Many of the Arab Caliphates had created copies and translated the information in arabic, and were kept in their own personal libraries in the Middle East. I highly recommend you look more into this event, as without their copies, that information really would have been lost for good.

I think the most interesting Lost Media case to me is The Fairylogues and Radio-Plays, the earliest known adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, made in 1908. It might be permanently lost given its age, and it being unknown if any copies other than what were used for showings were even made. Its only rumored that copies were made to be sold to collectors, but no proof exists afaik. It featured actors on stage as well as on screen, even apparently having a scene where Dorothy would be whisked from the stage to the screen by the tornado. It might even be the actual first film to feature a score, but I imagine without a copy floating around its impossible to verify it as fact. It could also be that its score was played live, at least i think it might've. if there was actors on stage, it could've had live music? It was a really costly production. Its really fascinating to me for some reason. It stays in the back of my mind. Even if the film is somehow found, we will never get the full experience. That is gone forever, I don't think they recorded the stage at all. Why would they need to back then? Its kind of a shame that such an experience is lost to time. I wonder how shocking it was to the audience? It apparently sold out even with doubled ticket prices, so it must have been incredible for the time.

I vividly remember seeing all of the walking dead alternative 7x01 death scenes on youtube during the summer before the premiere, some of them marketed as leaked "official" scenes for clickbait. Finally I can say I witnessed lost media with my own eyes.

The canceled sitcoms entry I believe was referring to the lost movie of Brad Jones (Cinema Snob) and not just canceled sitcom shows in general. To my knowledge, he lost the film when his landlord pawned his movie collection off because Brad's roommate at the time wasn't keeping his end of the rent in the apartment he was living in at the time

I was reminded of a couple of things that are lost media most likely such as the Canadian TV station YTV's pet flash game called Sidekicks that had special code bumpers in between and during airings of American and Japanese media and in CD jewel cases some of which unlocked themed cosmetics to popular shows.
In terms of researching advice for fighting game lost media, the podcast Triple KO has a 90 minute episode that highlights leaked unfinished games and genuine lost media including a 3D capcom game made by mostly 2D developers that used to work at SNK/Neo Geo.
I didn't watch the whole video yet, but there is an update for Dragon King, Sakurai in his latest video showed a recording of the game. Since the quality was good, I think we can assume the game is not completely lost.

I'm new to the lost media and the concept just blows my mind. I've been collecting data for my whole life and turns out people nowadays are doing the same. It's actually great to know that folks are trying to preserve history and info. I hope people from future generations will have a fun time exploring things that were created before they were born just like I do now. I have accumulated over 500,000 pictures over the years including art, photos, memes, animated gifs etc. One of the entries in this iceberg have Skyrim mods which I also have, tons of them. As well as mods and trainers for other older games. I've been collecting videos too. Animashes, edits, vines, YTPs, animated memes. I also have older versions of many programs and update files/patches. I collect photos of various merchandise, mostly related to vintage toy lines, games and Japanese titles, including comic book/coloring pages/magazines/sticker book/cards/package art scans and scanned quite a few myself. I have a bunch of text files like books and fanfiction. I've been collecting it for my own use (and mostly because I enjoy collecting and cataloging stuff in general) but I guess I should dump it somewhere for the internet to see before my hard drives rot. I also have some VHS tapes, some of my own and some bought at flea markets which have movies that are widely available but with commercials that I'm not sure are found online (I'll have to go through my collection and see if there are ones that aren't on UA-cam yet). I have to buy a VHS digitizer tho. A tip for fellow data collectors out there: use older hard drives that have slow read/write speed. They last longer because they have less magnet bits that hold information, so while the drive itself is the same size those bits are bigger and it takes more time for them to demagnetize. TLC and QLC types are your best option, pick a drive that's 500Gb or smaller. I mean you can always use industrial grade flash cards but those aren't exactly cheap. Or magnetic tapes but they are huge and hard to use. Sorry if I got some words wrong, English isn't my first language.

I tend to move things in my folders and reorganize them for easier accessibility. SSDs often develop uncorrectable errors and bad blocks, especially with a lot of rewriting. Besides, HDDs are cheaper. It makes sense for me to use an SSD for my laptop, but if I'm carefully storing data in a box and not moving it I'd rather spend money on more HDDs with the restricted budget I have.

Edit: Thank you Jake! It was called eggbusters no glitchbusters! It wasn't lost media, the name was the part that threw me off a lot. I have some lost media of my own that I have watched when I was a kid. Back when I was like 11-12 I watched this UA-cam series called Glitchbusters, it was a parody of mythbusters but in a very amateur style, and instead of myths. It was glitches in video games. I remember in one episode the host recreated the glitch that the UA-camr JoshJepson triggered in his Mario Sunshine Versus with AttackingTucans. Another Glitch he recreated was a Glitch in Majora's Mask, where he made a game have a purple fog everywhere. It was like Son of a Glitch before that was a thing. I remember watching him back in 5-6th grade and it's eather that he shut found his UA-cam channel or he buried in by UA-cam's content changing climate.

