxtaposition. I think this is one of those series from Fall 2024 that has slipped under the radar of most and they will be finding it this spring as more of us rave about it. This season isn't even over yet and I am so excited for the second season.
Bezeors, which come in different varieties, are more known in fantasy fiction. I can think of two notable examples. In The Sandman comics and show (Calliope) one formed in a human stomach out of hair and was traded as a last ditch antidote. And in Harry Potter (Half Blood Prince) Harry saves Ron with one after he was accidentally poisoned in Slughorn's office.
It does not look like a lacquer, but he knew for sure that something was happening. The hell of his motives. He noticed the tube on the floor during the explosion and left it there. It was he who gave Ginshi a riddle of the will of the three brothers, and it was he who reminded Gaoshun about the old business with the algae. The impression as if he just "I will allow children to deal with that." And I really like how the creators visually emphasize his moves in the episode when Lacan told Ginshi about the brothers. Like a puppet theater where the only doll was moving. He is a puppet that controls himself as a pishak to achieve any goals. Maybe his plan was to increase the value of Momaoma? For the rescue of Ginshi? But what kind of uncle did you so surprise that she rushed to push him? Didn't it be ahead of it? (What did the Ginshi royal blood be clear to me in an episode with a party in the garden where they tried to poison Lisha. Come on, on the holiday there is no Ginsha and another person who is too ill to be there? Who could be?))))) In a light novel, Maomao began to run and panic when the fastening was found over hot pores from the boiler and candles. With ordinary metal, it would not have such a large value, but when it was a metal that melts me ... And it seemed to me that the beat was not so sharp. Perhaps the guard was really a little restrained. And even Ginshi could really run as it was depicted in Mangi. But as a nobleman, he probably cannot really a boog with a low -in -hand maid in his arms. The episode is strong in emotions, but a little confused in logic. Nevertheless I like it)
Your reactions throughout were exactly how I felt 👏 this episode was phenomenal Also fun fact for anyone who doesn’t know that MaoMao provoked the guard on purpose in order to create a commotion to get the ceremony cancelled. She’s a queen 👸
This type of video with theory and research talking about the items is excellent. A different type of react and certainly with a unique differential. Their content is excellent.
Good to have that confirmation. I'm sure they would've animated ______ Jinshi running to the infirmary, and it could've still been paced well with the song, but I'm content. 🙂Animation is always hard to keep up. 🤔Maybe they could've had him run when he got to the bottom of the steps, snapping out of the shock?....Ehh.
@@notagreen-fiend9029 yes, it is incredibly hard to animate even on this kind of high budget caliber animation. maybe they made him walk like that for a more dramatic plot on Jinshi's exit. either way, this is peak episode! sad to see our maomao on that state 😓
The anime also changed the scene after the pillar collapse to have Jinshi without his ceremonial hat instead of with it. I personally would’ve preferred them sticking to the manga but as you all said, it’s likely due to the difficulty of animation. It was still a brilliant episode nevertheless
@@zerozero5073 if you were referring the same scene in the anime were maomao fainted, yes jinshi was off screen in the manga that was from chapter 32 titled as "the medium ritual master" but it was a different from chapter 40 titled as "sending off" that Jinshi was explaining to Maomao that's it's okay princess carry her, don't really want to elaborate more because it will be a spoiler on why he carried her that way the second time around haha
One of my takeaways from this episode was, "WTF is up with imperial emergency rescue services?" A "high ranking noble" is conducting a ceremony and a massive pillar falls from the ceiling possibly killing the officiant, yet all the nobles in the courtyard just stand there. Nobody runs in to say, "Are you alright, Jinshi-sama?" Until he walks out with Maomao in his arms, for all the courtiers know, he could be bleeding out in the temple. Jinshi's slow walk to the outer palace is dramatic, but in reality somebody would have run up to at least put a bandage on Maomao's leg.
Well the cut on her leg is quite deep also the position might hit a big blood vessel making her slowly bleed out if not treated fast and also that blow surely gave her a head trauma
Right so he needs to be running not walking dramatically!!!! edit: also I'd be more worried if it was her upper leg. Lower leg arteries are much less major. But still deep so needs to get it stitched asap
The head shot thing was really the unrealistic part when I read one version of the manga. The other version seemed much more reasonable to me, where the guard hit her on the head with his fist. She's tiny, and a very muscular guard's punch should be more than enough to do the kind of damage we see on her, but the thing the guard is holding is a bar mace, and that thing is literally an anti-armour weapon. Like, it's designed to cave in and damage people wearing helmets, and how does that hit not just shatter her skull and kill her instantly is beyond me. But once again, we've been so spoiled by media that we grossly overestimate the durability of human bodies, and I kind of understand that the mace strike might look more dramatic. Still, if you know just enough about both anatomy and weaponry.......
