    Thanks for posting this video. Videos like these help to calm anxiety in alot of people who are doing this for the first time. U-Haul does kind of give you the keys and say, "Good luck!" So vids like this actually help to prepare the driver.

      The 15 foot truck was very easy to drive. It's comparable to driving an F150, but it's taller.

      Update: Moving in July in 106 degree heat wasn’t fun, but this Truck made it so much easier. Very much worth spending the extra money to get the pull out ramp and the little alcove to put stuff on top. It burned gas like a mofo but it was pretty dang fast if you weren’t paying attention, and easy enough to maneuver and back up to park. Will absolutely go for this if I have to move again (hopefully into my own house this time)

    Thank you for the UHaul tour! I have to move here in a few weeks, and it's my first time with any UHaul. Your video has assisted me in learning the operations of the truck, and what it looks like in the back, haven't got the truck just yet, so I was curious about how big it was. Thanks again!

    Thank you for this video! I'm moving in like 2 weeks and everything has completely fallen apart and I'm now moving myself and my two small flocks of chickens myself. They can't go in the back for a 12 hr drive because the poor ventilation so I've been going nuts the last few days trying to get the interior dimensions so I know what size carriers for them I can use.
    Uhaul doesn't have any answers through customer service and online. I've been scrolling through videos and pictures but nobody ever mentions the cab and what fits! Just you showing the tomato box and the cooler has been a huge help. Funny enough I actually have the same exact cooler and the other day used it as a general idea for the carriers I could order for them to ride in lol.

      It was like a Master padlock with a key, but much beefier and larger than a normal one. I found it in my father's basement and was really old. A standard size padlock isn't big enough to secure the door. Ask the person about it when you rent the truck. You may have better luck than I did if purchasing one from the selection of locks they have. They did give me my money back for the one I bought from them that didn't work.

    • @camphikeroam971
      @camphikeroam971  7 місяців тому

      The cost to fill the tank depends on what part of the country you are driving in. The cheapest gas was in New England @ around $2.75 per gallon. it gets more expensive as you drive West. by the time I got to Arizona it was $4.05 per gallon. The truck has a 38 gallon tank so it varies with the price of gas. It got decent gas mileage, but the truck wasn't even half full. I tried not to let it below 1/2 tank if I could.

      The truck has a small display to track the average MPG. It read 9.6 when I finished with my trip. I didn't have that many things in the truck. everything fit on the floor space so nothing was stacked up high. I only needed the 10' truck, but they didn't have any available to they gave the the 15'. For gas, I tried not to let the fuel go below 1/2 tank. My average to top it off was $50. it has a 30-35 gallon tank so it would cost $100 to fill from empty. My total cost of gas going from Maine to Arizona was approx $1200.

      My neighbor across the street has been working on the white truck for several years now. It's a part time hobby for him.

    Cool video! Do you remember how many miles the truck had?

      Glad you liked it and found it useful. I don't remember what the mileage was, but it was below 80k. I was kinda expecting an old beat-up truck with 200k+, but was pleasantly surprised.

    Is there a way to get uhaul navigation?

    • @camphikeroam971
      @camphikeroam971  Рік тому

      Uhaul doesn't provide any sort of Navigation system. their trucks don't have a screen in them either. You will need to use your smartphone and your favorite maps app. Keep in mind that map apps on your smartphone don't know you are in a large moving truck and may send you down roads you shouldn't be on. It happened to me twice on my cross country trip.

    • @infdox9051
      @infdox9051 Рік тому

      @@camphikeroam971 I also discovered there is no SafeMove+ insurance offered in my area (Uhaul's Indian rep lied that Road Assistance product is the same while adding it without my permission). So overhead damage cannot be covered. Anything happens, you are always wrong and the oligarch is always right!

    What is the height clearance for this truck?

    • @camphikeroam971
      @camphikeroam971  8 місяців тому

      The height of this 15 foot truck is 11 feet 0 inches. if you are renting a different size truck look for a yellow sticker that tells what the height is.

    At 79 cents per mile, what you pay total?

    • @camphikeroam971
      @camphikeroam971  Рік тому +2

      I drove 3080 miles on this trip and spent $1206 in gas. Fuel was much cheaper on the North East where I started. It got gradually more expensive was I drove West. Most expensive gas was at my destination in Arizona.

    Did you have to go through tolls? If so, how did you pay the toll for the uhaul?

    • @camphikeroam971
      @camphikeroam971  Рік тому

      I did when I was driving through the North Eastern States. I had to carefully plan my route to avoid some of them. There are two types; the old school toll booth where you pay cash and the new automated ones where you need a transponder device in your vehicle. U-Haul does not provide the transponder devices as they can vary from state to state. It's a pain, but do research ahead of time to avoid the automated tool roads and use ones that still allow cash. if you do go on the automated ones, it will take of pic of the trucks license plate and U-Haul will send you a bill eventually for the toll and a hefty fee.

    rental fee ?

    • @camphikeroam971
      @camphikeroam971  11 місяців тому

      The truck cost $1865 to rent for a cross country trip (Maine to Arizona). This included the $155 Safe Move insurance incase something happened (which it didn't). It came with a 10 day and 3346 mileage allowance with a pretty steep charge for miles driven above that. I returned the truck in 8 days with 3107 miles on it.

      That’s just your opinion. In fact newer trucks are equipped with lots of tech. Some semis have adaptive cruise control, 12.3 inch TFT digital gauge, digital side mirrors. Don’t know what your comment was about…
