If they keep Satori Mountain in the sequel, then I could see the Lord of the Mountain staying in the game as the two are linked. But I don’t think they will keep building on what is originally intended as a dedication to Iwata. Like the secret Flog game in the Switch, it loses some meaning when it’s no longer a secret.

It is well known that BotW 2 uses (almost) the same map as in the first BotW (I'm not sure),so it could be that it reappears in the same place in BotW 2.🤷‍♀️🤔 But it would be cool!

I feel that this sage most likely died long before the most recent calamity, as they speak of him being a sage as a legend. Since there were and are people still alive from 100 years past, someone could possibly have known and could confirm who Satori was. Maybe he had died in the battle 10,000 years before

Maybe the Blupees are animals that also died because of Ganon's monsters 100 years ago, the animals that Satori tried to protect and now they are collecting rupees to help him instead?

It's difficult to determine exactly how Satori died, but it's likely that his death came at the hands of the Hinox (now a Stallnox) that is located close to where Satori appears. The other "stall-monsters" are located much farther away near a separate peak of the mountain, and were likely killed by Satori as they were chasing him up the mountain. I also suspect that the Hinox was the one that dealt the fatal blow to Satori due to how the "Stallnox" bones are arranged/aligned. The bones appear to suggest that the Hinox they once belonged to perished by falling off the overlooking cliff close to the Shrine (also located on the mountain). With this in mind, we can start to piece to together what may have happened to Satori.
"Picture Satori as he rests beside a small campfire located at a lower elevation on the mountain. He suddenly hears what sounds like a band of monsters (with Hinox in tow) starting to make their way up the mountain. Unfortunately, the band of monsters spot Satori near his campsite (probably due to his small campfire giving off a pillar of smoke), and start to give chase as Satori tries to flee. The monsters follow Satori to the smaller peak of the mountain as Satori ducks between the large rocks. As the monsters make their way over to the large rocks, Satori climbs the rocks while keeping out of sight, and then ambushes the Bokoblins, Lizalfos, and Moblins in quick succession. Unfortunately, Satori is wounded from this encounter, and is quickly spotted by the remaining Hinox before he has time to catch his breath and treat his wounds. Satori runs further up the mountain, but the Hinox gives chase. Upon reaching the small pool at the summit (located beneath the cherry blossom tree), Satori meets some of his small animal friends who decided to take shelter there. The reunion is short lived as the Hinox arrives not more than a moment later, and an epic battle between Satori and the Hinox ensues. Satori fights with all his strength, and manages to impale the beast with two of his three large weapons, but is inevitably wounded by a massive blow from a tree trunk that the Hinox somehow got his dirty hands on. Crippled, Satori tries desperately to escape the Hinox again by ducking between the large rocks that make up the mountain's highest peak. The Hinox, being large in size, cannot fit between the rocks, but makes his way around them instead in an attempt to catch Satori on the other side. As Satori emerges from between the rocks, he spots the Hinox making its way around the outside, and realizes that this is the end for him. With his last remaining strength, Satori runs over to the near-by cliff as the Hinox give chase. With his back to the cliff and the Hinox barreling in on him, Satori hurls his last remaining weapon (a Gerudo Long Sword) at the beast's ginormous eye. Blinded by the hit, the Hinox howls in pain, but it's not enough to stop the beast from plowing into Satori as both of their battered bodies tumble off the edge of the cliff to their inevitable deaths! The animals, saddened by the loss of their great protector, gathered around Satori's lifeless body, and began to carry him back up to the mountain's summit. It's here that the animals lay Satori's body to rest beneath the large cherry blossom tree so that he may forever be remembered for his heroic sacrifice! That is why, to this day, animals can be seen gathering at Satori Mountain's summit, so that they will never forget their friend and what took place so very long ago!"
Strangely enough, there is evidence of this story taking place! We have the abandoned campsite near the base of Satori Mountain, the "stall-monsters" located near the lower peak, the Korok seed / yellow flower puzzle that begins between the large rocks at the upper peak of the mountain and ends at the rocky cliff overlooking the "Stallnox" bones, and (of course) the Stallnox himself. Notice how the "Stallnox" has only 2 weapons embedded in his frame, while the Gerudo Long Sword is located beneath his resting position!

    • @tomdekler9280
      @tomdekler9280 4 роки тому +7

I hate to dismiss your long, long story, but the video itself shows the much more likely culprit; a Stallizalfos that actually rests at the very peak of the mountain, underneath that cherry blossom tree.
It makes perfect sense that the monsters would only climb the mountain as far as necessary for the siege. So I would argue that the only one who managed to make it to the top did so for a reason, namely to kill the sage.
If Satori died to the Stalhinox, the placement of the Stallizalfos way, way above every other enemy would be unexplained.
Note this one Stallizalfos is carrying a reinforced Lizal bow with shock arrows; a seriously lethal enemy if you're standing in a shallow pool of water, which is where the Lord of the Mountain always respawns.