@@LibeliumDragonflyYou (and others saying the same) are right . . . as long as the guard was actually attempting to swing with full force to kill. Particularly given how the other guard holds him back, it seems that he's unlikely to have the authority to kill a servant just for mouthing off. I would assume that he swung hard enough to potentially give her a tripod facial fracture and a concussion but not kill her. It's not 100% clear to me, but it looks to me like she clears blood from one nostril before proceeding, and checking for (and clearing, if possible) a nasal obstruction would be one of the steps in examining and treating such an injury.
This is my Theory! Don't read past if you don't want to hear it! I think Lakan totally planned it, and wanted Jinshi to die maybe infront of Maomao since Jinshi had "Stollen" her from him. So he was FURIOUS to see Jinshi unscathed and Maomao severely injured or worse.
Lakan comes across super creepy but he isn't actually that bad of a person. He has made a lot of mistakes, but he does actually care about Maomao as his daughter. He just made a really bad first impression on her, and Maomao doesn't actually know the entire story between Lakan and her mother. But we will find out this season, I think!
Oh, Lakan is still creepy, hence why Maomao wants nothing to do with him. For some reason, he can't distinguish faces other than the 3 people important to him.
@@Ncyphen I know. But the anime so far has made him come across villain-creepy, but he's more trickster-creepy. Creepy but not evil, you know? He's made a lot of mistakes with Maomao and her mother, and he's sorta trying to fix them and be a part of his daughter's life.

@@katsucandyfr I actually can't recognize my brother once. Another time I can't recognize my own superior just because he had haircut. I just recognized by the chair he was sitting. Lakan is mentioned always visiting Jinshi in his office, because he is probably can't recognized him if he saw him on the street.
Lakan messed up. while i dont think he is the culprit, he has been feeding all the small cases to Jinshi, either to warn Jinshi or a weird way to play with her daughter. probably he did let the sinister plan flow to scare Jinshi a bit. either way he most likely did not expect Maomao to get injured that badly so he messed up. he already have his regret about Maomao's mother, so after this he probably back-off or double up on his effort to get Maomao.
The fact those things are made of iron.. her facial bones could’ve easily been shattered just by that hit alone. She would most likely get brain damage because of it.
How that doesn't just shatter her skull and kill her instantly is beyond me, that thing is supposed to be an anti-armour/helmet weapon. The other version of the manga makes much more sense, in that one he punches her in the face. But given how big he looks, that punch alone might give her concussion. I blame media for making people believe that you can walk away easily with multiple gunshot wounds and several blunt force trauma.
i got some manga knowledge but this is my take on this without spoiling... Lakan see all the clues and just waiting curiously what will happen next like playing games, like Maomao connecting all the dots he played this in 4D chess. but Lakan is so eccentric that he won't take any action that would involve himself but when that look in his eyes when he saw her daugther was badly hurt, it hits him hard "I just mess up my daughters life"... that why those eyes where so shock. at the moment. anime watcher you'll going to love or hate Lakan on last episode. warning if you watch the opening you can see all the clues in season 1
I do wonder about the means of assassination a bit, I imagine it'll be elaborated on but I imagine that the supports would be sabotaged in a way so that an increase in temperature would rapidly weaken it; so the only time it would fall in theory is during a ceremony when the brazier/caldron is lit.
It was during the metal worker episode. The metal they inherit from their father melted easily, so they were probably commissioned for the missing ceremony piece.
8:53 牛黄(Go-ou) The meaning of the kanji character is "cow yellow". It is thought to be named after the yellow color of dried cow gallstones. I do not know if it is effective or not, but I heard that it was used in China to treat high fever, convulsions, and strokes. 牛(Go) = cow 黄(Ou) = yellow 13:46 Dedicate your heart to Ox bezoar! 17:31 Maomao had hoped to create a ruckus here and then cancel the ceremony, but failed to do so. What is amazing is that Maomao did not know that the person performing the ritual inside was Jinshi and risked her life to save the life of a stranger. She risked her life for Ox bezoar, LOL. 18:54 If you can't remember this face and similar faces, watch 3:44. 21:21 蒼空の炎(Sōkū no Honoo/Flame of the Blue Sky) I was mistaken because of the similarity of the voices, but it seems that the voice actor who plays Jinshi, Takeo Ōtsuka, does not sing this song, but Daichi Takenaka sings it. Unclouded eyes I realized by the way they looked at me I realize how foolish I am Turn into a flame I'll protect your strong heart I will light up the path you walk This heat that I hold in my heart No one can take it away. * The above is my poor translation of the lyrics, so please just feel the nuance. In Japan, there was a lot of talk about the inserted song and the fact that everyone's faces are down, so it was portrayed as if they were dead, but in case you are wondering, this is a symbolic scene where everyone is bowing to Jinshi because he is in a very superior position. In the midst of all this, Lakan was standing there stunned. So did I. "Don't walk, and stop the bleeding in your legs first," said many Japanese. Incidentally, in the original manga, this scene is introduced as a scene where he was running in a hurry, not walking. In the anime, it seems that the scene became a slow walking scene for the sake of direction.
