If your icons go back to where they were previously, then do this. Go into Settings - Personalizations - Themes- Desktop Icons Settings. If the box is checked " Allow themes to change desktop icons ", uncheck, hit apply. Hope this helps.
@@cindysuitor1897 Combine the video information, and this comments information, then customize the icon (move it around to where you want,). Another thing is that disabling "snap to grid" may actually be a a bad thing so keep that on, but that is optional, if it works.
Thanks! Great tip....just what I was looking for as my computer just went "auto align" and messed me up. I checked through 3 tutorials which were not in the least bit addressing this issue....then you came a long. Clear and concise.
I've understood this but when I rearrange my icons where I want them, whenever I restart my computer they go back to where they were previously. I even did a refresh. What's up with that?

I thin this is a bug that happens in Windows 10 (not the home vers.) but doesn't happen in Windows 10 Home. I didn't have this problem until I reinstalled Windows and used the non home version. It is driving me nuts!!!!
But what if my desktop pictures are not previewing in the row I placed them on desktop? For example there are pictures named 1,2,3,4 etc. in a horizontal row,and then I click number one and it opens it normally, but when i then click to move to the next picture in row (it should be picture 2),it moves to number 4 for example,so there is no order in previewing that I wanted and arranged on desktop...How to fix that?
Curious came across your video. Was talking to a guy that had a problem he wanted to position the icons in random place on his desktop. But make them fix so they lock/dont move /cannt be dragged /stay fix to the position they where initially placed at. Is there a registry key or a windows settings for locking a icon at a particular spot onced moved there/decide that its the final destination they want the icon at???
But, new icons they are placed to the left. Behind my left window. I need to minimize that window to get to the icon. Are there any way to make windows put the icons to the right?
Yeah except when I select multiple icons in a rectangle (to put them horizontally) it keeps rearranging them the most vertically possible. Like if I select and move a group of icons from different "cases" they're now all in the same straight vertical line. What can I do ? I've been searching on the internet for hours and no one talks about this. Please help.
This video was very helpful! I was able to arrange my icons the way I needed them. However, my laptop automatically auto arranged and aligned icons to grid after I re started my laptop, so I am now back to square one. Is there anything I can do to avoid this? Thank you!
I have a problem when i start up a game and its not in native res the icons just get grouped normaly they would go back to the original position where i put them but it doesnt for me it stays grouped and every time i play a game i have to do it over and over again is there a fix for this
That's fine BUT how do you make sure they stay there once you shutdown your computer and the next day you fire back up your computer and they are back to the way you don't want them to be? In other words how do you save it?
how can i do the same but in a folder ? I have a folder with game shortcuts - about 20 pcs. I want The Witcher 3 to be first and Dirt2 to be the second one... what to do ? I tried to add a comment and sort by comment, but its sorst everything differently . I wrote number 1 to The witcher 3 and number 2 to Dirt2.
