"Out of that learning comes an extraordinary sense of order. The order which comes with the observation, in oneself, of pleasure. And there is enjoyment -- a marvelous sense of ending each enjoyment as you live each moment. You don't carry over the past enjoyment. Then that becomes pleasure. Then it has no meaning. Repetition of pleasure is monotony, is boredom." 10:53
“Why is discipline important? Discipline teaches us to operate by principle rather than desire. Saying no to our impulses (even the ones that are not inherently sinful) puts us in control of our appetites rather than vice versa. It deposes our lust and permits truth, virtue, and integrity to rule our minds instead.” ― John MacArthur Jr.
@@rifatcetin2931 That's not true. Humans experience impulse regardless of how well they know themselves. In fact, if you truly know yourself, then you'll know that this is true about yourself. Discipline keeps you grounded in reality.
I felt that he didnt brief with his real intent to the concepts but fairly managed to put it in english words that closely resembles that meaning cos english is a new age language that doesn't has that versatility like sanskrit or old varients of indian languages were there are words written and spoken on inner dimensions
I wish he had explained more about perception, action and reaction ( fear, pleasure). How to cultivate capacity of perception and action after the initial reaction or condition of learning. Through order such as concentrating, giving time and strategising our efforts to learn? ... Nways brilliant discourse
discipline in the orthodox sense has no place in a mind that's really wanting to learn about truth, not philosophise about truth, not theorise about truth, but learn about it. Learn about pleasure.

There are two Typ of people . The learning one and the one who think to know everything.
When you hold that water in your hand, it's no longer the sea.
"What are you holding? " This is a daily question to ask myself.

When you know your principles and what you love , you dont need discipline at all...

Where is your quote
@@harbhub and when you understand your impulses they get controlled themselves you don't need a John MacArthur to control them for you
@@harbhub Yes. Just that Discipline must come from Understanding not Conditioning....