I think maomao intentionally insulted the guard to make a commotion to stop the ceremony.. but as she said, it was not big enough.. uhhh, how dare he hit Maomao in the head! Her brain is her biggest asset!
I think that maomao and I had different levels of a concussion. When I slammed my forehead on that tree root as a kid, everything went black for 30 seconds from my perspective but could have been much longer in real life cause the usual crowds weren't at the usual spot on the playground. I was so convinced that I was dead in that black void.
Every time Lihaku appears in the light novel, he’s introduced with a dog comparison before his name is mentioned because his dog-like quality is the first thing Maomao ever notices before seeing his face.
Face on Lakan is terrifying. You know heads are going to roll. He very well may of thought she was dead. What is interesting is, I thought he was going to be the guy behind it all. But the issue I have with that theory is, why would he let Maomao go in there, knowing the risk that she could be killed by the very trap meant to kill Jinshi? I don't think Lakan was behind it after some reflection. However, that also means angry father mode will likely be kicking in in future episodes.
Here is the lyrics to the song Blaze of the Clear Sky that was playing while Jishi was carring Maomao: Stared at by cloudless eyes I realize My foolishness Turn into flame Let me protect your strong heart Let me light the path you walk This fire I embrace in my chest No one can take away
Isn’t it kind of wild how many coincidences came together to save Jinshi’s life here? Lihaku came to her with his concerns about the theft, Jinshi just happened to see her with him and got jealous, leading to Maomao telling him about the theft. He decides to have her look into it on a whim, presumably just to dangle the medicine in front of her, which obviously gets her sufficiently invested. As she’s researching into it, the librarian who helps her out just happens to be one who was relocated from the ceremonial hall and ends up being the final piece of the puzzle. Best episode of the season, and I’ve loved every episode. Also, isn’t this the first real cliffhanger in this series?
That guard is so f*cking done... he will live because both Jinshi and Lakan understand that Maomao wouldn't want him dead... but there's other options. I read the manga but I can't remember nothing from this point onwards, only some aspects of Lakan relationship with Maomao and her mother.
I got busy so I couldn't watch the episode as it came out, but I watched it then your video as soon as I can because I really wanted to hear what you had to say about the bezoar. I'm part Chinese so I'm aware that it was considered a medicine way back but I wanted to hear you weigh in on how unlikely it is lol I loved this episode. It dwelled on parts that the manga kinda glossed over and it feels more complete, like with how Lakan reacted at the end. Can't wait for your next one!
I had a gallstone the size of a nicnac lol I didn't have a lot of symptoms though, only I felt something like a balloon when touching my belly. That was the gallbladder. It was huge. like 9 cm so they had to remove it.. lol
Can confirm: gallblader stones are very painful. I had gallblader colics for years until i decided I'm done and had my gallblader removed. Turns out i had 2 big stones and the gallblader was constantly in a inflamed/irritated state
I had one as well. It got stuck in the duct which is why I had to go to the ER, but it worked itself back out. It oddly enough hurt more than a kidney stone I had later.
@@theronealmadin1077His name is not spelled that way in the English light novel. Are you saying that his name in the Chinese translation would be romanized as “Linshi”?
@@stevelordofdarkness2340 Jinshi is the Japanese pronunciation of the characters in his name (壬氏), and Rén Shì is the Chinese pronunciation (not "Linshi"). From what I can tell, the series usually defaults to the Japanese pronunciation of names since the light novels are Japanese.
