Great idea to cover the Arcade Archives line, as they deserve more attention. I'll certainly be tuning back in to see what you think of previous and new entries.
This was definitely obscure enough to take a look, and the pilot voices are zany to say the least. I'd definitely like to see your take on Raiden 3 Mikado.
It really feels like the character designs and voice clips were made for a completely different game and just slapped onto an already in-development shmup to give it something to stand out from the crowd. And as for the outro question, I'd be really interested to see Yuru-Kill. The artstyle made me think it was a puzzle/visual novel, I was pretty surprised to see it was a shmup
Yes! Definitely need reviews of all those shmups in the Arcade Achives. They all seem so tempting to get but gets overwhelming that I just give up and not getting any at all. Will look forward for more reviews.
Tecmo definitely had some sleepers on hand like Tecmo Knight aka Wild Fang, Ninja Ryukenden, Secret of the Stars and just naming a few. ZZZ is about as weird as Data East's Trio the Punch.
I actually got the impression that ACA releases must have been the cheapest of cash grabs with nothing added to them, given the bargain pricing. I don't know if I'm completely off base there, but this is making me reconsider.
Some are better than others. Xexex (or Orius, if you prefer) for example, actually features multiple regional variants that are vastly different from one another, as well as multiple score attack and timed caravan modes to go with them. In general, the emulation is also as top-tier as it gets without being an M2 joint. Well worth 8 bucks, for sure; I've even gotten several on both PS4 and Switch.
I think I checked this game out at some point years ago and found it more interesting as a curiosity than actually a good or fun game to play. Definitely one to skip unless you're a completionist for all shmup releases. Sadly, I find myself in that group, so I'll probably still grab it eventually, though I might wait for a sale 😂
It looks like it'll be too far out of our wheelhouse and I don't want to risk weakening my channel's visibility by posting non-shmups content here. However, Raindrop Sprinters is something I've wanted to look into, and I'd certainly feature it on a Twitch stream!
One of the many ADHD arcade games of the '90s with the goal of grabbing your attention through obnoxious animations and sounds. For the price, it's worth adding to the collection if you're a Shmup fan or need to burn a quick half hour.
Best Intro track ever!!! Gonna be tough to improve and iterate well on it. I wanna hear a full version of this one 🙏. Also gonna need a full, clean version of the 1st track you used with your narration, here. Seriously bro.... both are superb tracks that I'd love to have full versions, of 😎👌. Also, ZZZ is a pretty cool shooter, minus the cornball, yet generic voice samples. Thanks for your hard work.... it's def appreciated 👊
Thanks for the kind words. The track is called "A-C-Eh" and is featured as a bonus track in my latest album on Bandcamp. Both tracks are actually the same one 😁
I get that, but they do still cover 50% (or more) of the market. Steam would be a good place to bring these, though Xbox already has at least some ACA on it, so it's a bit of a mystery why more aren't appearing. I guess xbox sales are super shit in Japan though, so it's probably a leading factor.
Really nice to get a trusted opinion on these archive shmups. There are so many that it gets a bit overwhelming!
We need more reviews on those arcade Archives releases

I'm on the fence about raiden 3, so that one gets my vote for a future review!
I never would know about half of these releases without videos like these! And how brilliantly they are put together is the cherry on top!
It really feels like the character designs and voice clips were made for a completely different game and just slapped onto an already in-development shmup to give it something to stand out from the crowd.

So glad to see you back! Always loved your videos and reviews...
Would love to see a video on Trouble Witches. Love your work 🧡
Good stuff, there are so many ACA games so it's great to get BH reviews for them! Looking forward to the next review, all three of those seem cool!
Trouble witches final next please, thank you and welcome back!!!

Seems rather run of the mill. Thanks for the review!
Keep them coming E!

The dadshmup definition insert is a neat touch lol
I thought it was pretty funny, I tried to make it look like it came from ad dictionary lol
Yuru Kill would be nice for the next one!
Thanks for asking.
Dadshmup, lol. I’ve just learned the name for my favourite era of shmup. 😄
It's awesome to have you back man, really missed the content. Look forward to the future content!
I'm up too late, saw the new video upload. Can't wait to see it! I go back to sleep now... 😴
Trouble Witches Final
Good to see you back at it.
Amazing so stoked for this aca series! Also dadshmup definition was super helpful 😆
Great review, which pretty much mirrored my experience with the game.
Would be great to hear your take on Raiden 3 Mikado.
Would love to see Yuru kill next. Great show. Thanks

So does this mean reviews of other AA shmups like Gun Frontier, Turbo Force, and Thunder Dragon II may be in the pipeline?
Short answer, yes. Longer answer, yeeeeeeeesssss.
Lol the “dad shmup” definition on the side
Id like to see you do a reviews of Air Gallet and Lethal Thunder one day
If they ever make it to ACA definitely. Air Gallet is a top tier wishlist item for me.

Trouble witches next plz.
I'd love a review for Raiden 3 next!
Love it. Very Varth-like.
Varth is so good. It's nice that it's in the Capcom Arcade Stadium, but an ACA release would be pretty sweet too. I'd buy it again.
Is like a 1945 game with a raizing graphic characters design presentation but this kind of mix does not convince me so much!
Can you take a look at Raindrop Sprinters, I would love a review from you on this.
It looks like it'll be too far out of our wheelhouse and I don't want to risk weakening my channel's visibility by posting non-shmups content here. However, Raindrop Sprinters is something I've wanted to look into, and I'd certainly feature it on a Twitch stream!
when the bomb happens he says COME ON JELLY BEAN
What is Jelly Bean tho? Is that what they call the bomb? Is Jelly Bean dropping them? It's so weird sounding too 😆
@@StudioMudprints the flyer calls it the jelly bean bomb
Gotcha. Super parody-ish, of course. I guess they are kinda small and rotund.
Cmon jellybean!
lol is that really it?? I thought it might be, but it's just so distorted, hahah

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on Yurukill.

@StudioMudprints - Thank You! I can't seem to find this particular track on your BC profile tho 🤷♂️
Ah! Sorry, that's right, it's a bonus track on the "Heaven" album so it doesn't show. Sorry for the confusion.
@StudioMudprints - .... post it and I'll buy it 👍
Bosconyaaaaaan.
Raiden 3 please!
I hate when they port these stupid games on 2 consoles only, so annoying for not having these games on xbox and PC!
I get that, but they do still cover 50% (or more) of the market. Steam would be a good place to bring these, though Xbox already has at least some ACA on it, so it's a bit of a mystery why more aren't appearing. I guess xbox sales are super shit in Japan though, so it's probably a leading factor.
@@StudioMudprints Yeah but I do love at least seeing these games ported on steam, which would be very cool for steam users like me.