I have one big gripe with these, being that ''unreleased'' media isn't ''lost'' media. For example almost all artist have way more unreleased music than released music. Listing it as lost is just kind of weird, unless the author themselves express it. For example the RZA lost beats is more suitable for these lists.

Used to be a google plus user who was in touch with its more niche side. Basically it would either be those RPing communities. Like the “anime highschool” type deal or “creepypasta fnaf rp”. I used to remember the meme community that was associated with it. It was pretty toxic from what I remember. Not twitter levels of toxic, but it was up there at times. Then again I was in middle school when I used the app. I do remember some users like Vivian, Buko Shake (who drew a request for me), Pajamapants Jack (or someone similar), Rain Roth, and some others. I do remember one collection of posts. When Google+ rolled out a new feature that put posts under a user made category. Where he rated every single US president. Some funny moments I remember was him admitting Nixon was good before watergate. Also how the Taft president was terrible and how he was only known for his bath tub incident.
Just going through this series and thought of some more lost media maybe most aren't aware of since they're music related: The Red Hot Chili Peppers Greatest Hits sessions had extra songs that were recorded but never saw the light of day, confirmed by Chad Smith. Also the tape of The Beatles performing on Top of the Pops in 1966(?), which was their only live performance on the show, was destroyed, only an 11 second clip has popped up on the internet recently but never the full thing nor with audio.
Paul McCartney was also robbed while in Africa 1972(?) when recording his band Wings' new album Band on the Run and they took his demo tapes. Of course he re-recorded what he could (he famously played almost every instrument on this album in addition to singing and producing) so I'm sure none of the songs are that far off from what they turned out to be but who knows what the tapes sounded like.

The TWD thing isn't really lost media. I think the alternative Maggie death was the most effort they put into any of the alternative deaths. They shot all of these to prevent spoilers, or at least to attempt to prevent them. I think the only other alt deaths they filmed were just the short shots we saw in the episode of all of the other chracters dying.

Speaking on sitcoms, I remember as a kid being a part of focus groups with my mom and us getting a vhs in the mail to watch and see if we liked it. I think there were three guys or 3 dads living in one house and remember not liking it very much. Pilot is definitely lost to time but I wish I could remember more.

I didn't watch the whole video yet, but there is an update for Dragon King, Sakurai in his latest video showed a recording of the game. Since the quality was good, I think we can assume the game is not completely lost.

55:15 Fun little fact about the EDP thing. The area where he was confronted actually has a bunch of landmarks around it now on Google Maps. Things like "EDP's Cupcakes," "Bryant Moreland's Cupcakes," etc. show up. The actual location is the Pine Ridge Apartments in Bakersfield, CA, a location really close to my hometown. I found out about this after my older brother showed me it a year or so ago. You can even see the Rite Aid he walks to after being confronted. It's a fun outcome for a horrible situation.

For the next lost media iceberg section you should mention the Inspector Gadget 2019 Disney Reboot. Which was announced back in October 2019 but no new details surfaced after the announcement. As of right now there has been a cast or release date for it announced.
Another piece of lost media to mention is the live action Magic School Bus movie which only had Melissa McCarthy as Ms Frizzle but it got cancelled likely due to fan backlash in not wanting it to be made.

I’m so glad to see this show be talked about! I watched it when I was younger, and my dog, gaspard, was even named after the show. The show meant a lot to me, and my parents would even watch it alongside me at times. I just have some very fond memories of watching this show.

I'm new to the lost media and the concept just blows my mind. I've been collecting data for my whole life and turns out people nowadays are doing the same. It's actually great to know that folks are trying to preserve history and info. I hope people from future generations will have a fun time exploring things that were created before they were born just like I do now.
I have accumulated over 500,000 pictures over the years including art, photos, memes, animated gifs etc. One of the entries in this iceberg have Skyrim mods which I also have, tons of them. As well as mods and trainers for other older games. I've been collecting videos too. Animashes, edits, vines, YTPs, animated memes. I also have older versions of many programs and update files/patches. I collect photos of various merchandise, mostly related to vintage toy lines, games and Japanese titles, including comic book/coloring pages/magazines/sticker book/cards/package art scans and scanned quite a few myself. I have a bunch of text files like books and fanfiction. I've been collecting it for my own use (and mostly because I enjoy collecting and cataloging stuff in general) but I guess I should dump it somewhere for the internet to see before my hard drives rot. I also have some VHS tapes, some of my own and some bought at flea markets which have movies that are widely available but with commercials that I'm not sure are found online (I'll have to go through my collection and see if there are ones that aren't on UA-cam yet). I have to buy a VHS digitizer tho.
A tip for fellow data collectors out there: use older hard drives that have slow read/write speed. They last longer because they have less magnet bits that hold information, so while the drive itself is the same size those bits are bigger and it takes more time for them to demagnetize. TLC and QLC types are your best option, pick a drive that's 500Gb or smaller. I mean you can always use industrial grade flash cards but those aren't exactly cheap. Or magnetic tapes but they are huge and hard to use.

