I’m not sold on stage manager. The macOS dock in its default position (unless set to auto hide) has always used up a decent amount of screen real estate and now stage manager is burning up more space on the left. The ability to create layouts is cool I guess, but it still seems like an inefficiency when it comes to screen real estate. I’m all for better window manager on macOS but this needs some work. They could have placed this in the dock area for starters.
Being civil & respectful here: I fully agree on your views on Strange Manager. I found no help in this novelty and especially since I always have my doc on the left side. Maybe that’s just me but no thanks. I predict it won’t survive the next major update.
I'm not exactly sure if I understand you correctly but you can make your screen full screen and then the cards that are in the stage manager are behind that screen. When you move your cursor to the left on a full screen, the cards will superimpose on top of your full screen.

Useful as ever - thank you. The trouble with Stage Manager is I can't really see why I'd use it. Must be a luddite... I can already have several windows open.
I really struggle to see the point of Stage Manager. I normally have most of my applications in full-screen on my laptop, so that I can just swipe between them, or maybe have some of them sharing a screen if I need to use them at the same time. Any smaller ones can share space on the desktop. It does not seem like SM brings any improvement to that.
I’ve never used Mail because it was missing so many of these functions that are new in this release, which have been available in Gmail for many years. Finally I can move across!
Your videos are very helpful. Pages has changed and I can’t send my forms as a PDF as easily as I could before. They have to be transformed to PDF first or moved to iCloud first. An extra two steps. Am I right?
OMG I hadn't even noticed the clock or the weather apps! The excitement 😅 I had to pause the video immediately and add 10 locations that I have no use for on both apps 😂
I'll have to try this stage manager but my first reaction is why didn’t they just make the dock do this? Now we’re wasting screen real estate with another side bar.

after getting used to it, I really like Stage Manager. I don’t leave it turned on all the time on my iPad Pro or my MacBook… but there are certainly times it’s quite helpful.
So far, I've got it permanently on for my MacBook, and sometimes on my iPad. I'm still trying to figure out whether it's useful or not on my desktop Mac.
@@ProperHonestTech I like it for grouping apps that are all part of a specific task and being about to switch between said groups. Yeah, not sure on a desktop.
@@ProperHonestTech I was constantly going through the apps bar at the bottom to make the switch. Stage Manager is the most intuitive method for working with multiple apps (for me personally). However, this is what I love about Mac... There are a few ways to do the same thing. So, people can turn on and off and use what feels best for them.
Stage Manager is more complex-flexible than that. Try pressing Shift when clicking the App on the top bar, or one App in minimized. They regroup and change the composition. Also when Apps resized manually to screen size, the Stage Manager auto hides but shows again when hovering on the side it is hidden, depending on where you have the Dock (I have the dock at left side, so Manager goes to the right side). I Tried it for 10 minutes on a fresh install and seems to be practical for grouping apps. Also on external monitor. 😊

I have a 16" MB M1 Pro and I find Stage Manager to be quite useful when using the trackpad. It's as easy as moving my finger to the left of the screen and swapping. The problem, for me, is when I connect my 38" widescreen monitor and go in clamshell mode. Using Stage Manager with a mouse is a pain in the _____. I found that using multiple desktops while using the external monitor is easier for me because i can set a hotkey on my mouse to swap between desktops. Dragging the courser all the way to the left on a widescreen to activate Stage Manager is a pain. I'm still deciding on using SM or multiple desktops.
I'm looking at Stage Manager now and, while I could see it being useful on iPad, I just don't see why Spaces wouldn't be better regardless of external monitor or not. I have been using virtual desktops to manage my windows for years on linux and now macOS (I just never got into the habit of alt/cmd-tab to switch between apps). I just set the upper-right corner as a hot spot to show the Spaces switcher, as well as using the keyboard shortcuts to switch between Spaces. Maybe Stage Manager has some benefit but I've yet to find it over Spaces.
@@LearnAtMyExpense Yea, I hear you. Last night I turn off Stage Manager and reverted back to multiple desktops (spaces). I just find it much easier to do the 3 finder swipe up and select the "space/desktop" I need.

