    For battery terminal cleaning use baking soda and water rinse with distilled water. Apply a coat of hefty grease on the positive terminal.

      We always used grease on both terminals but not too much, the Ford place painted the battery clamps after installing them but a small amount of grease should do the trick. 73

    Hi Mike. Great video as usual. I seem to remember that petroleum jelly (vaseline) smeared over battery terminals would keep the corrosion down. Hot water should remove it first.

    Hi, on one of your previous videos you wanted info on what to with rubbish + bags. I have no idea what U.S campsites are like but we hang the bags on a hook at the back of our caravan + walk to the rubbish area + dump it, or when we leave dump it off at a shpping area. Saw your hook for your cap, we had 2 in our teardrop ( bushcamp offroad ) it was,nt enough because I used to have my keys + watch on mine which I had to move to the cupholder to make room for my clothes. Well after a lot of inconvenience + yrs I asked my salesman in Arnhem to put in an extra 4. 3 for me + 1 for the wife. So I have more than enough room for my things. We have folding hooks which I thought was a pretty good idea. I also got him to put 4 mini hooks near the roof so I could put up a bagage net because when I,m finished with my reading pillow I can store it up there out of the way. It also doubles as a sort of barrier to stop things falling out of the top shelves if we happen to hit a bump in the road. Roy.

    OMG where have you been all my life? If you weren't already married (and a man, duh) I would propose to you right now. You can't imagine how many trailer videos I have seen just trying to glean this info. I think I could probably pass the welders exam from all the trailer videos I have watched where half the video is about welding the frame. I'm not a welder nor plan on taking it up. If you look at my profile pic you'll see me standing next to a hotdog cart that I built from scratch on a Harbor Freight kit trailer for under 2 grand. So I figured I could do it again for the camper I want. I just needed parts and material sources. You nailed it my friend. Took me an hour because I kept stopping to take notes but it was well worth it. Straight dope with no B.S. as it should be. I have a 50" and Blue Ray if I want entertainment (not that you weren't entertaining). Great info Thanks for that, as for corrosion on your battery terminal try using baking soda and vinegar that will clean it up quick. The corrosion may be caused by a bad ground somewhere down the line, or bunch of things like overcharging, leaking or cracked battery ect.. I'm sure you have googled it. I use a dielectric grease or just vaseline .

    just came across your channel, very nice, well done, immense source of info, thank you. Regarding Battery post sulfatation or corrosion, I have had very good results applying either 'Corrosion Block' from Lear Chemical (almost magical!) as well as 'Fluid Film' on a clean and recently assembled battery post & clamp or screwed down terminals, specially in a warm and salty marine environment. If none of these at hand, a thin coat of Vaseline does help as well.

    That is good design for the core, insulation, and sheathing. That is the ideal i have for my camper i am designing, using plywood as a frame but cutting it out to make it lighter and use ridged foam board in those cutouts with 1/8" wood paneling or maybe 1/4" plywood on the inside glued to the foam and plywood frame, with 1/8" on the outside glued to the frame and foam. I was also thinking of trying another layer of foam over the entire outside, before the last layer of 1/8" wood but it would be glued(laminated) on with the rest of the layers. And then possibly if it is still light enough add a layer of fiberglass on the very last outside layer.

    What a great explanation of all the work you put into this beautiful camper! You have suggestions for everyone! Your Camp-EZ is one of the best I've seen, Michael.
    Chris and I finally got our second vaccine and can now travel to see our children and grandchildren that live in Texas. It's been a whole year... We would have normally been there 3 or 4 times and they travel here too. So it's been too long! We are going to camp our way down and planned our camping as close to our route as possible. Edgar Evins just happened to be right along our route and when I looked at the campsites, I told Chris that they looked really familiar... Then I remembered "We camped on a Porch" instagram photo and your episode of Camp and Camera ... That was a fun discovery! Of course we had to watch that episode again! If this trip goes well, it might be fun to travel south again when fall is fading here in the northeast. If we do that, I'll ask if you're having a fall teardrop meetup. =)

    I do a lot of solar install sand repairs, particularly with battery corrosion problems. After cleaning your terminals off the best you can, coat them with a THIN layer of a product called "BattCoat". It will not only prevent further corrosion, it will actually clean up and brighten the battery posts and cable ends to near newness...

    Good info Michael. I am not sure if the corrosion is caused by this, but it is possible. You probably know I am a avid proponent of venting battery storage areas. The AGM ones will offgas if overcharged. If offgassing happens, your electronics could be at risk too. I have my little AGM in a vented box from RVupgrades (I think it is MTS brand). My battery is also in the tongue box. It is simple to install - but the vent hose is a small annoyance to accessing the other items in the storage box. Just a thought.

    Michael - your videos and insights have been invaluable - thanks! Two Questions - 1. You have a link or brand on the external light above your door you use, and does it have a switch directly on it? 2. The Shore power connector 30 amp, is the Marine/RV male; do most sites use this special plug vs the standard indoor like config? Trying to figure out if I put one of these or the standard pins (and then get a pig tail adapter) All the best, Gus

      @CampandCamera  2 роки тому

      Hey there! If memory serves correct, I bought the light on eBay by searching black oval RV porch light. The plug I use is male. It accepts a female standard extension cord. I just run my teardrop off a standard 120V outlet at the shore power post at campgrounds.

    I've had luck cleaning the terminal with baking soda and an old brush. CRC makes a battery terminal protector in a spray can. One can will last your life. So far I think it's been worth it.

    To clean the battery use baking soda and water pour it on and let it work then when it's clean put on some corrosion spray on to keep it from happening next time.

    The wood in the cabinet looks great. For me carpentry looks better when you get a couple different colors of wood offsetting each other, looks like higher quality and more elegant and organic, and anyway the cabinets look great.

    Just a notice for everyone buying electronic parts ( switches, fuses, etc.) You can get quality parts from a real supplier like digikey, mouser, arrow. The websites .have all the specs listed and most importantly you are not buying questionable fire prone crap from China. Sometimes the parts are the same price or slightly cheaper depending on what you are searching for

    How long does the 5 lb propane tank last? I have a 17” blackstone griddle and two burner coleman stove with a splitter at the tank . I’m looking at the 11lb tank because the 20 is just bulky but i griddle everything every meal and don’t want to run out. Thanks

    • @CampandCamera
      @CampandCamera  3 роки тому +1

      In our particular install, we only use it for a 2 burner cooktop. We use it multiple times each trip though. One year of use, and and it only took 1/3 of a tank to refill it.

    pour coca cola on the corrosion or mix a little bit of baking soda and water to make a paste to put on it with an old toothbrush or something.

      Take terminal off post. Pour cola (soda) over both parts. Clean w toothbrush. Any cola product will work then apply petroleum jelly
      Check all your grounds. Common cause and over charge!

    I got my wheel well tool boxes for my 2001 f150 truck they are very durable and love them and use the cup holders they have on the lids all the time however they did not come with all the mounting hardware so I had to make some brackets and a hinge rod for one.
    btw I noticed you did not have tailgate assist struts on your f150 I just installed one on my f150's tailgate really helps me with closing my tailgate and it cushions it when you lower it got it from amazon for $20.00 came with everything to do a similar to factory install

Are there plans or some type of directions on the TNTT site that will help me build my door. I need the door and frame pretty straight forward it needs to be 22 inches wide by 5 ft. tall. A basic rectangle no window nothing fancy! I want it to be pretty much aluminum so I will need source for material. Or is there someone in your community that builds doors?