The realism of the shows depictions of illness and poison makes me terrified of that blow to MaoMaos head, the leg injury is minor compared to the how damaging that head injury could be. That is in actuality a fairly decent portrayal of a severe traumatic brain injury followed by brief loss of consciousness then adrenaline kicks in and they can manage to move and be mobile for a short time. This can give the illusion that the head injury isn't so bad, this isn't true. As soon as they stop from exhaustion or to rest or the adrenaline rush runs out the damage shows itself properly and they fall unconscious again. They have brain damage, it might be minor or severe with potential brain haemorrhage, risk of a stroke or even possibly comatose. IF YOU EVER SEE ANYTHING LIKE THIS TAKE IT DEADLY SERIOUS, brain trauma is no joke and if this was real-life accurate MaoMao could be at deaths door. ...that impact was brutal 😥😭
I don't think Lakan plotted this whole thing......but I think he may have foreseen some of the signs someone was plotting and decided to make a Game out of it using Jinshi as an Intermediary with Maomao. Probably was the reason he came just at the right moment to help her out, but I do not think he expected Maomao to get hurt like she did cause that wasn't a face of "What have I done!?" face that was more of a concerned "What happened?" face.
Lakan's face looks like that for a couple of reasons. But I'm not going to tell you why! Remember that Lakan is the one that set them both on that path to find out the truth behind the incidents. For me, Lakan's first reaction (where he says "She's HURT") looks *exactly* like how MaoMao's look was in the last episode. Apple and Tree, I guess.
When I decided to start watching this I thought it was over for the season, to my horror I am left on THIS cliffhanger!!! Also, episode 9 is missing from the playlist.
I've noticed criticism towards Jinshi walking too slow to get Maomao help, but I think part of the reason why Jinshi wasn't rushing her to the infirmary was out of concern for her head injury. It seemed as if he was trying to be as careful as possible when carrying her. Plus, with what had just happened, he probably didn't trust anyone else to help her in the moment.
I just watch the episode today, it was mind blown and definitely heartbreaking I ever felt... 😬😰 (I still can't believe they end the episode like that without letting us know is Maomao okay or not! Also I like that the background music is sing in Japanese but keep in Chinese way.) Every time Maomao connects the dot in every incidents in the latest episodes makes a lot of sense now! Someone was behind this was plotting to get rid of the man who died by overdose of salt and the man with food poisoning to prevent their plan to be ruined. But this is just my theory...because my suspect are two people, Suirei and the mystery eunuch. Now I am in between either Lakan was bad or good, but I think he was showing a good and fatherly side of him in this episode. But after I see the look in his face, he must had care of his daughter, he just happen to bad at showing it without came out being creepy and mysterious. (And seeing the same creepy face on both Lakan and Maomao, definitely like father like daughter...still give me shivers.)
22:07 dude, i have no medical studies but even i can tell that the leg injury is not the only problem and not nearly as bad the concusion she got from the guard. Nevermind, I'm just dumb
2 episodes later and 1-2 months later in world her leg still hasn't healed so that proves this wrong already. Like I said in the video, bleeding out will kill you faster than a concussion will. And apparently in the LN/manga she was just punched by the guard so that's why she doesn't look as bad after getting hit by the club.
@@DefinitivelyZach nah. He’s in the outer courtyard. Sure Maomao is awesome but she would be one of many in the outer courts. 🤷🏻♀️ it’s not like they need to only rely upon quack doc like they had to in the inner court. Also - they could call for her dad and maybe sneak him in🤔
@@noodles.dumplings.kimchi2878 The reason the quack doctor is so useless is because to work in the rear palace one has to be either a member of the royal family or a eunuch as was stated in earlier episodes. Finding a good doctor willing to become a eunuch would be nearly impossible so they are stuck with whoever they can get. You are right that in the other parts of the palace they would have much better doctors as it is a position of honor with no snippy snippy.
The outer court has trained physicians with much more surgical experience than Maomao. The quack evidently isn’t very well trained, but he does not represent the baseline for doctors working in the palace. Maomao probably has all of them beat in medicinal knowledge, though.
They need her father. However, it wouldn't make sense for Jinshi to panic: 1 - he has to be dignified if he's a noble, 2 - he obviously was in the military for a while as he spoke about the food in the camps so no doubt he's seen worse injuries.
My personal theory for this episode atm is that it points to Lakan. But why? Because he wants Maomao. He has been trying for years to buy her to no avail so he decided to eliminate the competition for her whom is Jinshi. He left a clue here or there because he was so confident that no-one could outsmart him as he is the palace investigator. And he's surprised at the end because 1) He plan was foiled, 2) Maomao was injured and almost died instead to his plan(it appears he cares in some way at least) and 3) Maomao has, in Lakan's eyes, outsmarted Lakan whom the only person that has done that before was her mother in go. Even if I'm totally wrong, this episode was soo good.
I don't think Lakan set it up, but Lakan seem to have connected the dots before hand and intentionally gave the clues to Jinshi and Maomao. So he most probably knew Jinshi would be in danger but did nothing about it to lure Maomao out?
