This man is one of the best composers of all time. He wrote the foolish heart with steve perry, sad to belong, you needed me, bluer than blue and other famous and beautiful songs, with beautiful lyrics and beautiful melody. Songwriters like him deserves more appreciation, we should not just focus on the singers. But on the other hand, he is also a great singer.
England Dan & John Ford Colry recorded this first but was rushed to move on to do soundtrack work so it was not released as a single. 'What's Forever For' was on the same LP and suffered the same fate and was later made popular by Michael Martin Murphey (after the name change)
First heard this one at age 15, covered in Cantonese by Alan Tam. Song released in the 80s in Hong Kong as "Cheng Bat Bin (Love Doesn't Change)" Check it out!

Burt Bacharach doesn't have a beautiful voice but he can make music & made millions of money. same thing with randy here & he can play that piano excellently. no pun intended.

Love when a songwriter performs their own song.... nicely done.
Those piano chord shapes are amazing, so much feeling.
Among the top tunesmiths the world will ever know.
Full-on emotion. That's what singing is all about.
Is this the same Randy Goodrum who worked with Steve Perry on his solo album in 1984? I don't think I ever saw him perform. What great talent!
yes.
this version hits different... gold
I really love this song, that’s why i made a cover of it just for souvenir of mine.

Great song writing. But as a singer, Goodrum makes a pretty good composer. But still nice to hear the maker do his own songs.
Was that Michael Johnson beside him?
yes
