I have a 2008 Toyota Corolla CE with a five-speed manual, same color as this one. Like you, I love it. Fun to drive, smooth, comfortable, and a very intuitive layout of the dash panel. I could not be happier. I bought it in 2018 with 65,000 miles on it. Now in 2023 it has 113,500 and I could not be happier with it. I get upper 20's to lower 30's mpg in the city and mid to upper 30's on the freeway. A couple of times I got 40 mpg while driving 75 mph all day long. Absolutely super. I'll be driving this car for a good long while.
Mine has 223k miles on it only issues was a loose gas cap cv axles lower control arms starter and intake manifold gasket and I bet it will last tell the frame rots out
I am the original owner of a 2007 Corolla S 5-speed and still have it as of 7-2024. It doesn’t burn or leak oil. I’ve read where the older models of this engine burn oil so mine is one of the last. I change the oil myself every 5k miles. It has 140k miles now. The car is perfect nothing has ever gone wrong. I love this car it’s fun to drive. When my daughter was learning to drive this is the car she learned from. So she learned how to drive a manual at age 14. I learned at age 16. I highly recommend this car if you find one that is clean and been taken care of. 9th gen Corolla.
I haven't driven a Corolla since I test drove a 92 about 20 years ago. Two observations: Toyota stuck with a 97-98 inch wheelbase LONG after Honda opened the Civic up with a 102 inch wheelbase...those 4 inches made a big difference in my ability to get comfortable behind the wheel. Ford also had the Escort on a 98 inch wheelbase at this time. I couldn't even get into the front seat of an Escort. I would be willing to bet this car was on its way to the local car auction when you " saved " it. Whatever you paid, Winchester Toyota was happy to get for it, they had all but written it off. Nowadays, almost no one wants a sedan, and certainly not one that doesn't have all the safety features currently known to exist...except folks like us (those watching your video) who understand what diamonds in the rough this type of car is, ESPECIALLY with that manual transmission.
you got SOOO lucky with this one no matter what i could not find one in a manual 😤 had to settle with the auto but i’m still happy with mine, cheers dude
I have 2001 with auto. it is just perfect car. never break down. I saved lots of money. low insurance, good on gas. but problem is, as this is good car, even I have money, I cannot buy new one........it is too good....
I also have the exact same car. Mine is black. I like your burnout at the start of the video. I've done that plenty of times at the red light when some dude is up for a challenge...he he😎
I have this in automatic and it’s pretty decent. Mines were leaking oil and I got it sealed. The AC and heat is working, so I’m rolling with this fah now. When you break, car don’t jump like some care
I have a Corolla s manual transmission after having kids. I love it. Sold the 2 door honda 5 speed and bought a 4 door Corolla 5 speed so quiet compared to my civic with an exhaust. No automatic for me.
How well does it drive fun-wise? Had an 04 civic that I loved but had reliability issues. So I'm hoping if I get this it is still fun. Which year civic and corolla do you have?
I have a 2004 Toyota Matrix base trim which is basically the hatchback version of this with a manual, these cars are amazing! I recently changed the manual transmission fluid after 56k miles (it has never been changed) and it feels so much nicer. Love this car for a first one!
Hi there, I can atest that Corollas like this with the 1zz do comsume oil, but hardly at all. I also have no oil leaks. They are very smooth cars, maybe I got lucky because the Car's lived on the eastern side of Washington its whole life.
Not sure what you're talking about with oil leaking everywhere. The only problems I've had with mine after 240,000 miles is the valve cover gasket recently went, which was cheaply replaced, and the timing chain tensioner which was also easily replaced. Other than that it's been and still is a super reliable and leak free car.
@@JDdrives0406 that sounds about right. It was either leaking oil out of the timing chain tensioner or timing chain itself needed be changed out. Mine did that until I took care of those two things. The timing chain tensioner was surprisingly cheap. Only 25 bucks. Right now I'm about to change out the two front CV axles. And those are really cheap to. Less than a hundred bucks for both of them.
i have a 2013 corolla s thats manual. although its slow if a very fun car and can do decent burnouts on cold tires. also doesnt sound bad with the borla s type exhaust
I have the same car, year, manual trans. But in kilometres not miles. But the clutch engagement is at the highest possible point, my knee hitting the steering wheel
I have had two Corollas. Both manual one was a 2004 S and the second a 2005 S. Both have had really high clutch engagement. My dad who also owned one said it had a really high clutch. It's just a Corolla thing I guess.
@@jacobnelson1 Thank you for letting me know this because I had wondered if the high clutch was caused by last owner's driving habits or something. I heard somewhere if you don't press the clutch all the way to the floor every time the clutch engagement point will get higher up over time. Is this true, or is it just a Corolla thing like you said?
@@randomvideoconnoisseur563 I honest have no idea if it gets higher overtime or not, but you can always adjust the clutch engagement to be lower or higher according to your comfort. Also every Corolla I have owned has been used. But they were both single owner vehicles and had owners who both knew how to drive stick previously. So I personally do think that it is just a Corolla thing, but it is definitely nothing to worry about as long as your clutch doesn't slip.
How does this compare to a 7th gen civic? Had one before and it was the funnest car I have driven, but sadly had valve cover issues. Now I'm thinking about this Toyota and hoping its has a similar fun factor with how it feels. But you also mentioned it has oil leaking issues. Does it have throttle by cable?
i just bought mine. im just scared stopping uphill,im scared my car will move backwards when i release my break. will my car move backwards if i half clutch to the biting point?im scared quickly switch my foot from break to accelerator i might step hard.. any tips?im not used using handbreak technique
Any corolla from 03-08 is definitely worth it. I have a 2005 in an automatic and that thing has over 245,000 miles and always starts right up like I just drove it. Just keep the oil good and it’ll last forever. I’d recommend checking the front suspension components before purchasing it though. They are the biggest flaw of the car aside from its oil consumption
Yes, they use the same power train, suspension, and other components. I’d say the 09-13 are just tweaked to be bigger and to better fit the different shapes. Other than that, both 9th and 10th generations are equally as reliable
I have an 03 Corolla too and the road noise is terrible!! I assume there's no sound insulation. For that reason alone, I've thought about replacing the car.

Thank you for looking out but every car burns oil regardless. Some more than others. It’s part of the combustion chamber and engine design. As long as you keep up with your oil it won’t break down and won’t leave you stranded