0.0 There is no way that isn't spreading all through the palace. A man of his stature carrying her out personally instead of having a servant do it. In front of all those officials. And that's without the banner thing falling and the all the ruckus she made outside first. The mens gossip has been fueled. Kinda curious if we'll be seeing the Emperors reaction to this, or at least the effects of it. The concubines too for that matter, especially Gyokyukou. She totally earned major brownie points with Gaoshun and that elderly woman though. That one demoted worker, scared, worried, vindicated. I read through the comments on Crunchyroll and apparently we have so much more to look forward to. There are 10 light novels out, an 11th expected soon, and this episode puts us somewhere in the second half of volume 2. 0.0 We have so much more!!! I hope it gets animated to the storys' very end!! XD
You know, part of me is kind of surprised you didn't talk about the concussive force Maomao took to the head, the risk of her getting knocked out on the spot, or how much adrenaline was flowing through her to get to JInshi at the end before she passed out.
It's a balance because when watching I'm thinking about what I can teach about but at the same time I'm getting into the show and wanting to see what happens!
Do people in Maomao’s timeline understand concussions? Just asking because if they didn’t things could have been worst for Maomao when that guard hit her.
Her facial injury might also have caused an craniocerebral trauma. If he had been running, it would have made the situation worse. Shaking should be STRONGLY avoided with such an injury.
1. It wasn't Lakan. I don't consider this a spoiler because that line is never even considered. Lakan's character is very similar to MaoMao's in that he only cares about what he finds interesting. He will notice clues, but not get involved unless he has to or it's of benefit to him. So, one can easily surmise that he's there because he knew something would go down. But he didn't care enough to intervene directly. We've seen Maomao share this trait on numerous occasions at this point. 2. Jinshi walked in the Light Novel. Maomao describes her fuzzy memory of the moment as a gentle rock/sway. So, definitely not running there. Not sure about the WN version. Alternately, he definitely ran in the SE manga (it's depicted in a flashback in chibi format). Not sure about the other version fo the manga. 3. Fun Fact: Per the author, the guard who hit Maomao gets beaten by Lakan afterward. He gets a promotion 2 years later though, as he is good at his job.
I am anime only at this point. But i hope to start reading soon. I dont think Lakhan is behind the assassination plot, but he *was* having too much fun leading everyone else through his fun little mystery. My conspiracy theory is that the Emperor is behind the plot against Jinshi. It would solve potential succession crisis.
There has been a lot of commentary regarding the many mysteries being slightly interesting and primarily revealing Maomao’s skills. But like the foreshadowing, these incidents are connected revealing larger conspiracy or conspiracies. So we still await info on resurrection drug and morning glories. Did Lakan’s strategy mess up with Maomao being injured?
I think maomao is able to stand up because of the adrenaline. But her skull could have fracture due to high impact. Also, she could have concussion too. Her leg triggers me abit. LIKE HELLO APPLY PRESSURE TO STOP THE BLEEDING.
A backhand swing with a wooden stick on the ear from a well build grown man is really close to death right then an there. A bit higher and she might have died right there. But she won't hear well for a while from that ear. But I find it a bit unrealistic that she still got up I mean that had to be enough to fracture the skull/upper jaw or at the very least it should have broken off a tooth or two in my opinion.
Episode 19 of The Apothecary Diaries was amazing and somehow sad. Maomao shouldn't have provoked the guard the way she did but she was on the mission to save the person in the building who happened to be Jinshi. This episode also confirms that Jinshi isn't an eunuch we all thought he was. I hope I don't spoil anybody. He was so worried seeing Maomao all hurt and then carrying her out of the building to get her the medical attention she needs. A lot of fans of the anime were a bit mad of Jinshi for walking so slow with blood dripping from Maomao's leg. Sure he could have run but on the other hand what would have happen if he tripped and fell and hurt Maomao even more in the process?
It is actually better not to run with an injured person. Jinshi is remaining calm which suits his trianing and position and that prevents him from doing anymore damage to Maomao's body. He should have stopped the bleeding, sure. As for the head blow...I really do not like that they had the guard use one of those bats to hit her. His hand would have been enough to send her flying given their size difference. Those military bats could crush skulls, that was their intended purpose. They even used them for some very brutal executions ( 'beat them to death' usually invovled these bats). So she should not have gotten up from that, it realistically should have knocked her out. Now if it had hit her shoulder, it would have broken her shoulder and possibly her colarbone but she could have still stood up...but again, that's not very realistic. Hitting her with his hand would still be awful but that would make sense for her ability to move afterwards.
