huh?? this isn't even remotely true? it's an agreed upon fact for everyone that danish people understand swedish, but swedish people don't understand danish. Their pronunciation is so different to swedish that even if the languages are somewhat similar, there's no hope of understanding it verbally. i'm a native swede and i need the subtitles for her. tyrell probably understands her because he knows danish, not because he's swedish. norwegian and swedish are very similar languages, and would be more apt for the comparison between american and australian, but even then i wouldn't say it's perfect. a swede and norwegian could speak in their own languages and understand each other for the most part, while an american and australian would understand each other near perfectly.

@@mariof3780 When you're crafting a narrative, there is a natural tendency to fill the story with an many details that will bring the audience where you want them to be at the end of the scene. There's another tendency to continually increase the intensity of the scene: get graphic, get violent, shock the audience. The problem with doing that is you end up with every scene looking like it's been put together by Michael Bay. Sure, your amping up the energy, but you lose all nuance and by the end of the scene you're basically spoonfeeding your audience with the laziest storytelling possible. Let's use the scene from 5:58 onwards for example: We start with her in the bathroom, not being spared from the sounds one would make in the bathroom. Tryrell opens the door, she says "I'm in here" and we get that moment: Will he do what everybody else does? Say "I'm sorry" and immediately leave?" - Nope, he welcomes himself in and closes the door behind him. As he walks in, she doesn't escalate, and he takes up position across from her, standing while she's sitting. We get several long shots with no action, no dialogue, kilter angles. Then at 6:33 she leans back and slightly spreads her legs, resting her hands on her hips. He looks, then says "Thank you for a lovely evening", lingers, then leaves. If that had been a lesser scene, she would have spoken a few more lines, perhaps threatened him. He could have given a few lines about how much she loves her husband. You'd probably get quicker cuts of closeups. But the director/editor chose to make this an almost entirely dialogue-free scene from long angles and few cuts. Two motions, her moving her legs/arms and his scanning glance tell the story. By leaving out all the other stuff that COULD have been in there, they have made the scene that much better. Addition by subtraction.