@@herroberbesserwisser7331 SSDs don't last as long as hard drives if you need constant use of the data you store like I do. I tend to move things in my folders and reorganize them for easier accessibility. SSDs often develop uncorrectable errors and bad blocks, especially with a lot of rewriting. Besides, HDDs are cheaper. It makes sense for me to use an SSD for my laptop, but if I'm carefully storing data in a box and not moving it I'd rather spend money on more HDDs with the restricted budget I have.
@@shabilioness7240 For most components, the measure is typically in thousands or even tens of thousands of hours between failures. For example, an HDD may have a mean time between failures of 300,000 hours, while an SSD might have 1.5 million hours. Due to no moving parts ssds last longer.

I have some lost media of my own that I have watched when I was a kid.
Back when I was like 11-12 I watched this UA-cam series called Glitchbusters, it was a parody of mythbusters but in a very amateur style, and instead of myths. It was glitches in video games.
I remember in one episode the host recreated the glitch that the UA-camr JoshJepson triggered in his Mario Sunshine Versus with AttackingTucans.
Another Glitch he recreated was a Glitch in Majora's Mask, where he made a game have a purple fog everywhere.
It was like Son of a Glitch before that was a thing. I remember watching him back in 5-6th grade and it's eather that he shut found his UA-cam channel or he buried in by UA-cam's content changing climate.

I love how the thumbnail features some of the most horrifying and dangerous creatures to have ever created/existed and then there's just a wholesome pictures of Pennywise and the dude from Eraserhead just hanging around having a nice time
I have one big gripe with these, being that ''unreleased'' media isn't ''lost'' media. For example almost all artist have way more unreleased music than released music. Listing it as lost is just kind of weird, unless the author themselves express it. For example the RZA lost beats is more suitable for these lists.

Used to be a google plus user who was in touch with its more niche side.
Basically it would either be those RPing communities. Like the “anime highschool” type deal or “creepypasta fnaf rp”. I used to remember the meme community that was associated with it. It was pretty toxic from what I remember. Not twitter levels of toxic, but it was up there at times. Then again I was in middle school when I used the app. I do remember some users like Vivian, Buko Shake (who drew a request for me), Pajamapants Jack (or someone similar), Rain Roth, and some others.
I do remember one collection of posts. When Google+ rolled out a new feature that put posts under a user made category. Where he rated every single US president. Some funny moments I remember was him admitting Nixon was good before watergate. Also how the Taft president was terrible and how he was only known for his bath tub incident.
Just going through this series and thought of some more lost media maybe most aren't aware of since they're music related: The Red Hot Chili Peppers Greatest Hits sessions had extra songs that were recorded but never saw the light of day, confirmed by Chad Smith. Also the tape of The Beatles performing on Top of the Pops in 1966(?), which was their only live performance on the show, was destroyed, only an 11 second clip has popped up on the internet recently but never the full thing nor with audio.
Paul McCartney was also robbed while in Africa 1972(?) when recording his band Wings' new album Band on the Run and they took his demo tapes. Of course he re-recorded what he could (he famously played almost every instrument on this album in addition to singing and producing) so I'm sure none of the songs are that far off from what they turned out to be but who knows what the tapes sounded like.

The TWD thing isn't really lost media. I think the alternative Maggie death was the most effort they put into any of the alternative deaths. They shot all of these to prevent spoilers, or at least to attempt to prevent them. I think the only other alt deaths they filmed were just the short shots we saw in the episode of all of the other chracters dying.

I don't remember if the characters were dubbed or if the show was just narrated in English. I'm also not sure if they were full length episodes or just shorts. But I know my brother watched this when he was little during the period this was supposedly lost. It definitely was not after 2016 as he would have been too old by that point and it was definitely on a TV channel, not UA-cam.
Fun fact: one of the TAS 1000 songs (I've been delayed) was used in one of the beta builds for the mmo game Club Penguin called "penguin chat 3"

Speaking on sitcoms, I remember as a kid being a part of focus groups with my mom and us getting a vhs in the mail to watch and see if we liked it. I think there were three guys or 3 dads living in one house and remember not liking it very much. Pilot is definitely lost to time but I wish I could remember more.