ALERT: if you see you cannot 'unsee' this, procced for your own. man, i don't know it someone already pointed it, but in your facecam there is a point next to the bottom center of the image that has a weird black stain, I saw this in a previous video and I'm noticing again so I decide to mention it. It is easy to see in the transitions in 13:33 to 13:36, because of the white background. if you already know about it, doesn't mind me, but if you have not noticed yet, I'm glad that I wrote this.
@@DefinitivelyZach I heard Jinshi did run in the manga. I guess they did the slow walk for cinematic effect
@@DefinitivelyZach
Anime creative liberties.
@@cherry1311he gonna be so vanished very soon...
Lakan's face towards the end made him actually look like a father. He was so concerned for her
It also makes me think he didn't set this up. He was genuinely surprised
In fact, Lakan didn’t have the pipe. He was investigating the scene and noticed the pipe, but didn’t notify others. That’s all.
He can't force Maomao to have a relationship with him, but he really wants one with her, and seeing her in such a state shoved in his face just how easily he could lose his chance to ever form one with her.
literally in the end: "Jinshi, why are you NOT RUNNING?!!!"
and Lakan face when he appeared behind Maomao is the same face that Maomao gave to Jinshi last episode when he mentioned Lakan.
I was kind of hoping for a rundown on her injuries myself
Jinshi ran in the manga! It annoyed me that he didn't run in the anime because it made him look as if he wasn't adequately concerned about her well-being.
running is beneath royaltyyyyyy
it's slow mo
22:24
My assumption is that Jinshi is taking Maomao to the royal physicians in order to get any healing that can be granted to her for saving his life. There are still a handful of episodes left before the season completes, so I think that she'll be just fine as well. 👍
You noticed how most of the officials bow their head to jinshi, his position becomes much more curious.
It was pretty obvious who he was since the Festival, and him escorting the very sus looking purple haired concubine out of the place.
They already made it clear with the scene where he is talking with the Emperor himself. Like, everyone knows who Jinshi is at this point, except Maomao, because she still thinks he is some high ranking eunuch, so she hasn't connected the dots yet.
@@-Bill. At this point there is pretty much clear about his identity just from anime. So many hints.
Really?
Regarding the bezoar, in Harry Potter, it can cure almost any poison. Harry saves Ron’s live with one.
The guy in the archives deserves a promotion too.
I think that Lakan was suspecting the plot, had picked some clues and put Jinshi and Mao Mao on the track, but never expected his baby girl to be hurt that badly.
Now Jinshi and Lakan are united in their desire for revenge. I almost feel sorry for the poor soul who pissed both of them off at the same time.
@Ncyphen and don't forget that her mother is also a brilliant woman who was able to give Lakhan a run for his money in a strategy based game
@@elgenetiamzon1062 Shhhh, I think that's going to be the subject of this week's episode. We get to learn about her and see a young Meimei.
I really like your theory. That makes a lot of sense
As Maomao said, the criminal did several crimes and this was just the one that perfectly aligned for her to crack it in time.
You are DEFINITELY COOKING something.
Great historical analysis! 🙂👍
Maomao passed out because of concussion by the heavy club hit.
I don´t think, Lakan was the culprit of that murder attempt.
1) He pointed out these incidents to Jinshi to be investigated
2) He stepped forward as Maomao´s guarantor, so she may enter the building.
If he knew what´s going to happen and wanted to kill Jinshi, he simply could have kept silent about any of these.
But I suspect, he knows the person or people behind these incidents and the murder attempt,
couldn´t figure out for himself what they were up to and didn´t want his name to get involved with the investigations.
@@-Bill. It's also mentioned as early as the first potions class if I remember right
Lakan investigated the pipe and left it there and Mao Mao found it.
He looked genuinely afraid for her and perhaps surprised that Jinshi was the one holding her and had been in the ceremony
That blow to the head definitely gave her a concussion at the least if not even some severe swelling in the skull
Time for another episode of CSI: Ancient China.
Side note: time to prove Lakan is not a bad father.
In the episode after the metal worker brothers I noticed Lakan mentioned the metal and a ritual to jinshi. I think he put that all together and instead of saying it based on conjecture he gave Mao Mao the tools to figure it out potentially so that he could help her.
Also so glad you sped to this one bc I was watching like “can’t wait for Zach’s reaction lmaaoooo”
I was also yelling at jinshi to run at the end like???

@@rebekahgoss4985 That's really what I mean lol :vvvv I tried to make it sense, but myself still being confused :))))
Lakan's face is definitely the face of a father out for blood
Bezeors, which come in different varieties, are more known in
fantasy fiction.
