- A scene from the film 'V for Vendetta' where V introduces himself to Evy through a speech full of alliteration. It is much better in high quality and I hope you enjoye it!
Forgive me if you experience a stutter in the camera movement, I don't think my Mac was able to handle rendering it!

He's a classically trained actor. The only thing challenging about this for him would be not tripping over all the v's.

He uses 49 V words, and the V he carves into the wall makes 50. One of many "Roman Numeral V=5" references used in the film.
Omg, not only do you have to find a ton of v words and describe a characters whole motivation with them, but it needs to be exactly fifty? It's so incredibly clever.
@@badasunicorn6870 V's personal motto is "Vivus Vniversum Vivus Vici" (using classical roman "V" for the letter "U")
"By the power of truth, I , while living, have conquered the universe."
I'd like to add that the whole poem "Remember, remember, the 5th of November" has the roman numeral V=5 in it as well. So does the year. November 5th, 1605. Lots and lots of references to Vs and 5s
In the book, there’s that part where he plays Beethoven’s Fifth, and the main melody is how you say V in morse code.
The roman numeral for 50 is L. There's no V in this.

The genius of this scene does not lie in the fact that they just kept adding V words one after the other, but the fact that this scene just fortold the exact happenings of this movie to the very end.
What??
yes. and all the words make sense although he could have used far fewer if he wanted to for example " I'm bringing the government down because they are unworthy of the power they weald and royally fucked me over in their mass genic ide, my name is V" But what V said sounds better.

V says "of course you are" because Evie in Latin is how you pronounce IV (ee-vee), which is the number 4. When V was incarcerated, he was in cell 5 or V. The woman who sent him notes through the wall was in the neighboring cell, which was 4 or IV.

I like how V isn't above making fun of himself. Vichyssoise is a French potato soup. His excessive verbosity renders his words meaningless to the majority of people little more than a potato soup posturing to be something more than the sum parts that constitute his monologue. He acknowledges it and laughs at himself seeing his own vanity yet claiming to not be motivated by it. Even thought he says he does what he does for the people at least on some level he is also just doing it for himself. He sees the irony of it and cant help but laugh.
He, V, is a people. He does it for himself, too.
That's part of why I love V. He's a dude that can laugh at himself, that enjoys waxing poetic, that really is a full and complete character with nominally reasonable aims. He punishes people that we all recognize as terrible, he's generally affable and fun to listen to... and he's a fucking terrorist.
Like, no two ways about it. V is a terrorist. Not even just kind of, a full terrorist. And yet you can't help but root for him. It's incredible.
"isn't it funny how a wacko like myself makes more sense than the government when you really think about it?"
It is very funny indeed.
Exactly the end point, no matter how much your intentions is for otherw rememeber that it's your choice for yourself and the other react how they will want to it, despite your intention to help them.

Imagine if he was in cell no. 10.
Or 6...
I bet that in the movie, V was preparing in his head this introduction over and over and is now just really glad he finally gets to say it.
This is still one of the best alliteration-based monologues I've ever seen used in film or even literature. If you can't remember much from the movie, you'll still very likely remember this bit.
Ironically I remember most of the film but not this part... Maybe it's because watched it with the Portuguese audio soon after it came out, and good though as the Brazilian dub is for most things, it's still a dub so it pales in comparison to the original monologue.
