I'm embarrassed for the defense that this was the best they could come up with. The prosecution must have been sitting there salivating the more this guy rambled on about nonsense.
There seemed to be many restrictions and he struggled not to say things he wasn’t suppose to say and then some questions just needed “Yes” or “No” but instead he explains his opinion which isn’t necessary.
I hope the family is pleased with how their "support" funds have been spent. One who supports the states position that the pipe never came off the truck.
I just dropped my teeth when the expert for the defense on cross stated he didn't believe the pipe didn't come off of a truck. Wtf!!! Where did he think the pipe came from? Then he further states that the autopsy diagram was incorrect compared to the photo while he was trying to explain that the pipe hit her head in three places that don't line up the way he is trying to force the scenario. Then he just ignores all the other injuries. But he does say that creepo couldn't hit his wife and break her nose while driving because the steering wheel would be in the way! That's just stupid!! I watched a guy beat a woman to a pulp while he was driving once while I followed him down the highway hoping the cops could find us before he killed the girl! Yeah that's not true. I've been punched by someone driving. He hit me a few times. I hit back, the car did end up mounting the corner of the sidewalk and burst a tyre, but his neck looked just like Todd's, almost exactly the same and on one side.
I don't know, so can someone inform me; who hires the expert witnesses? Are they hired by the state, or can each side hire their own experts? The reason I ask is because at least one of the "experts" seemed to be a family friend of the defense lawyer, which seems like an insult to the search for truth. Shouldn't experts be impartial, having absolutely zero connection to either defense or prosecutor?

Please respond, purely data gathering on my part. Thank you from a true trial junkie.
Melissa Miles I’ve not heard of this trial nor do I know the outcome. I play 13th juror with trials, and try to watch them with an open mind. At this point in this particular trial, I’m leaning toward “Not Guilty” but want to hear closing summaries before making up my mind.
I watched the police interrogations and then came to watch the trail to see how the jury came to the guilty verdict. I’m on day 5 part 2 obviously but if I’m a juror I have reasonable doubt as of right now. We will see when Todd gets on the stand and the closing summaries to see how I feel then. I am an integration junkie and if there isn’t a confession and I’m not getting a clear picture of guilty or not guilty I will watch the trails. I’m becoming a trail junkie tho.
I knew nothing about the case prior to watching this trial. I’ve found myself really wanting to believe Todd’s account of events. But no matter how many “excuses” or rationalizations I make for all the misstatements, conflicting evidence, injures etc etc, his version just does not make sense. I’m simply not buying the crushed throat, the scratches on her neck & Todd’s neck, Todd’s DNA under her nails & the skull injuries on the back of her head, all occurred from the pipe story. If I were a juror, I’d def wait to make a decision but as a casual observer, I’m leaving heavily towards guilt at this point.
What's the point? A jury is intentionally kept from hearing about the case from outside the courtroom, and even then they found him guilty of causing his wife's death.
My biggest questions are why wasn't the home processed for a supposed assault scene if they believed she was beaten before being in that car and of the car was the place they felt this was done one would think there would be far more evidence found inside. While I do believe so fast that he killed her I'm just left with the question of where and when. How could he have done this at the home while kids are home and nothing heard. Just too many open space nobody filed in by evidence in my mind. They spent more time and testing on the pipe nobody felt was the initial reason of death nor did they explain the where, why and how. One weird case and odd testimony of expert witnesses that to my mind didn't explain nothing we didn't already know.
I believe the defense should have made a computer animation to explain these injuries and other forensic evidence, ie. glass and blood location. These explanations are all reasonable, in my opinion.
I was wondering that too; why they didn't hire the same professionals that design car safety systems, as they use crash test dummies and highly advanced computer simulations to understand how the human body reacts in every conceivable scenario.
O.K. I just started watching the trial, but am I the only one thinking, "Hey, he swaps out windshields all the time. If anyone were going to come up with a plan for some kind of freak accident...involving a projectile coming through a windshield...yeah, IT WOULD LIKELY be someone who had this skill...to come up with such an idea. I wonder if the simple FACT that he did do this kind of work...may have been WHY this "freak accident" WAS questioned. If it was just seen as a "crime of opportunity" like he bashed her head in AFTER the freak thing with the pipe...WHY all the weirdness around where they were going, and her not having called in to say she was going to be late? I think some of the other injuries may have occured when he tried to.pull her out of the car. The car was on an incline and between holding it open and pulling her free, the door came back and hit her several times. I think at one point the door may have hit her skull on the back with extreme force.