Recap, sad stuff, serious stuff, sad stuff, BOOBS!
truly a man of culture influenced by his professional expertise
I was rewatching the episode yesterday and it is so heartbreaking. the way Jinshi tries to keep her awake. His voice. just wow. I love that show
It does not look like a lacquer, but he knew for sure that something was happening. Who could be?)))))
In a light novel, Maomao began to run and panic when the fastening was found over hot pores from the boiler and candles. Nevertheless I like it)
Your reactions throughout were exactly how I felt 👏 this episode was phenomenal
Also fun fact for anyone who doesn’t know that MaoMao provoked the guard on purpose in order to create a commotion to get the ceremony cancelled. She’s a queen 👸
This type of video with theory and research talking about the items is excellent. A different type of react and certainly with a unique differential. Their content is excellent.
oh my god it's happening! insert the office michael shouting meme 🤯
by the way, in the manga he was running frantically instead of walking 😓😢
You may want to reread that part, cause he wasn't running in that scene. Chapter ends at the moment MaoMao passes out
@@zerozero5073 if you were referring the same scene in the anime were maomao fainted, yes jinshi was off screen in the manga that was from chapter 32 titled as "the medium ritual master" but it was a different from chapter 40 titled as "sending off" that Jinshi was explaining to Maomao that's it's okay princess carry her, don't really want to elaborate more because it will be a spoiler on why he carried her that way the second time around haha
The "breakfast tarts" are possibly moon cakes and are traditional sweets. I believe they are filled with red bean paste?
She would be lucky if she didnt get a skull fracture.
Oh my GOSH this is wild, the LOOK on Lakan's face as Jinshi takes out a lifeless Maomao! I'm freaking out. I need the next episode now! xD
@@whimsicallywiddershins6381 Yup.
I had a whole response typed out, but I deleted it for those who don't want to be spoiled. People will be really happy once they learn more about Lakan.
@@Ncyphen prosopagnosia is actually a real thing! It can take different forms so it's more or less realistic for him to be unable to tell apart most faces
Lakan see all the clues and just waiting curiously what will happen next like playing games,
like Maomao connecting all the dots he played this in 4D chess.
but Lakan is so eccentric that he won't take any action that would involve himself
but when that look in his eyes when he saw her daugther was badly hurt,
it hits him hard "I just mess up my daughters life"...
that why those eyes where so shock. at the moment.
anime watcher you'll going to love or hate Lakan on last episode.
warning if you watch the opening you can see all the clues in season 1
I do wonder about the means of assassination a bit, I imagine it'll be elaborated on but I imagine that the supports would be sabotaged in a way so that an increase in temperature would rapidly weaken it; so the only time it would fall in theory is during a ceremony when the brazier/caldron is lit.
they lower it during ceremonies so it was probably ment to snap at a specific threshold.(not hard to do depending on the pull system).
It was during the metal worker episode. The metal they inherit from their father melted easily, so they were probably commissioned for the missing ceremony piece.
8:53 牛黄(Go-ou)
The meaning of the kanji character is "cow yellow".
It is thought to be named after the yellow color of dried cow gallstones.
I do not know if it is effective or not, but I heard that it was used in China to treat high fever, convulsions, and strokes.
牛(Go) = cow
黄(Ou) = yellow
13:46
Dedicate your heart to Ox bezoar!
17:31
Maomao had hoped to create a ruckus here and then cancel the ceremony, but failed to do so.
What is amazing is that Maomao did not know that the person performing the ritual inside was Jinshi and risked her life to save the life of a stranger.
She risked her life for Ox bezoar, LOL.
18:54
If you can't remember this face and similar faces, watch 3:44.
21:21 蒼空の炎(Sōkū no Honoo/Flame of the Blue Sky)
I was mistaken because of the similarity of the voices, but it seems that the voice actor who plays Jinshi, Takeo Ōtsuka, does not sing this song, but Daichi Takenaka sings it.
Unclouded eyes
I realized by the way they looked at me
I realize how foolish I am
Turn into a flame
I'll protect your strong heart
I will light up the path you walk
This heat that I hold in my heart
No one can take it away.
Here is the lyrics to the song Blaze of the Clear Sky that was playing while Jishi was carring Maomao:
Stared at by cloudless eyes
I realize
My foolishness
Turn into flame
Let me protect your strong heart
Let me light the path you walk
This fire I embrace in my chest
No one can take away
The dude's the chief of staff. He can literally send him on suicide missions.
