  • In this video I explain how to break down a bank fishing spot fast with a bobber. I've used this method for years in tons of different lake with massive success!

    If you take a straw (one you use for fountain drinks), cut them in half, then seal off both ends using a lighter, it's a highly effective bobber for panfish. They just don't detect it. Luke from catfish and carp did a video on it and I've been using that method ever since. Works great.
    Very good information on this video.

      how do you strap them to your line?

    • @earthcoolsoncemore
      @earthcoolsoncemore 4 роки тому

      @@Francois_Dupont the way I do it is I first seal one side of the straw using a lighter, then insert a splitshot into the straw on the other end and push it in about an inch, then about a half and inch, next to the split shot I inserted, I fold the straw using very thin needle nose pliers and expose just enough to melt enough to make a seal. Now you'll have about 1/4 of an inch left for you to thread your hook and line through that doesn't need to be sealed.

    • @Francois_Dupont
      @Francois_Dupont 4 роки тому

      @@earthcoolsoncemore i think i will seal both ends with pliers and pierce one of the sealed end to make a hole for the line to act as a bottom hole slip float. like these (porcupine quill float) s1.bukalapak.com/img/6549877313/s-400-400/Kukumbul_Umbul_Umbul_Pelampung_Pancing_10_cm.jpg but instead of a corded loop a simple hole in the straw.

    Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.

    Thank you for explaining clearly and for fishing from shore instead of from a $30,000 boat with 1/2 of Silicon Valley installed. Micro-jig = 1/64? 1/80? I am a new subscriber.

    Made in the USA lifetime warranty. Those are some beautiful floats. I recently found a few and bought a few.
    The notch on top of the float is a hook remover. At least on the glow in the dark model. The rest are just real nice floats.

    I have appreciated what you, and all the UA-cam "professionals" have taught me. I've been inspired to go out fishing again for the first time in decades.
    I just spooled my Pflueger President 2500 reel - I was shocked at how tiny this one is, and people are talking about 1000 and even 500 size reels. A 500 size reel must use a thimble for the spool.
    I bought some 1/32 oz jig heads, and guys are talking about 1/64, 1/80 and 1 guy even talked about a 1/100 oz jig head. I feel like I am the Jolly Green Giant out throwing meat hooks trying to fish.
    Am I way too big for bluegill ?? Do I need to find nano equipment ??
    Keep up the great work !! Your efforts are appreciated.

      Just listen to Nick and watch his videos, he's very experienced and I would hold his advice above most anyone, and also you don't need to go any lighter than 1/32 in my honest opinion. Happy Fishing 🎣🎣👍

    This is my first of your videos, and I want to say before I move on, thank you for the explanation of all the different rigs. I am so a novice, and onlu fish bobber and worm, cricket type setups. I have a 30 year old rod and reel probably should replace that, but I really want to learn how to move forward and get our catching more. Thank you for you time.

    *These are easy to use and highly visible **enjoyable.fishing** recommend they are extremely valuable for going from a dead drift set up to a float setup. They save time and you don't have to re-tie everything to add a float to your presentation.*

    Just found your channel and am loving it so far. I'm not sure if you answer questions in the comments but I'll ask anyway. I never thought I'd really enjoy fishing ultralight so I just got an 18$ combo from walmart and I want to upgrade because I found it to be really fun and it... feels like an 18$ combo. It's a 5' rod which I feel is too short and have been using 4lb test with a reel that takes 140 yards of it so I'm assuming it's a 1000 and not a 500? What rod length and reel size would you recommend? I was thinking about 6'6'' but don't know if that's too long and I heard that 500 reels have shorter casting distance and more line issues like the line forming a spring like memory etc was so thinking 1000? Right now I mostly fish open water but was thinking about checking out some streams and rivers where the banks are kind of cleared up and not cluttered with trees and bushes. I'm not going "all out" on an ultralight combo just better than the garbage walmart one I have now. The rod I was looking at was OKUMA Celilo Graphite Lightweight Ultra Light Trout Rod which comes in 5'6, 6' and 6'6'' with the only difference being .1 oz increase in weight but the 6'6'' one comes with an extra guide and the reel was the Shimano Sienna 500/1000. I think the difference in weight is around 1.5oz and the 1000 gives you an extra 40 yards of 4lb line. Any help would be great so thanks in advance.

    How do you set the hook with a float? I always miss whenever I use the float. I try and reel the slack line, but the bluegill drops it. When I only set the hook, the bluegill drops it.

    Here saltwater fishing in Texas jetty. I can tell what biting my shrimp under a float. Float moving straight down is sheepshead. Float running sideways on top of the water is Spanish mackerel. Float goes down but come back up then goes down again side way is spotted trout. Float goes down and up nonstop is small pin fish

    Is the micro jig (Whip'r Snap) 1/32 or 1/64 size? Also, which size (1/32 or 1/64) do you think would get more bites? I'm a beginner and fish in Michigan. Looking forward to trying these techniques for panfish, crappie. Thanks.

    what if you put the weight below the hook will the bobber respond if a fish grab it? my best day at castaic(small smallmouth 2 striper and one big largemouth) from the banks was with a micro jig and fixed bobber about foot up. even the big fish like the micro jig.