I believe the reason why there are no more rupees in the grass anymore isn’t because the bluepees keep on taking them butbecause the Minish from the Minish Cap have died. We know from the game that they’re the people who spread the the rupees in the grass throughout almost all in the Zelda series expect Breath of the Wild where you can’t find a single one. They could have died because they couldn’t sustain them selves in between the GOD knows how long gap between the Minish Cap and Breath of the Wild or they were to weak to survive the great calamity and were entirely killed. If the second theory is true perhaps Ganon sent his monsters to kill them out of blood thirsty rage because of the Minish’s connection to the royal family.
Anyway sorry for my unrelated rambling :) I seriously need to make my own Zelda channel
    Fantastic video as always 👌

I think the Minish are still alive but you can't find rupees because the blupees takes it all.
Minish ever survived to the world flooded of WW so they have their recurses and like anyone remember them (in zelda's canon) they shouldn't have so much troubles to hide in the calamity and prosper later like usually.
Edit: Some fatal gramatical errors fixed

The No.1 Guy wait a minute rupees are under rocks!? Wow I’ve been playing Breath of the Wild for like 500 hours and I’ve never noticed that. I guess that alone debunked my argument. However I still like to believe that Ganondorf would have targeted the Minish not out of a master plan but because they help the royal family that he despises and that alone is enough to motivate “Hatred and Malice Incarnate”. Hence why I also think he would have targeted the occa from Twilight Princess to if he could reach them.
But in retrospect destroying them would be hard because of what you said about them being able to hide easily and like the koroks only link and children can see them.
Also the great dekue tree and koroks can be harmed as seen in the Wind Waker but because of the majic surrounding the Forrest. But I do agree that there wasn’t enough time to completely destroy the Minish in one day. But really thanks for the feed back it’s important for my channel I want to make so constructive criticism is really helpful.
Edit: I also mentioned that maybe the Minish have just died from other natural causes but I guess the rupees under the rock thing also disproves that idea too

Just to add, "悟り(satori)" means "enlightenment" in Japanese, so it would sort of make sense for his element to have been light, or just plain wisdom of some sort.

    • @tomdekler9280
      @tomdekler9280 4 роки тому +1

That wordplay of "enlightenment = light" only works in english.
And to have a sage, literally a wise one, represent wisdom, feels like kind of a nobrainer.
I think the fact his name translates to enlightenment is just there to hammer down on the fact he's a sage, not to indicate what "sage element" he'd have.

I love the idea of a blupee cult tbh its awesome really imagine being a traveler and you come across it like
~you hold your sword steady in your hands as you bash the skull in of a stalfos, then suddenly a glowing blue fog rushes into the mountains, you crouch behind a cherry blossom tree afraid of another enemy approaching-one much more powerful by the looks of it- when suddenly you hear faint clinging of rupees bashing together. You peer from around the corner to see hundreds of blupees throwing rupees into a shallow pond. To your surprise a light eminates from the pond to form a-horse?- it looked like something you had never seen before in your travels. The "horse" turned to you revealing it had the head of a blupee. Then, ...it charged at you, you ran down the mountain at a speed you didn't even know you could reach before coming to a stable and staying there. Today as you were speaking to a fellow hylian a young man rode up to the stable on the -thing- you saw in the mountains. You now wait for that man to return to ask questions about the thing in hopes of discovering what it is.~

Intriguing theory, but using currency to revive a sage, it doesn't sit well with me.
I heard rabbits went extinct in Zelda due to overhunting. Quite fitting for Satori to be surrounded by rabbit-like creatures. And the greed of taking rupees by attacking them is synonymous with the greed of overhunting.

  • @tomdekler9280

AAAAAAAAGH I'M SO FRUSTRATED I'M not the only one who reached this conclusion.
I made a thread about it back in october 2019 on the Zelda Universe forums, including the Stalizalfos archer theory for the whodunnit, the rupees for the blupee ceremony, and the coupling of both animals and plant life as being significantly more plentiful on the mountain.
There's ONE theory of mine I haven't seen anywhere else yet, and I don't know if it's anywhere near as good, but it clicks in _my_ head.
As Rauru's owl status is mentioned, we can look back at Skyward Sword, where we have Headmaster Gaepora who has traits of both man and owl.
The other two teachers at the academy, Owlan and Horwell, also feature an owl theme. Owlan specializes in collecting plant life, while Horwell's specialty lies in animals.
Both have distinct long hair with two long sidelocks in front of their ears, while the Lord of the Mountain appears to be two Blupee heads with similarly long sidelocks, two meeting in the middle to give the illusion of a beard.
Considering the duality of Satori Mountain being filled with both an abundance of plant life (almost every type in the game) and animal life, and the fact that the Lord of the Mountain seemingly has two faces...
I feel like if Kaepora was meant to be some sort of match between Rauru and Kaepora Gaebora, I think Satori might similarly have been influenced in its design or theming by Owlan and Horwell, and I'm fairly certain that Satori's original form may have looked fairly similar to either one of them.
    I'm not done yet.
Owlan and Horwell, by stature and features, appear to have been modelled after the Rito in the Wind Waker.
I feel that tidbit, along with the general bird motif of all involved parties, opens up the possibility that Satori could've been a Rito, based on a barn owl (like the Blupees), with features similar to Owlan and Horwell.
That having been said, the plethora of farming tools that Rito aren't seen using scattered along Satori Mountain may prove that particular point false.
Last but not least, the idea of a farming man with long sidelocks and possibly a beard reminds me more of Reede, mayor of Hateno, than Botrick. Maybe a distant relative?