I got busy so I couldn't watch the episode as it came out, but I watched it then your video as soon as I can because I really wanted to hear what you had to say about the bezoar. I'm part Chinese so I'm aware that it was considered a medicine way back but I wanted to hear you weigh in on how unlikely it is lol
I loved this episode. It dwelled on parts that the manga kinda glossed over and it feels more complete, like with how Lakan reacted at the end. Can't wait for your next one!
22:38 LITERALLY SAME 😭😭😭
I had a gallstone the size of a nicnac lol I didn't have a lot of symptoms though, only I felt something like a balloon when touching my belly. That was the gallbladder. It was huge. like 9 cm so they had to remove it.. lol
Oops! The playlist seems to have gotten out of order! Episode 9 is now appearing in the 19th spot for me!
22:39 Door stuck! DOOR STUCK
My opinion of Lakan has greatly improved. I still don't understand him, but I don't think he's a complete villain.
I wondered if Linshi thought Mao Mao died right there 😅
Jinshi?
@@kuroinova2056 Linshi is the official chinese name of Jinshi. In the LN he is called that.
@@theronealmadin1077 don't defend me as I clearly misclicked the letter 😅
@@theronealmadin1077His name is not spelled that way in the English light novel. Are you saying that his name in the Chinese translation would be romanized as “Linshi”?
@@stevelordofdarkness2340 Jinshi is the Japanese pronunciation of the characters in his name (壬氏), and
Rén Shì is the Chinese pronunciation (not "Linshi"). From what I can tell, the series usually defaults to the Japanese pronunciation of names since the light novels are Japanese.
Lakan showing the same face as Mao Mao from the other episode......
This episode legit made me cry seeing the way Maomao was hurt.
i was close!
@@DefinitivelyZachme too
I don't think Lakan plotted this whole thing......but I think he may have foreseen some of the signs someone was plotting and decided to make a Game out of it using Jinshi as an Intermediary with Maomao.
Thanks for letting me know I fixed that!
I reckon Jinshi is going to the other apothecary lady now to ask for help fixing Maomao.
(I still can't believe they end the episode like that without letting us know is Maomao okay or not! Also I like that the background music is sing in Japanese but keep in Chinese way.)
Every time Maomao connects the dot in every incidents in the latest episodes makes a lot of sense now!
@@DefinitivelyZach ok
She will be alright fingers crossed 🤞
Man. The moment this anime dropped the realism is when Jinshi didn’t panic sprint to the best medical professional he knows.
the irony in your statement is that he's holding the best medical professional in his arms 😭
I’d be so worried about intracranial bleeding!!!! Looking for panda eyes and other symptoms. Poor mao mao!
BROOOOO I WILL EAT THAT DUDES ADAMS APPLE FOR BEATING MAOMAO!!!!
the only way i can logic myself into not being mad that he didn't run is that he wanted it to seem like she was dead.
Maybe it is to not move her head around too much because she just got a concussion.
Maomao gives her heart to bezoar.
for someone who read the manga. your are in for a surprise. 100% worth
U forgot about she also fell down a flight of stairs
I have the comic that’s right after this episode. Our girl is gunna be fine, just in case you guys need the reassurance
@@DefinitivelyZach YOu know, perfectly fair. Its a high tension scene which is rare in this series, so you are drawn so tightly in it.
Starts Music, WTF Mao Mao not dead, RUN! Jinshi she's Bleeding had a head concussion "RUN Jinshi RUN!".... Stupid prince
IKR RUN BRO!!!!
Would Jinshi been able to run while wearing ceremonial clothes?
it kinda confused me cause I read the manga before and he was running frantically instead of walking so slowly..
I think maomao is able to stand up because of the adrenaline.
But her skull could have fracture due to high impact. Also, she could have concussion too. Her leg triggers me abit. LIKE HELLO APPLY PRESSURE TO STOP THE BLEEDING.
If jinshi is ah-duos son as maomao speculated. then his father would be the current emperor
In one of the meetings with Jinshi, Lakan made an underhanded thread against Jinshi. Who else would go after Jinshi´s life?

Lakan's face?..... That guard is DEAD. He's so so dead. Lakan's out for blood I tell you
If you are that concern just watch the next episode preview. At least you won't lose sleep over it ^_^
ALERT: if you see you cannot 'unsee' this, procced for your own.
man, i don't know it someone already pointed it, but in your facecam there is a point next to the bottom center of the image that has a weird black stain, I saw this in a previous video and I'm noticing again so I decide to mention it. It is easy to see in the transitions in 13:33 to 13:36, because of the white background.
if you already know about it, doesn't mind me, but if you have not noticed yet, I'm glad that I wrote this.
That is my microphone LOL. I switched to having a desk stand for it so it will sometimes get tin the camera footage.
