Lizzie Velasquez you should definitely get a chihuahua! They are the most loyal companions ever. They will sleep all day long with you if u want or sit in your lap wherever you are. They protect you and they have great hearing. And they weigh like 5 pounds which is perfect for u. Trust me every chi owner I've talked to is very happy with the loyalty of their dog

That's exciting news about the puppy, Lizzie. You said you were wondering how to start the process; I have a couple of suggestions. You've already determined the size of a pooch you could handle; that's a really good start. Other factors you should think about: Do you want a quiet dog, or one who is vocal (aka, one that barks a lot)? A puppy, a teenager or a senior? I know you said puppy in the video, but you might want to consider a teen or a senior canine companion. They will already have been trained, a huge plus. (I'm assuming here that you'll be adopting a rescued dog from a shelter or a foster home. Sorry if I'm wrong.) And a grown dog will be less energetic than a pup. Training a dog is hard work, labor intensive and there's no downtime. So you need to consider how much energy you'll realistically have to devote to your new friend. You also need to consider how independent the dog is. Will it cry and bark every time you leave it? Or will it just go find a nice spot to nap and watch the world go by. Do some research on breeds so you'll be able to make an informed decision about the pooch. Mixed breeds tend to live longer, which is another consideration. I know there are things I've forgotten, but these questions will help you whittle down your Wish List for what you want in your new friend-to-be. Good luck and have fun.
Puppies are very high maintenance and lots of work. Why not get a 2 yr old, already potty trained, past the puppy stage and you can find out the personality if you get it through a foster home who's already lived with it.