That would explain why Ganon only sent monsters, and not Guardians (which would have been more fitting since he would've used technology to take down nature)

What about the Sage Temple Ruins? They are located just East of Satori Mountain.
Sanidin Park Ruins are another reference to animals with the horse statue being prominently featured.
Also, I'd theorise that Blupees are spawned from the Lord of the Mountain due to their similar appearance.
They act as his children/servants who bring him rupees.

So I have thoughts and I'm just gonna spew this essay into the UA-cam void real quick:
I was def hoping this video would speculate on the fact that Ganon's gone around murdering sages before. In WW he murdered two sages to de-power the Master Sword and make way for his return.
In this context, BOTW Ganon was trying to return to Hyrule again, but the Master Sword's already weakened/in hibernation. So was this just like proactive murder just in case Satori was super powerful or did he serve some specific purpose that Ganon needed out of the way? (Maaaaaaybe Satori was buffing up Princess Zelda a la end-of-OOT? Sages primarily just seal Ganon, so it's possible Satori had a hand in keeping Ganon at bay for 100 years.)
And THEN I'm wondering if Ganon sort of failed in his murder-mission because the Blupees keep resurrecting Satori, and he has become an all-powerful spirit sage horse. He obviously regularly emits a huge amount of power from his mountain now, so get rekt Ganon.
Also.....if Satori's a sage, who are the other 6 sages in BOTW and why weren't they awakened? It's not a reach to say the 4 champions are sages and got murdered early (but then....where's the sageliness??) and obviously Zelda's a sage. But there's 1 more sage to track down in BOTW.
We have a sage of time (Zelda), spirit (Urbosa/Riju), fire (Daruk/Yunobo), water (Mipha/Sidon), earth (Revali/Teba), wind-or-light-or-forest* (Satori/Undead Satori)....so we're missing maybe a forest or shadow sage? Maybe Impa's the final sage? Or one of the Koroks? Maybe the King is a sage, since he had a pivotal role in BOTW and sort of resembled Rauru in both appearance and function? Who knows lol.
*Satori could be a successor to Rauru, or the kokiri, OR the koroks. Since we have rito and koroks in this game, it's reasonable to assume the sage succession would be for the Wind Sage spirit as opposed to forest, which just doesn't make as much sense as him being the sage of light. If we're going with him as the light sage, I'd like to think the 7th BOTW sage is Impa, since the Sheikah are so much more prominent in this game than in previous installments. If Satori IS the Sage of Wind for some reason, then the King would be our Light Sage of BOTW (which has its own line of sense.)
Anyway thanks for coming to my TED Talk I just had a bunch of notes on this video lmao
Edit: And one MORE thing! Yeah, Satori has an owl face, but that also really closely resembles the Twilight Princess sage masks. Which is my only memory of other "non-living" spirit sages appearing in the franchise.

I think the Sages can change representation from age to age similar to how the hero can be the hero of Winds, Time, or Wild.
There are seven Sages but the element is more of a unique title rather than a position.

MNB, you've got to do a few theory videos on the Minish Cap. The deeper you get into the story, the more confusing the lore gets compared to Skyward Sword. Also, I'd like to know if there actually is a connection between the Kokori, Picori and/or Kikwi. (Remember the one Kikwi taken to Skyloft before you answer that lol)

I like this theory, but I don't think that the Lord of the Mountain needs rupees to return since it seems to vanish and reappear as it sees fit. I think that the Blupees actually recieve rupees from Satori and travel to certain areas where someonecan get them. You can't kill them but they do drop rupees when hit. Maybe it's like a "you have to earn it" kinda thing? Also, one of the Blupees is found near a Great Fairy Fountain, so maybe there is a connection there. I think that Satori just appears on the Mountain to check up on it and to give money to the Blupees and they can spread those rupees across the land.

My theory about Satori is that, yes, he was a Sage, and he was killed while protecting the inhabitants of the mountains, but as he was beginning to succumb to his wounds, the Blupees came along and they l, along with the goddesses' help, saved his life by turning him into what he is today so he could continue his duty as the land's protector. However, even though he is very powerful, he does get injured with each battle so he returns to the mountain to heal his wounds. The Blupees that saved him are his scouts to make sure no one is harming the wildlife and they all return to the mountain to rest before setting out again.

That does not invalidate your point though.
It's even kind of charming: Either even the Blupees can't manage to find all of the rupees in Hyrule or they simply won't bother with that one rupee when they are already carrying a lot of them.

I don’t think blupees collect rupees to revive or bring back satori, because if they already brought back satori wouldn’t meen that they use all of the rupees? Or perhaps those rupees where the change for purchasing satori a moments to came back
