    low light solution to using an acog that has dead tritium: glowsticks. tiny glowsticks taped on top of the fiberoptic. Of course you block some of the fire optic to not let in too much light. And you tape off the glow stick so it doesn't light the surroundings and give away your position. I use mini glowsticks that are no more than 3/4 inch in length.

      Great tip.
      If Acog is less than 15 yo..
      They will replace the tritium, that's the word on the street anyway. Free.
      Maybe that has changed with Biden inflation.

    Trijicon is vague about how the reticle in this is calibrated. It is not the same reticle as the TA31F. The only thing they say is its calibrated for a flat top M4 with 5.56. I did some playing around with Strelok and found out it's the same reticle as the RCO-M4, just with a horseshoe. What ammo do you shoot with this, and has the reticle been accurate at the ranges on the BDC?

    • @HK-qj4im
      @HK-qj4im Рік тому

      Idk the answer to your question..buy my two cents is choose what your ammo is..then practice. Learn how it shoots. I really like the Hornady 75 gr.
      Been shooting that for a long time. It's better than I am...I am the weak spot in the system.
      IMI Would be another choice if that's available.
      Starting a log book is always the best idea.
      Things I did 10 years ago...I probably forgot. Why relearn what you already did?

    I have near 20 Acogs and dude you should change the mount on all models to a QD mount the standard mount always comes loose and don't' use anything stronger than blue loctite. I like my Elcans better though in the Army these Acogs would always come loose so dudes are always torquing em out of habit.
    Been shooting and collecting for 30+yrs optics always change the original Acog's sucked and no they do not last forever no optic does.I would say get an red dot with a magnifier if on a budget the eotech today are quality sites same as aimpoints or trijicons red dots or if you can afford it an Elcan my favorite optic I own 5 and nothing beats 1-4x over $2k but the cheapest of the variable zoom optics etc. These Acogs are for medium range shooting even my 6x is not a long range optic. Good for range use, hunting or warfare BUT horrible for home defense use a 1x reflex site for those uses like Trijicon red dots, Eotechs, Sig's, or Aimpoint etc.
    Many to choose from its unless you put a reflex site on your Acog but the height and weight comes into play. Whatever optic you buy try one out 1st many guns shops with ranges will let you demo one. If you buy online like from Optics planet or Midway etc 30-90 no questions asked return policy so if ya don't like just return it. But beware some stores have a once you mount it its non refundable and some have a restocking fee. But optics planet I never have problems there bought nearly 60 optics over the years there.
    Pardon the rant just love all optics except maybe mepros ; )

    Looking to get an ACOG either the TA31H or TA31HG (red or green / horseshoe)
    Which is better to see? The red or green? And is the green so bright that it obstructs the view of the target?
    Thanks.

    • @TheArmedScotsman
      @TheArmedScotsman  3 роки тому +3

      All comes down to personal preference. At night the green tritium def seems brighter to me. I just used the TA51 with the green horse shoe on Sunday at an outdoor 600 yard range. I didn't have any issues with seeing the targets with the reticle.

    Aurora Acss Acog is the shit both my primary and back up rifle have these along with offset red dots and the set of is nearly bomb proof and phenomenally clear glass.
    Both use an adm mount and ideally a cantileaver mount with either an adm or arisaka defense thirty three degree offset mount for a delts point pro aimpoint arco or trijicion type two rmr or sro Or sn MRO green dot or he Holosun five zero three elite on a t one offset mount given the green reticle on the acog needs a green Dot given transitions green to red is beyond annoying and I immediacy picked up another optic

      I wish the cantileaver mounters were not back ordered six months but preordered one within three days of being available direct snd scored the other on sale from optics planet for three figures which I couldn’t pass up that deal. For a zero to five hundred yard rifle saving a lb to one n a half lbs over a thirty four mm one to eight is well worth the trade off imo. I’m an Acss whore as my six five Grendel just got the two n a half to ten GLx4 gold series ffp with the Acss Griffin Mil reticle which I could recommend either optic enough for a spr or dmr type Rifle.
      Great video n glad I found your channel.

    • @TheSundayShooter
      @TheSundayShooter Рік тому +1

      @@stantheman3292 I love my 4x ACOG, but let's consider the facts in descending order:
      1. The TA01/TA02/TA31 are NTCH optics, which's a real PITA and shoving them to the rear obstructs the charging handle
      2. If you're using NOD's, only the TA02 has the threaded lugs to install an RMR forward, the TA01/TA31 are susceptible to collision
      3. These optics leave the factory with scuffs! This man has some 3:06 on both sides near the raised lettering, the mount's laser engraving on mine looks like strikethrough text (-Trijicon-), and there'll always be something on the objective lens that you can't wipe off! These might be purely cosmetic issues with no impact on glass clarity nor function, but it's a real insult to receive what looks like a used optic after spending over 1,000 Yankee dollars for a retail unit
      4. They don't have _JN__8:12_ in raised lettering anymore, it's just cheaply lasered engraved 2:12 way below the UID. The reference is also unrelated to battle and should be replaced with Psalm 144:1