Do you know how to stop iPhone on iOS 16.2 from dimming all the time even when looking at the screen? I can’t even read an email or any kind of texts without it always constantly dimming, it’s driving me nuts.
Hello Sir, I have a question that has nothing to do with my Mac but with my iPhone location constantly changing while it’s just sitting in my apartment and turning my camera on like I have left home. Do you have any advice how I can fix it or stop it.
Hello....really like your videos. Thank you. Could you maybe consider doing a video on Apple Notes? I might be doing something wrong but when I make a change on my iphone, it updates just fine to my Notes on my iMac M1 with Ventura. And it does it nearly immediately. But if I make a change to Notes on my iMac, the Notes on my phone won't update to see the changes unless I close the phone app and reopen it. Then it updates. Seems like a bad idea if they designed it that way on purpose. Because of this anomaly, I now use Drafts instead. It updates both ways with no problems at all.
Ibwas so e, ited about Stage Management, until I started using it and started using some disadvantages. The one the bothered me the most is that if you are sharing your screen in a conference and want to show 2 windows at a time on the same screen or a whiteboard on top of your presentation YOU CAN'T because only one is allowed
I really don't see the benefit in stage manager. I do the same thing by putting my dock on the left hand side of the screen, or using Spaces. I don't know why Apple does stuff like this, puts a lot of work into something they already have that is probably just going to confuse people. I bet this will not catch on.
The remind me element is so disappointing, as if I set it to remind me and then remove that email from my inbox, that email doesn't come BACK to the inbox. Seems like it's only useful for people that never remove messages from their inbox. Am I missing something?
As someone who doesn’t move things from my inbox, I haven’t noticed this - but if that’s the case, it seems like a pretty major drawback of the feature.
Plan is to launch a similar video to this for iPad next week, although I must admit, I'm tempted to give Stage Manager it's own video, it's definitely not the most user-friendly thing I've ever seen from Apple! 😂
There is an issue with the Stage Manager. Without it, I can drag and drop files from the desktop to mail, msgs and apps etc. With stage manager on, I am unable to do that. With an app running up front, the desktop icons disappear from the desktop. If you find a work around, please do share. Thanks p.s. Thanks for the "mini-desktops" tip. I couldn't have figured that one out on my own. It is indeed the best feature of stage manager.
@@staskozak8118 Yes I found it later that it can be done. However, it takes 3-4 seconds before the file can be moved. Still problematic where you spent $2000+ on a machine for its speed.
The problem with new Ventura, I can't block Chrome of Auto Login. Every-time I ran Chrome it will add it to Auto Login in setting without authorization.
Thank you for another great review. You mentioned some time ago that you would do a comparison between the iphone 13 pro and the iphone 14/14pro, whether it was worth the extra cash. I currently use the XS. Thank you.😊
I talk about that in this video - ua-cam.com/video/dIAdr0UerOY/v-deo.html - but my take is that I would go for the 14 Pro if budget allows, but if not, get the 13 Pro on a deal. I think the 14 is a disappointing phone, personally.

Hello Sir, I have a question that has nothing to do with my Mac but with my iPhone location constantly changing while it’s just sitting in my apartment and turning my camera on like I have left home. Do you have any advice how I can fix it or stop it.
Nice video. Thanks.
I would just like to endorse what the other commentators have said - great videos always worth watching
How good is stagemanager working with multiple monitors
Im shocked at how much I love using stage manager on my macbook while coding😊
I really don't see the benefit in stage manager.
I do the same thing by putting my dock on the left hand side of the screen, or using Spaces.
I don't know why Apple does stuff like this, puts a lot of work into something they already have that is probably just going to confuse people. I bet this will not catch on.
Great video!
A lot of the features already present on Linux and/or Windows
The remind me element is so disappointing, as if I set it to remind me and then remove that email from my inbox, that email doesn't come BACK to the inbox. Seems like it's only useful for people that never remove messages from their inbox. Am I missing something?
As someone who doesn’t move things from my inbox, I haven’t noticed this - but if that’s the case, it seems like a pretty major drawback of the feature.
Can you download from the camera to the SamsungT7?
If the camera supports downloading straight to external drive then yes.
Mate ! Can you or are you also gonna do a Video for 10 Best Tips for Stage Manager on the iPad ?
Plan is to launch a similar video to this for iPad next week, although I must admit, I'm tempted to give Stage Manager it's own video, it's definitely not the most user-friendly thing I've ever seen from Apple! 😂
Amazing video. I don't want to have to fill out my lastname for the newsletter tho...
Fair enough. I’ll see if that requirement can be removed, although you could always put an initial (even a fake one) as a way to bypass it.
@@ProperHonestTech No worries :)
There is an issue with the Stage Manager. Without it, I can drag and drop files from the desktop to mail, msgs and apps etc. With stage manager on, I am unable to do that. With an app running up front, the desktop icons disappear from the desktop. If you find a work around, please do share. Thanks
p.s. Thanks for the "mini-desktops" tip. I couldn't have figured that one out on my own. It is indeed the best feature of stage manager.
shift+click or just drag app from stage manager sidebar
@@staskozak8118 Yes I found it later that it can be done. However, it takes 3-4 seconds before the file can be moved. Still problematic where you spent $2000+ on a machine for its speed.
Still dont really see how stage manager isn't just a bigger dock bar
Great video
@@ProperHonestTech thank you very much! 😊
